A big diolch yn fawr to this very lovely group who joined Dai and Rug last night for some medieval merriment in St Davids!
No tours now until the 11th September, so see you then.
UPDATE: TONIGHT'S TOUR POSTPONED
Tonight's tour is sadly postponed. The forecast is not giving us enough confidence to go ahead and after recent weeks we'd rather not chance it and get everyone drenched again!
Those booked on tonight are welcome to join our tour tomorrow, same time and place.
Typically it won't rain tonight now
Many thanks to this great bunch who joined Dai and Rug for an adventure round Britain's Smallest City this evening!
Next tour is tomorrow (Friday evening) at 5.30pm. Still some spaces available for that. Book via www.firedonkey.co.uk
Thanks to Tim who took this rather candid shot of Dai, Rug and Frank the dove on one of our recent tours.
Last weekend of August and we have a few more tours available this week. There might be a few spaces left for tonight if you're quick but Friday and Saturday eve are both still available. Book via firedonkey.co.uk.
Next week the tours slow down a bit but we'll still be going through to end of September. Diolch yn fawr to everyone who has been along on our tours since Easter (or since Tuesday, according to one recent newspaper article)
Well that was quite the soggy tour. Typically a forecast that suggested this afternoon that the rain would skirt around St Davids really meant that there would be a monsoon between 5.30 and 7. Thanks to those who turned out for it this evening and braved the rain, we really appreciate your commitment to 100% verifiably accurate history. We hope you've managed to find somewhere out of the wet. Dai and Rug are robes may take the rest of the calendar year to dry off, along with Rug's canvas, hence the lack of group portrait this evening.
We're next out on the streets of Tyddewi on Thursday evening, which is set to be a lovely day. .
Diolch yn fawr!
Big thanks to this fine group who joined us last night for what turned out to be a lovely evening of historical nonsense and zero viking raids.
Tonight's tour is going ahead despite the soggy forecast, so please dress accordingly if you are booked on!
Thanks to this lovely lot who joined us on a windy Sunday morning in St Davids. There was a 95% chance of rain to begin with but Dai pulled in a few favours and it stayed dry throughout. One more miracle to add to the back catalogue!
Tours are sold out Bank Holiday Monday and Tues but we do have spaces later in the week. See our website to book.
Big thanks/diolch yn fawr to this lovely Friday night group of pilgrims who joined Dai and Rug for more tall tales, myths and semi-historical nonsense in Britain's Smallest City.
No tour tomorrow. Our next one is Sunday morning. Still a few spaces remaining for that which can be booked through our website.
Storm Lillian didn't put everyone off last night. Thanks to those who braved the winds to join Dai and Rug for a 100% verifiably accurate adventure through time. It actually held up rather well for the tour itself. Overnight though we did have to save a monk who'd been blown over the walls of the Bishops Palace and was found upside down in a tree, dangling by a sandal. He was a bit shaken and had spent several hours being defecated on by jackdaws, but otherwise unharmed.
Thanks to the many pilgrims who joined Dai and Rug for last night's trip through time!
Our next tour is tomorrow (Thursday 22nd) and there are still some spaces left but don't leave it too late to book as spots are filling up fast this week.
See our website (firedonkey.co.uk) to book.
What a fine Saturday evening tour. Thanks to this lovely bunch of pilgrims who joined Dai and Rug for an adventure through time!
Thanks to this small but mighty group of pilgrims who joined Dai and Rug this balmy evening for a tour of Tyddewi.
Thanks to all who came out last night for what turned out to be a quite lovely evening for an adventure through time with Dai and Rug
Thanks to this great bunch who joined Dai and Rug for their latest (100% verifiably accurate) adventure round Britain's Smallest City.
No tour today. Our next one is tomorrow (Thursday) and there are a few spaces remaining on our website.
Quite a lot going on here. From our Monday night tour. Thanks to all these pilgrims for joining Dai and Rug on a bizarre trip down memory lane, and thanks also to our resident vikings for resisting storming the cathedral on this occasion.
Thanks to everyone who joined Dai and Rug last night for another 100% verifiably accurate trip down memory lane!
