Our Story
The history of Platinum...
Martin and Jennifer Hood are the owners of Platinum IFS and over the last 19 years have built up the business to the team of 13 they are today. Martin started life in Reading and spent much of his childhood in the South West before moving to Leeds for University. He has lived in the North West since 1994 after he graduated, beginning his working life as a Quantity Surveyor for a large construction company. Jennifer grew up in Sale and returned to the area after University in Leeds where she met Martin. Martin joined Prudential as his first step into financial services and after some time working for another local independent financial adviser, the Platinum story began…
In 2001 (with their first child on the way!) Martin set up Platinum, working on his own with his office as the converted loft room at his house in Timperley. A few months later he found someone to help for a few hours a week with the administration and this soon developed into a regular part time role.
In 2003 after a house move, Platinum continued to operate from home, this time a converted garage at Martin’s house in Sale. A bigger room with two proper office desks and a photocopier! A year or so later Jen joined the business after taking redundancy from Standard Life and as time passed by space became limited….
