Just a gentle reminder that, for at least two decades, no vehicles have been allowed in Rochester High Street between 10am and 4pm every Saturday.
This includes if you cross the High Street between the width restrictions outside Tiny Tim's of Rochester and between The Cheese Room Botanicals Rochester and The King's Head pub.
There are no chains anymore, just an ANPR camera waiting to snap your number plate.... and send you a Penalty Charge Notice next week...
Please help keep our High Street safe on a Saturday... and save yourself some money too.
Happy Easter 🐣 x
It’s been made aware to us that the metal rope barriers that stop cars from entering Rochester High Street on Saturdays were not put up today, but the restrictions were still in place. Instead, ANPR cameras have been installed, and fines will be issued to cars entering the High Street on Saturdays, or turning left or right on other days when entering from the Castle end.
Please share this post with family and friends to help raise awareness and stop unwanted fines from being issued!
Wishing all our lovely customers a very merry Christmas 🎄 stay safe and be well . See you all in the new year ❤️ xx

NEWS: We're introducing ANPR in the Corporation Street and Blue Boar Lane car parks in from Tuesday, 13 June.
Motorists will still be able to park in a bay at the Corporation Street car park for free for 20 minutes to pick up, or drop off, people using Rochester railway station.
ANPR will make it easier for residents to park and enjoy all Rochester has to offer, rather than worrying about having to rush back to their vehicles when their pre-paid parking ticket runs out.

Rochester Esplanade access closed for three weeks
January 3, 2023
Road users are advised there is to be a three-week closure of access to Rochester Esplanade near Rochester Bridge, while SGN carries out essential gas main replacement works.
SGN’s contractor, WCB Utilities, will be closing the carriageway from the turning next to The Crown public house and Rochester Bridge, to the bottom of Castle Hill on Monday, 16th January, from 8am. Parking will be suspended on Sunday, 15th, to enable works to begin promptly.
This means it will not be possible for motor vehicles to turn right from Rochester Bridge when travelling from Strood, or left from the High Street or Corporation Street/A2 when travelling from Rochester. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Road access to Castle Hill will be possible as the rest of Rochester Esplanade will be kept open or subject to single lane closures only. Diversions will be implemented and signed by SGN’s Contractor.
The closure is to allow SGN’s contractor to replace a gas main, starting outside 1 Esplanade. While the rest of Rochester Esplanade can be kept open to traffic during the works, this area requires some additional working that could not be safely carried out under single lane closure conditions.
The closure has been agreed in liaison with local stakeholders to ensure there is no clash with other planned roadworks. It will take place on Rochester Esplanade with permission from landowner the Rochester Bridge Trust – these works are otherwise unrelated to the Trust.
For more information the public can contact SGN on 0800 9121700.
Wishing our lovely customers and their families a very Merry Christmas and hope to see you in the New Year xx