Thank you to these brilliant pilgrims for joining Dai and Rug on a whirlwind tour of semi-historical nonsense on this beautiful Friday evening.
We have another tour tomorrow evening (sat) and there are only a few spaces left which can be booked on our website.
A wonderful Wednesday evening stroll round Tyddewi with these pilgrims. Zero viking-related incidents to report. Many thanks to all!!
A portrait of Tuesday night's wonderful group of pilgrims. Thanks all for coming along and joining Dai and Rug's nonsense!
Huge thanks to these dedicated pilgrims who came out and decided to go ahead with the rainiest of tours. Quite possibly the wettest yet! Not even Dai's leek could hold it back. But nothing can deter some people's thirst for semi-historical nonsense.
Our next (hopefully dry!) tour is tonight (Tuesday) and there are a few spaces left (2) which you can book on our website: www.firedonkey.co.uk
Our lovely Sunday morning tour. Sundays you get to hear the bells ringing out from Porth y Tŵr, truly a magical end to any tour.
This was a hastily re-arranged tour on Friday to avoid the worst of the rain, such are we at the mercy of the elements on this Peninsula. Thanks to these pilgrims who made it and we'll hopefully see those who couldn't get there again soon!
We've had a request to start the tour earlier this afternoon so a bit last minute but we are going to start at 3.30pm for anyone who was booked on or who would like to jump on. In theory it'll relatively dry up until 5.
If you have booked through trip advisor we are now unable to contact you directly as they have considered the tour cancelled, so if you see this, please get in touch or just show up at 3.30pm outside Oriel y Parc.
Tonight's weather forecast only seems to be getting worse so unfortunately we've decided to cancel tonight's tour rather than risk it. Sorry to those booked on but I don't think anyone wants to be stood out in that orange deluge regardless of how much fun the tour is!
We have got another tour open tomorrow, same time, which will be dry so please come to that instead, but for anyone who can't make it please let us know and we will issue a refund.
One from the archives but an important message as ever regarding the most poisonous berry known to monks.
Tickets are selling out fast throughout August so if you do want to join us on one our 100% verifiably accurate tours , don't delay!
See www.firedonkey.co.uk for available dates and to book!
The pilgrims came out in force this glorious evening to join Dai and Rug for another 100% verifiably accurate tour of all the historic hot spots of St Davids
This happened once before and was documented by a chap called Bram Stoker. Don't say we didn't warn you when there's an outbreak of bloodsucking vampires in Pembrokeshire
Fisherman rescues unmanned mystery boat drifting off Pembrokeshire coast A fisherman and his crew rescued a mysterious ghost boat which was found drifting eight miles off the Pembrokeshire coast near Strumble Head.
Bore da! There's a few spaces left for tonight's tour available from our website (www.firedonkey.co.uk)

Yesterday at Newgale beach, our lifeguards rescued 6 people and assisted a further 8 from rip currents.
The combination of surf, wind and tide moving over the sandbanks at low tide caused flash rip currents to appear.
The location of flash rips can change every day and are impossible to predict. We dynamically assess the beach and move the flags accordingly.
If you find yourself caught in a rip current:
🌊don’t try to swim against it or you’ll get exhausted
🌊if you can stand, wade don’t swim
🌊if you can, swim parallel to the shore until free of the rip, then head for shore
🌊always raise your hand and shout for help

ST DAVIDS COMEDY WALKING TOUR
When they asked us if we could provide the greatest ever 100% verifiably accurate walking tour of St Davids, there was only one answer.
Yes.
Join your deadpan guide Liam and slapstick health and safety advisor Polly for a factually suspect comedy walking tour of historic St Davids, suitable for all the family. Having mined the darkest corners of the internet and thumbed through the dustiest shelves of literature, Liam and Polly have dispensed with all the facts and created a bizarre, fantastical and often unbelievable exploration of the lesser known legends lurking in Great Britain's smallest city. Through a combination of embellished storytelling, blood-thirsty re-enactments, and with a host of local historical characters to meet, this tongue-in-cheek (and fully insured!) tour takes a seed of truth and brings to life a semi-re-imagined version of the history of this proud little city.
Liam McKenna and Polly Preston are part of Pembs-based absurdist comedy group Fire Donkey Productions.
