The St Ives September festival kicks off this Saturday 14th September.

A festival that is part of the heritage of the town, we are delighted to be helping out with sponsorship once again. The two-week festival is firmly focused on art, culture an music, with a stacked line-up of all of the above across venues throughout the town.

From pubs like The Sloop, The Union and The Wink and Western Hotel to St Ia church, St Ives Art Club and galleries across the town.

We'll be sharing more about events at the festival in the coming days - but our main advice is to head into town and enjoy great live music and the atmosphere of the festival.

Wander around the picturesque harbour, enjoy the stunning views, and watch the boats come and go. It's the heart of the town and a place that is the quintessential Cornish seaside experience. If you are on the harbour, you have to visit The Sloop for a pint, it won't disappoint you.

Visit the Tate St Ives
Dive into contemporary art at this iconic gallery. The exhibitions are always changing, so there’s something new to see every time. We talk about The Art of Brewing, this is, in some parts, reference to our home towns history in the world of art - so soak up the art whilst your here.

Relax on Porthmeor Beach
With its golden sands and clear blue waters, Porthmeor is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or just chilling out. It is also an epic surf spot, one where you can get lessons on the beach or head out and enjoy some waves with friends. It's a lifeguarded beach and one with plenty of food and drink options either on, or just off the sand itself. You can also enjoy our beers in the takeaways and restaurants on the beach, places like The Fish Shed St Ives.

Take a Walk to The Island
Climb up to The Island for panoramic views of St Ives and the Atlantic Ocean. It's a great spot for a picnic too, or a place to enjoy a pasty. Cast your eyes out towards Godrevy lighthouse and across St Ives Bay and soak in just how stunning this place we call home is.

Indulge in Local Seafood
From fresh fish and chips to gourmet seafood dishes, the local cuisine is a treat for your taste buds. There are plenty of restaurants in St Ives that can help you with this, and many of them sell our beers too, so you can perfectly pair your meal.

Get Stalked by Seagulls

A small but beautiful town has been crowned UK’s ‘best’ seaside destination This charming coastal town has been described as the 'jewel in Cornwall's crown' due to its golden sandy branches and has been named Britain's 'best seaside town' despite only having a small population of 5500.

St. Ives Museum is 100 years old in 2024! To celebrate this milestone we will be launching a centenary trail around the town which will highlight notable events and activities in the town's history. There will be one stop for each decade of the museum's existence plus some others about the wider heritage of St. Ives such as fishing and mining. The trail will be launched on Wednesday 10th April and every day between now and then we will be releasing details of one of the items on the trail.

Today's item is from the 1920s - the opening of the Crysede factory on the Island in 1926. Crysede made wonderful silk clothing with hand printed designs. Many of the patterns were based on Cornish places and scenery, with names such as Godrevy, Mount’s Bay, Cornish Farm, St. Hilary, Isles of Scilly, Lelant Flowers, and Zennor.

This year St. Ives Museum has a new display of Crysede dresses and fabrics, presented in a recreation of one of the companies shop fronts. Come along and see them when the museum reopens on Monday 1st April and look out for the trail stop about Crysede which will be in Sea Salt on Fore Street from Wednesday 10th April.
