Hoghton Tennis Club

Due to the irreparable unsafe court surface, no tennis play will be possible in 2024. Apologies.

COURTS UPDATE March '24.
The court surface is currently, irrreparably, unsafe for use.
The significant costs involved in restoring a safe surface (£30,000 minimum) are unavailable.

The courts are, therefore and unfortunately, closed until further notice, to prevent a serious injury.
Our apologies for this disappointing information.

Hello all.
I hope you have enjoyed the tennis courts this year.
We are aiming to put some maintenance work on the courts before the Spring 2022, to improve them. The pace of this is hard to determine, but we are considering our options for resurfacing the courts.
At this moment in time, we have removed one of the nets due to a damaged net post, leaving us down to one court for the remainder of the winter.
For now, I wish you well for the Winter.
Thank you very much to every member for joining this year. Your patronage has been very much appreciated.

From June onwards I am running one or two coached skills classes that will basically involve:

lots of practise of the range of shots and movements.

continue play after the session with those present.

The session will give you constant hits and drills with little standing around waiting.
The proposed sessions will last 1 hour long with a fee of £5 : coached by me!!

Please could you reply to this email if you are interested?
Numbers would be a max of 8-10 per class
Members only, but;
Members can bring a non-member guest and encourage them to join!

We are counting down to the 29th March at Hoghton Tennis Club.
A timeline will follow as we prepare our courts for casual tennis play in 2021.
We will honourably and persistently beg for donations of equipment for court maintenance, in a season-long project to improve the courts within our budget. Any spare stiff brushes, spades, ladders, wire, fence mesh, ground pegs, even any old but working vacuum cleaners.
I'll keep you posted as we close in on opening...
Good health to all.
Paul

We are slowly repairing, restoring and preparing the courts for play in April 2021.
We require members/volunteers who want to lend a hand for an hour or two, to attend to a variety of court repairs and maintenance.
If you are available, please comment below. The work is being done in February and March. Your help would be highly valued by the club and recorded in our club ambassador log.
I'll add updates as we go.
All the best, Paul

"Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on 4 January of new national lockdown restrictions to be introduced across England, the LTA can confirm that regrettably all indoor and outdoor tennis facilities will need to close.
The LTA will continue to push for tennis to resume as soon as the country is in a position where restrictions can be relaxed. Players up and down the country want to get back on court, whilst coaches, venues and officials will again be affected by this latest lockdown."
