Unfortunately the Nag’s garden will be closed this afternoon / evening for a private function 💜

Footy season is back (did it ever really go away?)

It brings with it the first footy bus of the season for the visit to the Mad Stad of Wigan Athletic

The bus will remain a ticketed affair, door to door service, with the price remaining at £5 return…what a bargain, what a bargain…

Tickets available from the Big G in the Big Marquee 🎟️

First come first served. Ticket holders must remain on the premises unless buying f**s and s***f

Not food though, we sell food, please respect Christine’s toasties, and Josh’s 14 hour on site slow smoked pork & beef brisket rolls…local takeaways are not welcome…not that they’re not lively too but save them for the walk home

Going forward there will be a pop up food stand on match days, probably from the wonderful Pattie n Pulled with their excellent dirty burgers and dirty fries

Are we ready for the Euros?

Nope!

Well not quite, but we almost are...

Our garden AV system has been completely refurbished and now features up to 6 screens across 26 tables

Including a bigger screen in the outside area for al fresco sport watching, should the sun ever come out!

BBQ 's for all England matches along with this evenings opening ceremony are brought to you by the delicious Pattie n Pulled serving various verions of burgers and fries

Table service will be in place during busy times so you won't have to miss any minutes of the big matches

Plenty of capacity so don't worry about sardine syndrome...39 tables in all, plus standing room

Tomorrow evening we will be pouring Two Flints Brewery's first ever cask beer, 'Yonks', a collaboration with the fantastic Newbarns Brewery of Edinburgh

Yonks is a pale pale brewed with a base of Chevalier Heritage Malt to provide a rich and robust malt character...a touch of light Munich and Chit add complexity and that all important head retention.

It is hopped with Simcoe, Columbus cryo and Cascade spectrum for notes of pineapple, grapefruit zest and pine needles

Not managed to catch the Nags Head Fc yet?

We don't blame you, sod getting up at 10am on a Sunday morning to go and stand in the cold (although many do!) and if you have to get out of bed then it is probably for good rerason and your time is already allocated!

However this evening the Nags have an evening game 😳

It is at Prospect Park (Liebenrood Rd side) against Arbor Athletic FC and it kicks off at 18:00 hrs

Big match this as the Nags are currently top of the league but are being chased down hard by 3rd place South Reading

So if you have an hour or two spare this fine spring evening then come and give the boys a cheer 👏

Maybe even bring a beer🍻

And we are very proud to say they have chosen to celebrate their first anniversary at the The Nags Head

In other news tomorrow sees Reading welcome Blackpool FC to the Select Car Lease stadium

With Reading securing their place in D1 last weekend and Blackpool in with a chance of a place in the playoffs, this has all the makings of a cracking finale to a difficult season

The Footy bus will of course be running, and being as it is an early kickoff we will be opening early...doors from 10am

We will also be selling El Jefe lager in tribute to the fantastic job Rubén Sellés has done this season

Today is Mayday at the Nags 🍻

No we know it's not 1st May...this is Mayday, as in a cry for help

It has been organised by McColl's Brewery And BarthHaas X in aid of Men's Mental Health awareness

You can find out more by clicking the links below, but long story short is McColl's did 6 collaboration beers with 6 of their good beer industry friends and 15p from every pint is going to men's mental health charities, Men's Pie Club, MANUP?, and The Grieving Pint.

As well as the Mayday beers here at the Nag's we thought the wall looked silly with 6 beers on so we have added 2 Siren Craft Brew beers, Lumina and Suspended in New Zealand to the mix, which we will also be donating 15p from each pint to the 3 nominated charities

And as one final bonus we have managed to find a cask of the McColl's Brewery x Brew York 'A Problem Shared', which will come on some time this afternoon...and yep you guessed it...15p from each pint will go to charity
