Some old photos of the hotel passed on by the previous owners.

We love this old photo of the Italian Gardens, on the South Cliff, and took a similar shot for modern day comparison. So little has changed, something we love about Scarborough.

Work started on the gardens in 1911, designed by prolific Scarborough Civic Engineer Harry W Smith, on a location which had previously comprised of two small rose gardens.

The gardens are now grade II listed on the English Heritages Register of Historic Houses and Gardens.

Scarborough Harbour and Lighthouse is only a 15 minute stroll from the hotel, taking in the Castle on the way scarborough.co.uk

Whitby is only half and hour away by car or you can take the bus from Peasholm Park for only £2!

And next weekend the Whitby Fish and Ships Festival is back with lots going on around the town
