It's been a humbling experience watching the project grow, thank you to everyone involved and to all those supporting us. Entry is free to the event on Sunday, so please come down and get behind the boys.

WHAT'S ON IN JULY ⛵️

🐯 If your kids love the natural world, science or the great outdoors then the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary's Focas Festival is not to be missed (1 July)!
🌿 Find out more about the life, work and history of Quarr Abbey. Join the Guided Tour of the Church every Wednesday throughout July and August.
🚂 Visit the Isle of Wight Steam Railway for their 1940s Experience (1 & 2 July), Young Engineers Day (8-9 July), Real Ale Train (15 July) & The Steam Railway Proms (29 July).
⛵️ Attracting over 1,000 boats, the annual Round the Island Race takes place on 1 July.
🎶 The Wight Proms Wednesdays return on 5 July with award-winning mezzo-soprano, Louise Callinan.
🌊 Cowes Classics Week celebrates its 16th year with a whole host of activities both on and off the water (8-14 July).
🐑 The Royal Isle of Wight County Show promises a bumper crop of fun and entertainment over two days. Learn more about the Island’s farming, food and countryside (8 & 9 July).
🏳️‍🌈 Isle Of Wight Pride will take place in Eastern Gardens, Ryde, from 14-16 July with free entertainment including a launch party, live music and the Pride Parade.
🌅 Sunset Sessions at Blackgang Chine- Land of Imagination will see you transported to Ibiza, with O Beach Headliner and Ministry of Sound artist Ellie Sax (14 July).
🧄 The Garlic Farm will host the wonderful 'Opera on the Move' company on two evenings (21 & 22 July) for an Opera Gala with 'A Night in Seville'.
🎭 Ventnor Fringe Festival, featuring gigs, comedy and performances in unusual spaces around Ventnor, will return this year from 21-30 July.
🏉 South Island Sevens will showcase nine sports across two days including rugby, netball, kite foiling and much more, in Ryde (22-23 July).
🏖 Head to Seaview on 22 July for 'Party on the Prom' - there'll be music, dancing food and drink and a raffle.
🌿 National Trust Isle of Wight's Mottistone Gardens will host 'Pollinators' Prom' from 22 July to 4 September, while the 'Newtown Randy-O' will take place at Newtown Nature Reserve over the same dates.
☀️ Get ready to dance the night away as the Isle of Wight's BIGGEST family party - Summer Fest - returns to Blackgang Chine- Land of Imagination for Summer 2023 (26 July - 30 August)!
🎊 Newport Main Carnival will take place on 22 July, with Sandown Main Carnival on 29 July.
🧑‍🌾 Tapnell Farm Park will host a number of activities in July including 'The Island's Biggest Kids Party' (27 July-31 August) & 'Farm Fun and Film Nights' from 25 July-29 August.
⛵️ One of the UK's longest-running sporting events - Cowes Week - takes place this month from 29 July through to 4 August.

FOCAS FEST - Focus on Conservation and Science Festival The Wildheart Trust

Great weekend for our very own South Island Sundays, gearing up nicely for the South Island Sevens! 4 weeks to go!

What a weekend! 4 wins from 4 in the group games put us to the final in the Worthing 7s second tier competition. We met a strong Surrey Exiles side who had progressed into the last 2 in a similar fashion. The Exiles were operating at a level above our pool games in terms of physicality and sharpness and without doing too much wrong we were down 3 scores approaching half time. The Sundays are player led and the ability of the group to assess the situation and apply a plan was outstanding; the second half was a very different affair. Without any panic, hits were harder, intensity addressed, 2 scores brought us back into the game and although the Exiles went on to win we have a new outlook on the possibilities ahead of us as a group.

Debuts from Kemp Price, Jacob Jordan & Chris Omerod who were all outstanding, combined with the availability of Max Fletcher means selection of a squad of 12 for the South Island Sevens on July 23rd is going to be a tough one.
