Wonderful news from Burghfield Spices! Thank you to everyone who help achieve such a great result.
**One of the most important and special things about living in our village is how we come together to support each other as one community. As we announced The Hatch Gate and Burghfield Spices would donate all profits on June 7th to Mortimer St Mary’s & Mortimer St John’s infant school fund for improving school playgrounds facilities and we've had a brilliant day serving you all. We are humbled and grateful for all of your support.
With your additional custom, we are delighted to announce that £1010 profit has been declared, however Mashiur Rahman Buddy (Owner) himself has generously decided to personally match profits pound for pound raise this to an amazing £2020 on his own for our village school!!
The entire team are as always very grateful for your custom and look forward to seeing each of you very soon.

School Closed - Friday 18th February 2022
I have made the difficult decision to close both Mortimer St. John's and Mortimer St. Mary's today, Friday 18th February, due to the extreme weather conditions, and the risk of flying debris and tree branches falling.
This decision has been made after consultation with the Chair of Governors, Mr Hassey, and based on the health and safety of all pupils and staff. Some staff travel significant distances into school, as well as some families living outside of the village.
Therefore, we will switch immediately to home learning. Teachers will now upload learning activities to Seesaw.
Stay safe everyone. Have a happy and safe half term.

Bag2school - Please can you help?
The volunteers who help with bags2school have raised an amazing £32,642.56 and saved £75,885kgs of clothes from landfill since it was started 13 years ago. We currently split the money raised three ways so St. John’s, St. Mary’s and Willink get a third share.
We are looking for volunteers to help out distributing the bags through letterboxes - something you can easily do with your children - and/or then collecting them when full - 30 minute job, driving around your allocated area picking up bags and dropping them to a garage where they are collected by Bags2school. It’s a job that comes up only three times a year so not at all onerous and a great way to ‘do your bit’ for your child’s school.
Please do consider stepping forward.
If you email [email protected] we will be happy to share more details.
A fabulous opportunity to join the team!
Thank you for all your wonderful donations for the homeless and the “Louise Purton toy appeal” in West Berkshire.
The children were delighted to meet Wendy from the Christian charity “Faith” to learn about the homeless in Reading and how their donations will help them. She said a big “thank you” to all the children.
The gifts and toys were collected and we are sure they will bring a smile to many children’s faces at Christmas time.
Here are some gorgeous photos taken at our tree planting last Friday at the fairground.
Englefield Estates gave a lovely talk to the children about how to plant trees correctly and care for them before they set off to plant approximately 50 trees.
The children were also helped by members of the Parish Council.
It was a great day! 🌳💚🍃
The Eco Warriors are launching 2 collections for the Christmas. They will be collecting brand new hats, gloves, socks and pants for the homeless men and women in Reading as well as brand new unwrapped toys for boys and girls from 0 to 19 years old in West Berkshire. All donations can be dropped at either school from Monday 29th Nov to Friday 10th Dec. Thank you !
Early bird prices end this Sunday. Both shows have already sold 2/3 of their tickets, so don’t delay. Early bird prices will save you up to 15% off!! To buy tickets visit: https://thelittleboxoffice.com/mortimervillage/
We would like to say a great big thank you, for all of the kind donations for the West Berkshire Foodbank that were brought into school as part of our Harvest celebrations. Across The Federation we received enough donations to fill 18 crates, which is amazing. Mrs Beswick, along with some of our Foundation Stage children, were delighted to meet Rosie and Daniel, from the foodbank, when the donations were collected on Monday afternoon. Rosie and Daniel would like to thank everyone for their generosity and kindness for helping to support those in need.
Don’t forget loose change weigh in starts on Monday 27th Sept and will go on all week. Children can bring loose change into their classroom in both schools. The class at each school that collects the most change will receive extra play! All monies received will go towards the Ridan composting system for St Mary’s school. Thank you for your support. 💚
Eco Warriors have been busy packaging up old pens to send of to Terracycle for recycling today. As well as keeping these pens from going into landfill, they will also earn money to help endangered animals!
Thank you for recycling your old pens with us & don’t forget to put them in our “blue hippo” bin outside our school gates!
The Eco Warrior Party Pack is back !!
