Well done to Iain Harrop and the volunteers on the ground and to Suzie and Michaela and the catering, bar and facilties team for such an excellent presentation of the club in its organisation and hosting of the Lancashire Thunder ladies' team in their 50 over match in the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy yesterday. The ground looked immaculate and the wicket played well - it's just a shame that Lancashire didn't get over the line after some spirited tail-end batting nearly rescued them from a top order collapse.
Leah Grimes did a great job behind the bar and the 10 strong Lancashire stewards team were full of priase for the club.
A great weekend of sport at the club. The U9s cricket team won a tournament at Styal winning all five of their matches to take the trophy. Meanwhile Sale Tennis Club won the prestigious Moor Lea Knock-out Trophy with a win at home in the final against Albert Tennis Club.
Heartache for the U18 cricket side as they finished level in the final of the 20/20 on Friday night aganist Stockport and lost the single over play-off after some great batting, bowling and fielding.
On Sunday, the cricket 3rd XI clinched the title in the Third Team Premier League with a convincing win away at Nantwich as the First XI continued their excellent run of four back to back wins which sees them 5th in the Ist Division with 3 matches to go.
Meanwhile three Ladies' Tennis teams - the first, seconds and fourths await news of whether they have all clinched promotion after successful seasons.
And on Saturday night - the pinnacle - as my snail romped home at 10-1 as a result of arduous training and the encouragement it needed to come out of its shell!

Come and watch City take on West Ham on the big screen in the function room and the big TV screen in the lounge bar - this Saturday - kick off 17.30 - and stay on for the Amazing Snail Racing by courtesy of Jemma Watterson Incredible Events inc. which follows the match in the function room.
And on Sunday - Manchester United v Liverpool kick off 16.00 on the big TV screen in the lounge bar - there is a christening in the function room at this time. This is not an alternative option for members to undergo a religious conversion - just an explanation of why the match is not on the big screen and an appeal to respect the privacy of our guests .
And after the excitement of the Euros - remember it's the club AGM this coming Wednesday July 17th 7.30.

One of Sale Sports Club Under 17 football teams are running the Manchester 10k today for a very good cause close to the club’s heart.
3 years ago this July one of the teams’ players died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. As a team, the Under 17 FC Sporting Sale Tigers, coaches and some parents are running the Manchester 10k in his memory and in aid of his family’s chosen charity. You may have seen a memorial garden in the corner of the club car park which is maintained by the team.
Any sponsorship would be very much appreciated

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL ARTS FESTIVAL IN A NEW VENTURE – OPERA COMES TO THE ROBERT BOLT THEATRE
FRIDAY JUNE 14TH
CURTAIN UP 7.00 p.m.
Like opera? Not sure? – or do you have stereotypical views about it – it’s boring; the sopranos are always screeching; the hero or heroine always ends up dead. Come prepared to change your mind about this art form.
In any event – the Flat Pack production of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro is for you. Performed by professionally trained singers, the opera is sung in English and has some of the most tuneful and pleasing arias, duets and choruses ever created.
The opera is a comedy with elements of pure farce – and it will be played for laughs – as Figaro tries to outwit his master’s attempts to have his way with the maidservant Figaro is about to marry.
Book direct with the Waterside

This is the third time Flat Pack Opera has come to Sale. Previous productions have been popular and acclaimed. We hope that the chance to perform in the Robert Bolt Theatre will allow more effective staging and attract a large local audience.
