Little Leaf

Little Leaf sells plants, cut flowers, floral arrangements and seasonal wreaths.

I grow plants from seed with love in my garden and allotment in Caversham, Reading. All grown in peat-free compost to minimise my environmental impact and I try to be sustainable by encouraging my customers to return empty pots for reuse. I always have a large selection of plants for sale at Little Leaf plant stall on my drive from February until October open daily from 10am - 6pm, with regularly

I was commissioned to make these wedding buttonholes. The customer asked for something to complement an ivory wedding dress, with a hint of purple. I think these will look timeless and stunning 👰🤵

I never used to be a big fan of Dahlias. But since I started growing them two years ago I’ve completely changed my mind.
Finally, they’ve started to bloom 🌸 all my favourites, including ‘Cafe au Lait’.
Some of them will be dried and used in my autumnal, everlasting creations 😀

Customers often ask me what is the secret to growing sweet peas so I’ll let you in on it.

Here are 3 tips that will help you succeed:
1. Sow seeds in the autumn in deep pots in quality peat-free compost (they have long roots)
2. Overwinter them in a frost-free place e.g. cold frame, greenhouse or conservatory. Water sparingly only when the soil is dry.
3. Replant in the ground with more compost or manure in Feb if under cover, or end April/beg. May outdoors. Feed with liquid fertiliser every 2 weeks. They are hungry plants!

Sowing this early will give you longer stems. Some reach over 30cm long!

Mine have been producing beautiful sweet-scented flowers for almost 3 months.
There are posies for sale on the stall every day this week

How have you got on with yours this season? Slugmaggedon or sweet pea heaven?!
Let me know in the comments x
