The stand this year, (Stand 330 in Hall 6) will have a more diverse and expansive range of products on show than ever before from the Rochdale manufacturer that supplies oxy/fuel, plasma, waterjet and fiber laser cutting machines. Kerf will also be introducing two brand new machines at MACH.

These exhibits will be complemented with automated cutting solutions from; Lincoln Electric's PythonX, Lincolns collaborative welding solution, Linc-Cobot, the revolutionary twin-wire MIG welding solution, HyperFill® and Lincolns automated beam welding technology from Zeman Machines

We are often asked what differentiates Kerf’s factory refurbished plasma cutting machines when compared against other second hand cutting machines.

The Kerf RUR and RUM machine upgrade program is in place to bring older machines back to their original standard. The machines are previously enjoyed machines that have in the main been traded in for newer machines where customers requirements have changed. This can be based on the machine size (larger cutting table) or possibly cutting capability such as the latest UltraSharp cut quality.

In all cases the machines are completely stripped down with every part inspected. The modular design of the machines mean that older controllers or drive systems can be upgraded or replaced if required, or a more modern control system could be fitted to provide additional functionality. The cutting tables are also refurbished as part of the program.

The rebuilt machines can be fitted with either their original plasma system, or alternatively a new plasma system. Irrespective of the configuration, the equipment is delivered and installed by Kerf and supplied with a full Kerf parts and labour warranty. Long term service, support, spares and consumables are all available from stock.

The machines that we currently have available are RUR models with a 3m x 1.5m, 4m x 2m, 8m x 2m sized cutting tables.
Refurbished plasma units include a 275amp Proline high definition system, a Lincoln Electric Spirit 275 with UltraSharp. Both units are capable of piercing and cutting 32mm mild steel

New plasma units that are available include the latest Lincoln Electric Fineline plasma 170amp unit or 300amp system, both offering UltraSharp best in class cut quality. The 170amap unit can pierce and cut 30mm whilst the 300amp Fineline can pierce 45mm

Brand new, large format RUR3500 high definition plasma cutting machine with UltraSharp cut quality.

The machine is fitted with a Burny 10 LCD and will have a top of the range INOVA electronic torch height control system added next.

The machine has 6m x 3m heavy duty cutting tables, these could be extended if required.
Available with a choice of Lincoln Electric Fineline 170amp or Fineline 300amp plasma units. These high quality systems can pierce and cut mild steel from 1mm to 30mm or 1mm to 45mm respectively. They can also cut stainless steel, galvanised plate and Hardox.

This is best in class machine tool that will provide years of reliable service, with service and spares available from stock. The machines also benefit from the latest UltraSharp cut quality. This process uses proven material databases to consistently cut components of the highest possible quality. The system works out the most appropriate speeds and feed, gas pressures and most appropriate lead-in and lead-out strategies for a given component or nest of components. The result is consistently high cut quality. Fume extraction and filtrations systems are available as part of a complete turnkey package.

Next off the production line in a couple of weeks will be an RUR2500p with a 4m x 2m cutting table. It can be supplied as a 6m x 2m or 8m x 2m.

The is a high specification machine fitted with a Lincoln Electric Spirit 275amp plasma system and INOVA electronic torch height control. The machine has Kerf's UltraSharp cut quality and benefits from having a 7m x 2m cutting table. This makes it ideal for processing 4m x 2m, 6m x 2m or two 3m x 1.5m plates pendulum loaded.

The machine can pierce and cut 32mm mild steel and would cut 60mm mild steel or Hardox with an edge start. Available with options such as CADCAM and nesting software and fume extraction and filtration.

There is always a lot of interest when we complete a factory refurbished machine. The size and capabilities of the machines are dependent upon what our customers are upgrading from. Not all the refurbished machines are suitable or configured for UltraSharp.

So we are giving you plenty of notice of an RUR2500p that will be available in a few weeks time.

It has an eight metre by two metre heavy duty cutting table, Burny control system, INOVA electronic, Lincoln Electric Spirit plasma system (275 amps) with UltraSharp cut quality and an optional fume extraction and filtration system. The machine would be supplied with a Lantek Expert CADCAM and nesting system.

This machine would enable you to cut high quality components at high speed. It will pierce and cut 32mm mild steel if required.

Alternatively the machine could be supplied with a Fineline 300 unit that will pierce and cut 45mm

Their first machine back in 2016 was a factory refurbished RUR with a 275 amp High Definition plasma system.

This has now been integrated with an additional RUR3000 fitted with one of the latest Lincoln Electric Fineline 300amp plasma systems with the best in class UltraSharp cut quality. Commissioning is now complete, and the new twin bridge machine will be in full production next week. A very tidy installation. Well done lads !

The new enhanced table is 16 metres long by 2.6 metres wide and will be used for the production of structural steel parts and fittings. The machine has been built with a higher bridge to enable structural beams to be processed by the customer.

The Ferrari logo was imported, edited slightly so there would be no floating scrap and then cut out of 10mm thick aluminium. As you can see, the cut quality from the Optima Waterjet is excellent.

Kerf steps up to the plate for West Midlands manufacturer - PES Media The West Midlands manufacturer claims to have the world’s largest reciprocating grinder and also the world’s largest Lumsden grinder.

Last week we were asked to show what we could do for a structural steel fabricator in a piece of 25mm thick mild steel.

I'd say it doesn't get much better than that, particularly on a machine costing just under a hundred thousand pounds. The part in 25mm thick steel has 20mm, 25mm and 30mm diameter holes!

The part has been cut on a Kerf RUR machine with INOVA electronic torch height control, and the latest Lincoln Electric Fineline plasma system, controlled by the Burny system and UltraSharp software.

An 8m x 3m RUR3500 with Lincoln Electric Fineline 300 amp plasma heading off down the M6 to the South East. An 8m x 2.5m RUR3000 heading over to Ireland, and last but not least a very impressive 4m x 2m RUR2500 on its way to the East coast.

The RUR2500gp machine can cut from 0.7mm thick galvanised plate through to 150mm thick mild steel plate. Not sure there is a laser on the market to get anywhere near that cutting capability 😎
