🎉 Celebrating Len Goodman’s Legacy in Dartford! 🎉

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that we have commissioned the talented artist Adrian Riley to create a new public artwork in Dartford, honouring the life and contributions of Len Goodman, the beloved dance teacher and "Strictly Come Dancing" judge. Adrian, known for his imaginative and engaging public art, is working closely with Len’s family to capture his unique wit and charm.

This tribute, which will be located outside the Goodman Dance Academy, where Len taught for over 50 years, will be a playful and interactive piece. Expect to see some of Len’s famous catchphrases, like ‘Pickle my walnuts’ and ‘Seven!’, brought to life in Dartford’s town centre.

This project is a key part of Dartford Borough Council's broader regeneration efforts, adding vibrancy and character to the public realm.

Check out our Signs of the Times while you are out and about this Christmas.

All the signs came about through conversations between artist Adrian Riley and local residents. It’s amazing how the same themes often crop up with different groups in different places, and one of those themes was stories triggered by taking in a deep breath. Some are childhood memories full of delicious smells, and some are of arriving in Scarborough for the first time. Some are journeys from far away, and some are from just around the corner.

You can hear snippets from many of them on the accompanying soundtrack via a QR code as you look at the illuminated sign. There are also two explanation panels on the neighbouring windows, and be sure to follow the bus route maps on the glass of different journeys. You can find this Sign of the Times at the rear of the Brunswick Centre by the bus stops on York Place. It’s illuminated until 10pm each day.
