Starting to see issues on series s now other than the . This one had a shorted capacitor prevented unit from powering on. Once found removed offending part and replaced. Now working fine.

An HP device came in today that wouldn't power on or charge. Upon opening it, I tested the power rails using an external power source and discovered a short on one of them. Investigating further, I found a row of four capacitors, all indicating a short. Clearly, not all of them were faulty, so I injected voltage into them and used a thermal camera to identify the culprit, which lit up like the sun. I replaced the faulty capacitor, and now the device is working perfectly.

Dead came in today but was drawing on our . Tried a reboot but no difference. Unbonded the and removed the motherboard. Applied power to the board and using our found a few extremely hot components. Removed and tested them, found a shorted capacitor that can be seen in the photos next to a 10p for size. Replaced and now working fine.
