Well what an absolutely beautifully busy couple of weeks, so much love for all the new connections and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us from The Scarborough Fair & down at Scarborough Museums and Galleries. We’re so grateful to you all…you know who you are. 💚

Sara Nowell Art has been on a whirlwind journey bringing so many great artists to Scarborough Art Gallery & working with her artists on the fellowship. You can find one of our favourites James Brunt Artist at the gallery till 1st September. We will be bringing you some great adventures as we show him some of the east coast’s secret locations, as he relocates to the north. It’s great to be able to meet new friends who have the same passions for nature. ☯️

Saturday at Woodend saw Sara open her studio and welcome visitors in to tell them about her work, our projects and plans for the workshops we are currently working on creating. S.P.A.C.E is going to put Scarborough on the map as a destination for creatives worldwide to come and visit & get involved, all will be revealed in due course. 🌱 🖼️

So many of you have shown love for Stepney Hill Eco Project and have visits booked in and new volunteers coming to enjoy some nature bathing. We haven’t even got started yet…for now we have some important work to do behind the scenes and a little time to recoup. It’s volunteer Saturday this week 9-12:30pm…see you in the garden. 🌻

Today is Summer on the Crescent and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all 🍄 Sara Nowell Art 🖼️

Photos from Lost The Plot 's post 19/07/2024

Today we open a collaboration at The Sunshine Gallery at Scarborough Arts Quarter. 11 - 12:30pm 🌞

Sara Nowell Art has a selection of her screen prints on display, her infamous digitally printed Riga jacket that was showcased earlier in the year at Scarborough Museums and Galleries Art Gallery. 🖼️

We’ve installed a small selection of our own plants & mushrooms to bring the art & nature collab we’re so passionate about expressing. You’ll be able to hear about all the projects we’re working on and how you can get involved in our new S.P.A.C.E project. If you like art, printing & being immersed in nature…this one is right up your street. 🌱☮️🍄☯️🌻

Don’t forget the sunshine gallery won’t be open again till Sunday 11-4pm as we are opening Sara’s studio at Woodend for Summer on the Crescent. 10-4pm 🌺

We look forward to welcoming you all. 🌅

Here’s a video of Sandybed Heights and how our allotment looks today. We’re nowhere near as lush as last year, definitely not had the sun 🌞

Still though we have a lot to enjoy there’s plenty of organic produce. Our polytunnel is abundant and we have enough onions to supply the town 😁 they’ll come in handy for lots of cooking up at the farm. Stepney Hill Eco Project 🌻

Coffee machine is in and we’ve got a beautiful vintage Whistler coffee system from our friends at The Vintage Window along with a lot of our Hornsea pottery collections which we can’t wait to unpack and use. ☕️

Make sure you visit the Crescent this weekend, studios are opening and there’s lots of stalls set around the crescent gardens. We look forward to meeting you all. Scarborough Museums and Galleries🌻☯️🌞🖼️🌱🍄

A few days away from the garden and it’s in full bloom, the sunflowers are taking centre stage as always. We’re harvesting so much of the organic goodness 🌱

Our favourite plot friends have been providing us with the good 💩 we have a nice big bay of compost ready to lay. New bays are filling up and we will have a good amount to add to the beds in spring next year. 🌻

Nothing beats the journey from planting a seed to enjoying a bountiful harvest. We may of had a slow start to the season but the garden keeps on giving and we are enjoying feasting on our organic produce. 🌱

Hope everyone is starting to reap the rewards of their hard work. We’ve tried melons this year so we will see how they come along…we need more sunshine 🌞

Scarborough BOGS The Scarborough Fair 🍄

You have one more day today to head down to the Arts Quarter to see the Art installation at Scarborough BOGS. We visited Jacqui Barrowcliffe yesterday and were really impressed with her work. Jacqui has a studio within Old Parcels Office Artspace aside our train station. We had a visit there too and have another video coming shortly. Enjoy the video and please do have a wander down and take a look. 👁️ There’s more art to view in the Shakespeare Pub, you can’t have a pint or p*e though…so please take note 🖼️ Enjoy! We’ve reached 1K followers so we thought we’d show you around the allotment. More videos to follow. You can hang out with us now & then if you follow us on TikTok as we start to go live more frequently. 🍄

Photos from Lost The Plot 's post 05/07/2024

Yesterday we spent the late afternoon tending to the allotment and going Live on TikTok. Viewers got the opportunity to see a new tour of the garden and what we have been up to. The polytunnel is looking lush. We have some lovely black peppers coming on, unusual things are what we like to grow. 🌱

Close by to the site we have spoken with a land owner who has some more allotments which are privately run. Hearing how short the waiting list is we managed to explain some ideas and have now been added so that area will become an important part of future plans. 🍄

We have also made contact with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to discuss some ideas about how Stepney Hill Eco Project and all the schools, colleges, organisations and individuals who attend can get involved with the nature reserve. Harland mount is situated right between the allotments and farm. We are meeting on site with Peter soon so we will update you as that develops. This will be a big step forward. ♾️

One of the committee expressed how beautiful our pond is and that they are looking to establish one over winter. We offered to give them some of the bits from ours as we frequently maintain it and if it can be used elsewhere it’s better for the fellow gardeners to use. 🌻

The last two pics show the plot Rowey has been working away on, looking good and very lush green. We will give you a tour shortly. There’s some videos to follow of Sandybed Heights. 👁️

We’re now heading down to Scarborough Museums and Galleries to attend the preview of James Brunt Artists Coastal Ecologies. Make sure you get the chance to visit the installation it’s going to be a good one.

Wholesome weekend. We headed out for a wander to Scarborough Museums and Galleries to see Martha in the community hub hosting a workshop on Seaweed. It’s part of Culture Declares Emergency ‘Assemble’ and there will be a lot of interesting things for people to get involved with. Check the link below :

After getting distracted by the colour pops that nature keeps throwing our way we finally managed to drop into the The Scarborough Fair at the new Arts Quarter in St Helens Square. Sara Nowell Art had the opportunity to get to speak to Lydia Hann and chat about her installation. Really enjoyed meeting you and we hope you have a fantastic time in the shetlands. Lydia is heading up to spend a month in Ronaldsay to see the seaweed eating sheep 🐑 how cool. Enjoy ☮️

If you haven’t already been to the new Arts Quarter then keep an eye out as the installations change and there is a huge selection of cool creatives showing their work. 🍄

Compost has been sieved and our grow beds have started to be prepared ready for spring. Next up we will start to sow seeds indoors over the next couple of months then bring everything to the polytunnels. Excited for this season to get going 🌱🌻☮️

Big bed preparation is in full swing at Stepney Hill Eco Project 🌻

We’re now starting to layer up growing beds on our community garden project at Stepney Hill Farm. The leaves we’ve had delivered are serving us well and heating up. We will make some bays of leaf mulch so next year we have some of natures gold to add to our garden. 🌱
