Thank you Bemsee Instructors…… Some recognition for one group of Bemsee’s unsung hero’s
Just a few words to say thank you to all of the Bemsse Instructors who give up so much of their own time, expense and expertise to help any Bemsee rider who asks for their services on the test day via our portal.
Bemsee is so proud to have started Race School many decades ago, and alongside that, was the evolution of the Instruction availability throughout the season. This has now developed further into the Rider Development Program which has seen thousands of riders get quality support on everything from lines, body position, race craft, starts, wet and dry confidence and many more areas of our wonderful sport to develop.
Every Instructor is a Bemsee racer through and through, the majority of whom are still racing in our championships and have all put their name forward to give back to the sport and make it safer. The Instruction goes hand in hand with the exceptional amount of Marshals, Medics and Tech officials the club has to ensure its bar on safety is the highest of any club.
Every Instructor goes through the ACU Club Coach program and is therefore officially qualified to teach the skills they pass on, particularly with juniors. Inhouse mentoring with the more experienced instructors ensures the best personal, and group, growth is always evolving and shared.
Instructors have a minimum of 3 seasons under their racing belt with a proven track record of results, but not everyone makes the cut as an instructor. Back in “the good old days” it was always the fastest riders that were chosen but this doesn’t necessarily make them a great coach.
Communication is key and the range of Instructors Bemsee has at its disposal for its members goes across all classes, and indeed all personalities. One thing that is guaranteed is they care greatly for the improvement, safety and fun of the riders under their wing.
On average there are around 20 Instructors per round available from our pool of 30. This number does vary given the instructors availability. Every effort is made to allocate an instructor to every request made but sometimes demand outweighs supply which we all work together on to try and get some guidance to everyone, even if that means phone calls and garage chats on the day!
We have group communication media that ensures all ideas are shared and we are also well prepared for the instruction days. Everyone jumps in to help if there is a last minute challenge and we all work as a team to get the best for the riders we look after.
Bemsee has a focused team of instructors working with the Ninja juniors, headed up by Konrad Breese (Ninja Rider rep), who are committed to developing the young talent and also be on hand to answer any queries from Mum and Dad! All of the Instructors in this group have ridden Ninjas themselves so understand the nature of bike fully.
There is no greater reward for an instructor than when their rider becomes faster then they are through skill and not bravery. At this point the riders will be moved to a faster instructor (or one with a faster bike!) to continue their development. Remember we can never know anything and we never stop learning. With different bikes come new challenges too.
So please join me in thanking all of your Bemsee Instructors who really do go above and beyond not only in personal time, expense and effort but also with passion and commitment that is second to none in making Bemsee the safest place to race.
If you have any questions on any of the information in this article I’m only too happy to anything either via a PM or a call.
Jeremy Hill - Director of Rider Development
Ride safe everyone and remember…… we never stop learning ;-)

Wow, top job guys, Brookes very lucky to have support from you
It’s great to be able to help out another young racer in the paddock. Brooke Champion Racing #26 and her dad were really stuggling at Donington Park with Bemsee. The team stepped in and got to work on her bike as they had been left with a bike that was in a state and unsafe to race from a company claiming to be top of their game in motorcycle mechanics. Brooke and her dad are new to this so trusted and believed they were in good hands. Let’s just say I wouldn’t let the guy that not only did fix her bike but gave it back to them in a worse state, look at fixing my daughter’s push bike.
The team did a great job and gave her a safe bike to ride but unfortunately the gearbox issue that had supposedly been fixed hadn’t.
A Big thank you to two of our team James Layton and Nigel Franklin clubbing together to rent Brooke the Bemsee hire bike.
Look at the smile of one young happy rider again picking up a new bike from Peter Marsh.
Pete says - It’s great to be able to help another young racer starting on their journey into the world of motorcycle racing and I’ve had this bike in the garage for the last 2 years so to see a big smile like this give me great satisfaction in what we do at RD Racing.
Good Luck Brooke and remember you only have to ask and keep smiling.
