Number 6 is a service for autistic adults who fit the following criteria:

· 16 and over

· Formally diagnosed with autism

· No additional learning disability

· Resident in Edinburgh, the Lothians or the Scottish Borders.

The service is provided by Autism Initiatives UK and was officially launched in June 2005, with the opening of the Number 6 One-Stop-Shop.

Number 6 provides free social opportunities and 1-1 advice and support on a range of issues.

They accept self-referrals and third-party referrals. If you would like to make a referral please email [email protected] and they will organise an initial appointment via phone/video call or in-person at Number 6.

AutAngel is an autistic-led Community Interest Company based in Reading, Berkshire.

For adults living in or around Reading, AutAngel runs a 10-week programme for people either diagnosed or self-identifying as autistic. This programme is called Exploring Being Autistic. You might need to sign-up for their waiting list as it is a popular course.

They also run a number of local peer support groups and activities including a mixed peer support group a women’s peer support group, a craft group and an allotment group.

In addition to their local support, AutAngel provides online groups and talks for autistic adults nationwide.

All staff, directors and advisory board members are autistic, as are all but one of their volunteers.

The Dyspraxic Help 4U podcast invites notable people in the dyspraxic community to discuss the struggles and successes they’ve had whilst living with hidden disabilities.

ADHD is more complex than it’s often perceived.
According to the community, there are multiple and diverse symptoms and aggravating factors. Among more than 300 symptoms, 94% report trouble starting or completing a task, 88% report trouble getting organized, and 87% report difficulties in remembering information. The most reported aggravating factors are stress and lack of sleep.
But many also report finding treatments that improved their symptoms, even if it took some time and adjustment - 44% of community members found a treatment that improved their symptoms by 2 or more levels!
