From September 2024 we will be offering the RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) vaccination to eligible patients. RSV causes respiratory infections in adults & young children. We will be contacting you with the booking information.

Who should have the RSV vaccination?
Everyone turning 75 years old on or after the 1 September 2024 will be offered a single dose of RSV vaccine.
This is because older adults are more at risk of serious complications from RSV.
You can still get the vaccine up to the day before you turn 80. For the first year of the programme, the vaccine will also be offered to those who are already aged 75 to 79 years on 1 September 2024 as part of a catch up programme.

Pregnant women are also eligible from 28 weeks onwards, this will be offered via the maternity services.

As we head towards exam result days for A-Level and T-level students on 15 August and GCSE students on 22 August, Kooth wants young people to know that “whatever happens, we’ll be by your side.”

Kooth.com is a free, safe and anonymous online service supporting young people aged 10 to 25 with their mental health and wellbeing. It’s quick and easy to sign up to with no formal referral from a GP needed.

Kooth have put some tips together on how to keep calm leading up to and on results day itself.

📒 Plan for the day including where you will get the result, what time and with whom. Depending on the results, your young person might need to look into clearing or resits and knowing what options are available can help if things don’t quite go to plan.
📒 Help your young person notice and manage their stress levels.
📒 Talk about it. Sharing worries with someone who has been through it can help give them insight and perspective.
📒 Be there for others. Lots of their friends will be in the same boat and reassuring them and planning their results might help your young people discover ways they can help themselves too.
📒 Try not to compare to other young people. We're all different, success comes in different ways and exam results do not define a person.

Find ways to support your child leading up to the day itself at Kent Family or signpost your teen to the new Health for Teens website (links in the comments) 👆
