With January behind us, it’s time the first mortgage update of the month!

Not much movement in the interest rates this week, with most of the top deals not having changed since my last update. That said, Santander increased their interest rates earlier in the week, and Nationwide have announced they will be increasing by up to 0.3% tomorrow.

Nationwide and Santander have had some of the lowest interest rates recently, which has resulted in them being overwhelmed with business. These increases are partly an attempt to slow down volume in order to maintain their service levels, however, swap rates have increased a little since the start of the month which typically means we may see the fixed interest rates follow suite. That said, lenders have been quick to reassure us that the markets remain relatively stable any increases will be minimal…I very much hope they are right!
