Fitting Ovia Lighting Omni LED downlights in place of an old fluorescent batten fitting. The kitchen is due for complete refurbishment in a couple of weeks, however the existing fitting failed so we got in early to get some light back for the customer.
🧲 - A 'Stud Buddy' magnet picks up screw heads used to fix the plasterboard to the joists. This gives an approximate location to avoid hitting them when cutting with a hole saw
🏠 - Always check which way the roof pitches. This will give you an idea of which way the joists run (the ones in the emoji will go left to right) and again helps you avoid them
🟢 - Couldn't find an emoji for a laser but they are a must when fitting downlights. Mine is an Huepar and it's awesome. Measure a point of reference off each wall and fire the laser between the two then go down the line and mark your light positions.

Consumer unit change completed for a lovely client. Two old units removed and replaced with an SPD, RCBO unit with spare ways for future expansion. Unit brought off the wall and mounted on fire retardant board and cables contained in trunking as best as possible. It's not always easy making existing installs look pretty in the real world but I was reasonably happy with how this turned out

Out Of Office - Apologies, I’ve had a few messages saying people have been trying to call. I’m without phone reception, only WiFi (WhatsApp/email) this week. If you need to get in touch please use either of these platforms and I’ll respond on my return.

Recent rewire completed while the clients still lived in the property. Boards, carpets, and furniture all retuned to original positions at the end of the day to ensure disturbance was kept to a minimum. Also used M Class extraction so harmful dust particles aren’t airbourne in a ‘lived in’ environment. New lights and sockets were added alongside previous accessories to ensure clients weren’t without power with everything switched over on completion.

Busy. Busy. Busy!! We’ve run over 1000m of cable since August and that’s only going to continue in the coming weeks! All this around the birth of my beautiful baby daughter as well! We thrive on building projects and have some very exciting ones starting soon along with all these to second fix. Will try and remember to take photos of the pretty bits!

Out of office!!!
We’re taking a well earned break and won’t be returning to work until week beginning 12th June. There’s a very busy 2nd half of 2023 coming up, not just with work but also becoming a father for the first time! I’ll do my best to answer any emails and messages while I’m away, however, will ensure all are responded to as soon as possible when I return.
Thanks for your understanding.
All the best,
Andy

Been another super busy period for me, however, still rubbish at remembering to take photos!! Here are just a few of the many, many jobs I’ve done recently

Recent double stack consumer unit upgrade for a client. The old single RCD unit didn’t do the beautiful property justice, however this SPD/RCBO unit offers selectivity over circuits and also feeds a sub board fitted in the garage. Took a while but happy with the result.

Stunning kitchen extension completed for a great couple and their doggos! I love the colour of the units as well as the use of the bench built in to the island, was an absolute pleasure to work on this one. See if you can spot Bella the Vizsla in the last photo!

Full rewire recently completed at this fantastic refurbishment undertaken by on the island of Portland.
The property was previously a commercial unit with flats upstairs but has now been completely renovated to a stunning 3 storey town house. The exposed brick and Portland stone looks incredible and is a really nice touch. The property will be available to rent soon on Air BnB so keep your eyes peeled!

Before and after from a large downstairs extension for G Keith Builders. 3 rooms were knocked into one and a large full width extension added to make this fantastic space. Smart sockets and switches were added as per the client specification as well as 3 electric Velux windows. This was a great project to be part of, working with some great people.

Beautiful, contemporary kitchen extension completed for a lovely family. What was a small, ‘standard’ kitchen has been turned into this fantastic space that is equally at home feeding the family or hosting gatherings and parties. Hopefully some nice weather coming this weekend too to get the bi-folds open!

First fix completed for a rewire in Dorset last week. This 150 year old, 3 storey property has been purchased by good clients of mine who asked if I was interested in a trip away to complete the work. It’s a big project but one I’m delighted to be involved with. 4 days to complete and 60,000 steps up and down stairs/ladders! Roll on second fix.

EV charger install completed for a client in Seaford. The CU and garage are located on opposite sides of the property which meant a lengthy cable run, however completed with no issues. Feel free to get in touch if you’re considering joining the huge number of people investing in an EV for cheaper fuel and as part of a greener lifestyle.

Consumer unit ‘glow up’ completed today. New Fusebox unit fitted complete with SPD and type A RCBOs with three spare ways that allows for future addition of circuits, if required. Main and bonding CPCs tagged and cable entry fire sealed all adds up to a nice neat finish.

Garden cabin power install today for a client. SWA cable run out to the cabin in a trench, then a layer of sharp sand to protect it, 1/3 of the soil back in, warning tape added then back fill the rest of the soil. Garage CU was already populated with 2 MCBs so added a double pole switch to isolate the cabin separately if needed. Huge thank you to Paul Sleigh who was incredible and dug the trench, back filled it and relayed the turf for me. Great team effort 👍🏼

Consumer unit upgrade from today. Replaced the original, rewireable, fuse board, retrofit RCD and DB2 for the shower with an RCBO consumer unit fitted with SPD. Old cables are always difficult to get neat and tidy compared with new builds or rewires, however, the owner of this property now has a safe consumer unit with additional space to add a garage circuit and a separate circuit for audio/visual equipment in future.

Some bathroom niche lighting that went in today as it nears completion. Looks class and, if you’re having a new bathroom, I think is a must have that brings a great ambience to the room.
