Simple but effective little job this week!

Installing a weatherproof IP66 rated double socket but with a slight difference, this one is a smart WiFi controlled socket, specially request by a customer that needed a solution to charge his hybrid car from 12 midnight to 5am when the electric is slightly cheaper…every penny counts 🤷🏻‍♂️

Controlled by a smart app on your phone (IOS and Android compatible) so you can set up multiple timers or turn it on or off remotely, Alexa compatible also, ideal for this type of application and it is also perfect for setting up Christmas lights or decorations if you wanted that automation…can also be turned on or off by button control on the socket if required!

This customer recently had a kitchen makeover and all the cupboards have been sprayed which looks fantastic but it was just missing something.

Installing these warm white (which can be changed to cool white) plinth lights complemented the job perfectly and along with replacing all the old cupboard door hinges with soft closing hinges, the kitchen has been transformed.

Back to building gates in gaps!

This build needed some careful attention because of the gas pipe lower down and the old gate was recessed into the render on 3x2” posts but I always install my gates on 4x2” tanalised C24 posts for strength and longevity so I had to carefully cut into the render to allow for wider posts but house is being renovated and the wall and concrete post will be render finished for a perfect finish soon enough.

Blinded by the lights 😎

Returned to a previous customers home today to retrofit these warm white LED strips into the side trims.

The customer wasn’t sure about having LED lights fitted when I installed his mid walnut acoustic panels 6 weeks ago but having seen the results from my latest installs where I have installed LED lights, the customer had a change of mind!

It was a bit more difficult to hide the cabling and refit the diffusers with the trims and panels in situ but everything worked out a treat and the result is stunning!

These lights have an unbroken LED strip instead of the more traditional LED bulbs like you normally see resulting in a solid, warmer effect and certainly brighter.

Fully controlled by an app on your phone (available in IOS and Android) and it allows you to turn both LED strips on or off simultaneously, dimmer function from 0 to 100% and to set a timer function if required. It connects to your WiFi so it’s operable when away from home so you can turn your lights on or off when you’re on holiday for extra security.

The LED strips come in varying lengths and can also be cut to fit with a self adhesive backing so can be installed anywhere in the home eg kitchen plinths, kick boards, pelmets or under wall units or even outside in weatherproof diffusers and the magic is, it’s all controlled by an app on your phone if needed.

That’s the Christmas movies sorted then 🍿🎥

I’m really impressed with these lights and the customer is over the moon with them and I’m sure I’ll be implementing them more in the future!

I thought I would take a few minutes to write this post, it’s more informative than anything.

Last year, around November time, I was asked to build a number of media walls for customers that wanted them completed for Christmas and I just didn’t have the time to squeeze everyone in so this year I’m trying to be a bit preemptive as I have 4 confirmed media walls/acoustic panels walls to construct as well as all the other confirmed work I have booked.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you’re thinking about having a media wall built or a TV installation or even acoustic panels installed for Christmas, please don’t leave it until it’s too late because every time I post the latest build that I have done, I get an influx of messages and queries to give quotes for media walls which I’m more than happy do do, I genuinely love building them and I take great pride in my workmanship and reputation but I absolutely hate letting people down because there are only so many hours in the day and each one takes a lot of planning and scheduling and it would make me happy knowing someone will be watching James Bond on Christmas Day in front of their new media wall 🎄🎅

I’m not trying to do a B&M and sell Christmas early, I’m just attempting to make as many customers as happy as possible after the awkward and disappointing conversations I had to have last year and December just comes up so fast 😬

Every now and then, a customer will get in touch with a shopping list of specific requirements and in a way that’s refreshing because you’re then designing something from the customers vision, this build was exactly that.

The customer has seen previous media walls I had installed and wanted something similar but with LED lights concealed in the top trim and wanted a clean install with no cables or sockets on show on the panels…not a problem, happy to oblige 🙌🏻

After getting the wall dot and dabbed so I could install the dark grey acoustic panels to a flat surface, it was time to make the customers vision a reality.

4 panel install with 2 side and a top trim, re-position the existing sockets and adding a mid level double socket for the 65” SKY GLASS, removing the existing wall lights and making good the wiring and then adding cabling for the LED RGBCCT lights that will be fitted to the top trim.

These lights are all singing and dancing!

They can be controlled by Alexa, voice and app (compatible with IOS and Android) and so many different light variations it’s unreal, you can turn them on and off for security through the app when you’re away from home or set a timer to turn them off, even have them dancing to music 🕺🏻💃

Really effective when it goes dark and with the 65” SKY GLASS it really makes watching a movie something special!

The install has transformed the living room into a media room and the customer is over the moon with this project!

Super clean looking, extremely low profile from the wall and looks fantastic.

The room is going to be decorated to suit the newly installed media wall and with the new reclining sofas, it’s going to be an experience the whole family can enjoy!

All finished and signed off with a freshly decorated room and the finished job is stunning!

85” Samsung ‘frame’ TV, Alexa controlled curtain concealed lights, 7:1 surround sound system, all cables concealed…in fact it’s everything you would want for a movie night you won’t forget in a hurry 🤪

Completed acoustic slat panel media wall in Rhyl, installation included a 65” Samsung TV install complete with high level double socket and brush plate, 1800mm Matt finish media unit housing 2 hidden double sockets and also a concealed 8K HDMI cable!

I’ve been sent a few messages asking what colour these panels are and it’s mid walnut.

I’ve been waiting on the plumber to finish some pipe work for the radiator in the corner to fit the final trim which wasn’t the easiest because that whole corner has a bow so cutting and trimming the last piece to fit exactly was a challenge but I got there and the result is stunning 🤓

It exceeded the customers expectations and gives the living room a nice feature.

Excuse the dusty floor, there is extensive decorating work being carried out throughout the house but you get the general idea 🤪

Returned to a current customer’s house in Prestatyn after I built big double gates to go in his car port, to fit some gate hooks and he was so impressed with his gates, he asked me to build him another smaller one at the other side of the property to restrict access so I was only too happy to oblige (especially after his cups of coffee are delicious…thanks Ray 🤣)

Only installed one post as I didn’t want to disturb the render on the house and the existing 4x2 was solid and this gate is more for aesthetics than practicality.

The customer was made up and now has brand new gates either side of his house giving him complete privacy and peace of mind!
