Working on this also. From a smaller drawing made bigger. Taking inspiration from my own stuff, like a music producer sampling from their own chunks of choon. In this world of image & as an image creator, I am adding to the pool & drinking from the pool, maybe drowning a little bit too. Are they waving or drowning? From the beach they all look the same.
Draw in. Paint in. Colour in. Paint over. Gloss over but never get over. Not quite.
We are really pleased to announce that you can now get bespoke fairly priced picture framing. Just pop in to speak to our very friendly, sometimes funny but always professional Framer Gary.
Next time you need some framing done please let us give you a price & see what options there are before you trudge off to big superstores or online shops. Even if we can't help you at the very least you'll meet Gary!
Some close ups of work in our current 'Death Masks' exhibition by Steve Ramsden
Private view tomorrow night (7.6.24)
---
This stunningly evocative & empathic exhibition by Steve is the culmination of a 50 year fascination with Death Masks & the raw human form. Borne from a life changing school trip to The National Portrait Gallery, whereby the teenage Steve saw a collection of death masks of Slaves killed during the Spanish Inquisition. The human story of the owner of the faces forever captured in the masks, together with the marks left by the artist deeply moved the young Steve, as history is laid down in layers and marks.

Fyi. Close up the painting
First day back in my gallery and lucky enough to sell this painting!
It's called - "The bridge that I threw my father off"
Acrylic on Card. 59cmX84cm (Itchen Bridge, Southampton)
Prints are available to buy.
It is part of my bridge series of paintings. I remember this bridge being built & before that there was a chain ferry. It seemed so modern & huge (it is huge) & the sunsets from it are glorious, right across Southampton Docks. This bridge set me off on a lifetime of loving bridges & me taking my first job as a trainee civil engineer, just to get close to them. More bridge paintings to follow soon.
OMG it feeeeels so good to be back in my gallery! So so so good & excited to see what the future brings for it, us, me, you, them & the other. I'll do a live next week to show you how excited I am and what is happening in June, exhibitions, & FRAMING!!!!!!!
And guess what.....today on my first day back in my gallery & I sold a painting! That makes my cockles & bank balance feel better for sure! Thank you to the buyer & our first commercial framing job too!! (Just an fyi - We do a discount on framing any work you buy from the gallery in an exhibition, as we want you to buy the work & have a lovely frame too).
In the mean time here are the opening hours & I look forward to seeing you soon, catching up on all the news plus you can see my new trainers!
Have a lovely weekend & thank you to all the gallery supporters & lovers of local artwork.
See you next week

The Boxer & The Clown both fell down.
A little drawing by to give time and reflection to the pain & passing of Matthew Perry & the knocking down of Tyson Fury. I was never a big Friends fan but I felt for Matthew Perry as I do for Tyson Fury when the suffocating, confusing, ensnaring darkness takes over despite best intentions, the best of times, best laid plans & all the best wishes.
Tomorrow morning FREE DROP IN WOOL & WORDS meet up at The Wooden Box Cafe. 91 High St. Ramsgate. 9 am til 11am.
