Preservations…
A big part of Scentiment & why I started is based on the idea of nostalgia and the ability flowers have to create special memories.
We often gift flowers to commemorate a life event and by doing so we add sentimental value to the smells, colours and types of flowers we give & receive.
I have spent years pressing various ‘important’ blooms between the pages of a book and thought it right to channel this into my work. This, along side an education in art gives me great confidence in creating bespoke works of art for you to keep for years to come.
From tiny individual flowers, to entire bridal bouquets. Flowers from a first date, a bespoke abstract frame full of flowers from a loved one’s funeral tribute, a single stem your child has picked for you that you just want to keep. No matter how big or small, we can talk through your ideas together and come up with the perfect way to preserve your flowers that is right for you.

This first year, has been all about learning and growing and working out what and who I am.
I’ve got a super exciting plan for the year ahead and it’s going to be BIG.

In light of the first ever UK National Florist Day, which we will celebrate this Saturday, 8th June. I thought I would take the opportunity to show you the person behind the flowers, and give a little insight to my journey on how I became a florist, or as the industry have coined the term ‘flower magician’…

So, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jade.
I am pretty early into my floristry business journey, as I set up Scentiment in November 23’ upon qualifying from The Sussex Flower School where the incredible Georgia taught and inspired me in everything flowers but also everything business!

After a very long career in the hospitality & catering world, I took a leap away into something I could be a lot more passionate about. I had studied art & photography during school, college, and then onto Brighton uni when I moved away from my hometown in Essex to come down to the sunny South coast of England.
Over a decade later & I’m still very much in love with the South East and have set up home, family & now business here.
I’ve always been creative and felt I wasn’t using that side of myself to my full potential. So, after a long (double back to back!) maternity break from the work world I decided it was time to get back to my creative side. With this, and a love of receiving flowers & holding on to the most sentimental ones by pressing them between pages of a big heavy book with kitchen roll - Scentiment was born.
The idea that flowers evoke feelings & create memories through the senses is a huge part of Scentiment’s ethos. want my flowers to say something to the person they are for.
I use both fresh & dried flowers in my work. I also press & preserve blooms for clients and turn them into bespoke works of art to be cherished for years to come.

Whilst still spending much of my time as a stay at home mum to my two very small pre-school children, caring for my wonderful bonus child & running our home, with my chef/businessman partner by my side, I am very much in the early days of ‘setting up shop’ working as much as I can from my wonderful home studio in Seaford, East Sussex.
I am absolutely delighted & grateful that you are here to come along for the crazy ride. There’s much planned for the year ahead including the hunt for the perfect location to literally set up shop! 😉 🤍

Including some of our home grown Linaria & Alliums too - As the weather warms up and more of our gorgeous plants start to flower, I’ll be able to use lots of local home grown blooms in my creations 🙌

& they smell as beautiful as they look!
- Just one of the wonderful varieties of flower in my delivery this morning. These Stocks always smell incredible and come in a variety of colours so they are a firm favourite in my bouquets 💐
