The renovation of our £1.4 million Digital Suites is complete!✨

Thanks to T Level funding, this advanced facility will be instrumental in developing and supporting our T Level courses across a range of digital and creative disciplines, including media production, games design, digital production, accounting, and digital design and development 📽️

The renovation has turned the former media, music, and recording spaces into cutting-edge digital suites, creative design studios, and a specialised gaming room 🎮🕹️

Simon Nixon Principal and Chief Executive says, “We are thrilled to have completed the refurbishment of the digital suites and be able to open the doors to this new facility. This represents a significant investment in the future of our students, and will not only support our current programmes but will also pave the way for innovative new courses and opportunities.”

FWP, a leading architecture and design firm in Preston, managed the project, and the result is a modern, accessible facility designed to develop creativity and collaboration.

🥊 Preston College's own Josh Paladino, a former Level 3 Sports and Fitness scholarship learner, is stepping into the ring for his professional boxing debut this Saturday, 7 September, at Liverpool's Fusion Nightclub! Josh's journey from dedicated student to professional athlete has been truly inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder.

🎓 Graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Strength and Conditioning from The University of Central Lancashire - UCLan, and a deep passion for boxing, Josh is ready to bring his A-game to the Super Welterweight tournament ⭐

His story is a testament to what hard work, dedication, and support can achieve. Jodi Collum, Curriculum Leader for Sport and former tutor for Josh, says: “Josh's journey has been nothing short of inspiring. As the son of a professional boxer, Josh has always been passionate about the sport. His dedication and hard work have been evident since his days as a scholarship learner, where he consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and determination.”

We wish Josh all the very best as he continues his family's legacy and takes this huge step in his career. 💪🥇

Preston College Tutor Stars in Sky Sports Campaign🏗️📺

At Preston College, we are passionate about bridging the gap between education and industry, and our very own Civil Engineering Lecturer, Hassan Ahmed, is leading the way as he stars in a national TV campaign alongside Sky Sports presenter Mike Wedderburn.

The campaign, created in partnership with Sky Media, highlights the incredible value of recruiting tutors with real-life industry experience to deliver outstanding technical curriculum to the future generation 🎓

Hassan brings a wealth of knowledge to our students. He says: “I became a further education teacher because I wanted to transfer my existing skills and knowledge to those passionate about joining the construction sector. It is so important for students to learn from someone who has experience in the sector. They know that I have been on a similar journey they are embarking on now, which makes them more likely to share their challenges with me.” 👷‍♂️📚

Congratulations to Jeswin - a graduate from our Automotive Maintenance & Repair Level 1, 2 & 3 courses who is beginning his career as a Junior Technician at HPL Motors.

Jeswin started studying Automotive Technologies at Preston College in 2021 and since then has completed all three levels in automotive maintenance and repair and gained full-time employment at HPL Motors as a Junior Technician.

“I have always wanted to learn about how cars work and the automotive courses at Preston College have been perfect for me. I have had the right tutors and support, developed practical skills and completed a work placement to put my knowledge and skills into practice.”

Yensi has recently completed his Level 1 in Carpentry and Joinery is progressing to Level 2 to develop his skills in preparation for an apprenticeship.

I took part in the SkillBuild competition representing Preston College – it was one of my biggest achievements. Ben joined Preston College from Our Lady’s Catholic High School and has studied a Level 2 Art and Design and a Level 3 in Games and Graphics. He is now progressing to the University of Central Lancashire to study illustration.

Congratulations to Julia - a graduate from our Travel & Tourism Level 3 course

Julia joined Preston College from Fulwood Academy with a career goal to work as cabin crew, as her course progressed Julia discovered a passion for events management.

“When I started my course, I wanted to work as cabin crew but through running events at the College, I decided to change my career goal to working in event management. I managed to get work experience with Piper Music, it was great work experience and I loved it! Now I have a job in events management with Piper Music Management.”

Congratulation to Erin - a graduate from our Professional Construction T Level course.

Erin joined Preston College from St Bede’s Catholic High School in Lytham. Erin has enjoyed the industry placement element of her T Level which allowed her to experience architecture and surveying.

“I enjoyed learning CAD [computer aided design] and my work placements. My placements have made me even more sure of my decision to study architecture. My T Level has given me experience and enough UCAS points to go to university to study architecture.”

Jack joined Preston College from Garstang Community Academy and is going to continue studying computing at university before starting work in the industry.

Ellie joined Preston College from Moor Park High School and successfully completed Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications alongside achieving her English GCSE. The qualifications and work experience that Ellie completed has opened the door to a new career in the early years sector.

My first work experience placement was in a nursery and resulted in a part-time job, this continued until I got a placement at the primary school where I now work full-time. Congratulations to Tom - a PCD graduate who has been employed as a Professional Dancer with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.

Tom joined PCD from St Michael’s High School in Chorley and during his time at PCD he has truly flourished to become a world class dancer. He graduates from PCD with a role in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake: The Next Generation, a revival of the most successful dance theatre productions of all time.

“PCD has given me constant support and the teachers have pushed me to achieve. There have been so many opportunities to help me get ahead in the professional industry. During my time at PCD I have performed on stage in shows and exhibitions and have gained teaching experience at local dance schools. I leave PCD with a professional dancer role in Swan Lake to start my performance career.”
