We are proud to announce we have recently completed a Changing Places installation for ‘Cafe Hope’ at The Salvation Army UK & Ireland Territorial Headquarters building in Denmark Hill.

The Changing Places toilet goes above and beyond British Standards by including a Closomat wash and dry toilet, which washes and dries users automatically who might otherwise find it difficult to wipe. The inclusion of this toilet increases hygiene and dignity and makes the facility accessible to an even wider group of users.

Other equipment inside includes, a full ceiling tracking hoist, adult-sized, height adjustable changing bed (wall mounted), height-adjustable sink and privacy screen with 12m2 of space to incorporate users and carers as well as any mobility or medical equipment.

Andrew Justice, Senior Project Manager at The Salvation Army said: “It was an easy decision for us to install a Changing Places toilet in Cafe Hope. A key part of our mission is to serve people without discrimination and providing an accessible and inclusive facility that is open to the local community is a simple and very practical way to achieve that. Anyone is welcome to use the toilet during cafe opening hours and there is no obligation to buy anything in the cafe to get access to it.”
