We have just cooked the last breakfasts for 2023 and have now closed up for our Christmas Break. I would like to thank all our guests who have stayed with us in 2023 and wish you all a very merry Christmas and we look forward to catering for many of you once again in 2024. I would also like to thank the staff who have worked hard throughout the year enjoy your break before we do it all again in 2024.

Whoever has just thrown an object at our windows and smashed two of them you actions have been caught on our cctv system so do yourself a favour and come and see us before the police come and see you. Your tracksuit is quite distinctive as are the captures of your image.

I have purchased my coffee and some cleaning materials from Beta Pak previously Island tea and coffee company for the past 25 years. Part of the package was you pay slightly more for your coffee for the provision of a free pour and serve machine. Last week I received a call that they were introducing a monthly maintenance charge of £21.50 per month, the machine has not be maintained for the last six years and we did our own descaling and cleaning. Under no circumstances are we prepared to pay this charge so we have ended our relationship with them and asked them to close our account. A new pour and serve unit has been purchased and we will now buy our coffee at a realistic price rather than an inflated price. After 25 years the customer care and attitude of some of the staff at Betapak has been appaling since last Monday and I am sure they will lose more loyal good paying customers. Businesses be warned you may be next!!

On This day 25 years ago the purchase of the Dorset was completed and we moved in at 5.25 p.m. and opened the doors to guests the next day. 25 years later and we are still here catering for many guests many who have become friends over the years and cooking approximately 7000 plus breakfast per year. In 1998 there was three of us Christopher Dolphin, David Robinson and myself. Chris retired from the business in 2015 and has since passed away. David and myself along with the staff have carried on the business and David took a more active role once Chris had retired. We had our experiences including burst water tanks in the big freeze, attempted suicides and attempted murders, many domestic disputes amongst guests in the night. We have welcome celebrities from dancing on ice and also William Roach(Ken Barlow), Caroline Flack to name a few. I would like to thank all our customers over the years for your support and to members of staff who have worked in the team for many years to keep the hotel running.

Great another power cut in the night

Wow! just receieved my gas bill for the period November - January 2023. This years bill £2710.00 the same period last year £643.00. Prices will have to go up! the energy prices if fuelling high inflation and crippling small businesses. Especially when Centrica advise 3.3 billion profit for the last year.

And we are open again after the Christmas break and look forward to welcoming our first guests of 2023 this afternoon.

the town was buzzing tonight for the intenational scooter rally and we welcome all the scooterist but whoever attacked DJ Tara in the marine bar is not welcome and should be barred from other scooter rallys hopefully the marine cctv should be able to identify the peson involved and we hope that Jon Tara is ok, he was providing great entetainment for all concerned and this attack was unprovoked.

In 2019 a dispute between two individual rooms over noise resulted in a vicious attack and assault with one person being battered and bottled. At the crown court last week the person accused pleaded guilty ( had to with what was on the cctv) and was sentenced to 100 hours unpaid work a fine of £145.00 and a 15 month prison sentence suspended for 24 months. We are glad this case has now been finalised as those who had seen the cctv witnessed the ferocity of this attack.

Unfortunately we had a contract for the supply of Gas for the hotel with CNG who is one of the companies that went into administration in the past fortnight. I have been inundated with brokers offering scare tactics to sign now to prevent your costs going through the roof. A one stage it looked like I would be paying an additional £9000 per year after holding my time I have now managed to negotiate an increase of approximate £1,500 on the previous price with CNG. MPLC Licensing how many businesses have paid for this additional umbrella licence. The form seems very unprofessional and loosely worded. Some people have said it is a scam and before I contact Trading standards for clarification I thought I would ask the business world.
