Please say hello to my new friend, Stefan Deshkovchev, 84 years old, a renowned international violinist who fled Bulgaria in 1973, played all across the world who I've just met in the most 1970s bar in Dusseldorf. Here shopping for vintage gems, what a privilege to meet Stefan
I am selling the last of my original 1990s law enforcement target posters today, along with a lovely selection of mid-century furniture, kitchenware, and vases. Some vintage po*******hy too, if that's your thing
Quick quiz question: no prizes but a token bonus point if you know what these are and how they would be used (they are heavy). PS I do know the answer, so can award the token bonus point with authority.
On way home after a weekend sourcing in Belgium, including a fabulous flea in Bruges this morning. Can't wait to show you what's coming back with me, in the meantime, here's a few things that sadly I had to leave behind
Very excited for this one!
Next month - more details here - https://www.facebook.com/events/1739449863140075

Also, just two left of the original, 1990s law enforcement target posters. The one here has just been framed, available £55 plus delivery.
Truly awful or wonderful vintage kitsch?? 1977 Royal Silver Jubilee tray, wicker trim, painted by esteemed royal portrait artist Leonard Boden. I think it's an absolute gem! Or am I losing the plot?!

Fancy grabbing a cheeky treat? It's the Blue Collar Christmas Market this weekend, Sat 25 & Sun 26 Nov (11am - 4pm), I'll be there along with other local independent and vintage stalls offering ceramics, jewellery, fashion, homeware, games, cameras, posters and much, much more. With street food, craft beer & mulled wine, DJs and live vocals too, NOT TO BE MISSED!!
Original, very large Earls Court exhibition poster 'Bodies: the Exhibition' (2006). This highly controversial event generated headlines around the world for its use and display of 28 cadavers, real human bodies preserved and poised in various poses, some of which were believed to be executed Chinese political prisoners. The poster, measuring 1.8m x 1.2m, has been kept dry, secure and rolled-up, so is in good condition. £175, please message if of interest and to arrange delivery.
Have I found the most 1970s pair of stools in the world?!
It's been quite a busy few months here at McConnell Vintage Co, travelling very far and wide for new pieces, stocking my eBay shop and planning my events calendar: first up, Walthamstow Flea Market, Sunday 22 October with some stonking original vintage and antique posters, enamel signs, skulls, trunks, lamps, furniture, cameras and much more besides. Please check out my eBay (link in bio), more stock going live soon.
Busy morning at the best flea market I've ever been to (and spotted, right before I left, it had 'the visit' from the great man on the telly, literally). Just a few of the many original, mid-century East European posters, enamel advertising and street signs coming home with me. Mostly Soviet-era, which I love, as well as some pre-war stuff, amazing to come across. Hopefully more of the same tomorrow.
In Wurzburg tonight, about half way to Budapest, I reckon. Arrived in beautiful Brussels last night, up ridiculously early this morning, sadly for slim pickings though I do love the large stash of early 70s saucy French postcards (French speakers, are they using double entendres?! Not a big fan of double entendres myself, though occasionally I slip one in). Long drive tomorrow across the rest of Germany, through Austria and on to Bratislava for another very early flea on Friday, Budapest by Friday night!
Last fair for me for a little while, about to take a few weeks off before hitting the flea markets of Eastern Europe later this month.
I've some fab new stock with me today, open from 11am at Peckham Salvage Yard, always a brilliant flea market, some of the country's best mid-century dealers here.
A glimpse of the vintage British erotica I'll be bringing to this Sunday: original, 1950s/1960s British p**n magazine photos, £5 each this Sunday, 18 June 11am - 4pm.
