The dinosaurs have moved into the preschool garden.... we thought we could hear the stamping of feet 🦕 👣
The children have loved exploring this wonderful area, it's created lots of discussion, developing their imaginative skills, extending on ideas from story books 📚, counting and sequencing the dinosdaurs, discussing differences and similarities, ordering by shape and size .... the learning opportunities have been endless.
We hope everyone enjoyed the fathers day stay and play session today ... thank you to everyone who attended. Lots of fun activities and yummy food 😋
🦋 We have eyes!!! We will keep you posted on our butterfly progress over half term 🦋
Continuing with our theme of emotions and self regulation, we have been using the talking stick ✨ at Preschool this last two weeks.
This gives the children an opportunity to speak freely uninterrupted while the ladies and friends listen.
🪴 We usually start by discussing how we are feeling 😁☹️😡 and what colour we feel, then we talk about something of interest, maybe a holiday, our favourite foods or our favourite game.
✨ The rules of the circle are if you have the stick you can talk, if you don’t we have to use listening ears.
🪴We have been so busy in our Garden Planting area at Preschool! The children have loved caring and watching their plants grow! 🍓
We are so excited for the fruits and vegetables to grow! 🍅
This week at Preschool we have focused on the book The Colour Monster - this beautiful story 📖helped the children visualise 👀 through colours 🌈 how they are feeling.
We have encouraged the children to tell us what colour 🌈 they are feeling and then used words to vocalise these feelings.
✨ It’s okay to feel these emotions, it’s how we deal with them that makes us the people we are.
The ladies have been very busy at preschool! We have a brand new construction area 🔨🔧. We are so excited to build, dig, learn and explore in this new area!
Why is Constructive Play so important for our children? 🪨🪵🔧
Constructive play helps our children make sense of the world, developing their problem solving and social skills. Through this form of play Children learn to manipulate materials to achieve a desired outcome 👷♀️👷♂️
A big Thankyou to Classroom Clothing who donated some new helmets, high vis jackets and cones to our area ❤️
🦋 Our Butterfly Journey 🦋
The children were introduced to our new exciting visitors at preschool on Friday.... we love the process of caring and watching the caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies , we do this every year and each year is so special and a great learning opportunity 🦋
Its an unforgettable opportunity to watch caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies.
The entire transformation from caterpillar to adult butterfly takes about three to five weeks... the children are really excited by the whole process and we can't wait to learn more about life cycles.
This week our story of the week was the Tiger who Came for Tea 🐅☕️
On Tuesday we celebrated St George’s Day 🏴.
The Cliffe Preschool Hospital 🏥 officially opened, all patients have been made very welcome and are back to full health with some interesting one of a kind treatments🙈😂
This week we have been doing lots of exploration 👀within our play feeling different textures, mixing colours, using flowers 🌻 to create pictures, planting and investigating roots and soil!
✨ We know that our children need these play experiences to enrich their learning, as Einstein said, Play is the Highest form of Research 💡
What a fabulous week we have had at preschool!
🏡This week our book if the week was the Three Little Pigs 🐷 - We read the story and helped the ladies with the words. We built houses for the little pigs using the materials the pigs used, straw, sticks and bricks. The children are very good at telling us the different parts of a book.
🔴 We practiced making our own patterns, developing our fine manipulative skills and pincer grasps.
⚖️ We’ve done lots of maths activities this week, we did weighing, making the scales heavier and lighter.
▪️🔺🔸We used different shapes to make pictures, this is a good activity which encourages the children to talk about different shapes.

This week we have become mini Picasso’s 🎨🖌️and painted some beautiful daffodils 🌼 for our brand new art wall!
This week was Word Book Day 📖 we loved building the little pigs 🐷 houses and exploring under the sea 🐠 we love using our imaginations to help our learning through play!
What a fab week 🤩

It’s beginning to looo a lot like Christmas 🎄 Christmas is arriving at Preschool!
Lest we Forget.
At preschool we all worked together to make a Poppy Wreath. We spoke about how Poppies help us remember.
This week we have focused on our fine motor skills.
Fine Motor Skills refers to the coordination between the small muscles, like those in the hands 👋🏼wrists, and fingers ☝️in coordination with their eyes 👀.
We drew fireworks 🎆 with our fingers ☝️in the tuff tray, we used our hands 🖐️ and different types of grasps to pick stones 🪨up and fill the shapes, this also helps us develop an understanding of empty and full.
We used the beads and threads, this is great for helping our brain learning to carefully place the beads on the string.
We practiced our cutting skills ✂️using the scissors, this helps our hand eye coordination and our finger muscles.
So much fun and so much learning! See you next week xx ❤️
🥳...ACCREDITED SETTING...🥳
Preschool attended training in the summer around the healthy early years award programme, that North Yorkshire deliver to early years settings. The award enables Early Years settings to share their effective practice in supporting a whole setting approach to health and wellbeing by working through the criteria for each of the key themes.
We completed our first theme at the beginning of the term and submitted our evidence and action plan for the bronze award toward a 'Healthy Early Years Setting', focusing on healthy food.
We are so pleased to say that they were happy with the support and learning the children recieve at preschool around healthy food and that they have award us the accreditation for bronze 🥳
We are so incredibly proud of the setting and our outstanding practice we provide. The support and dedication of all those at preschool, makes preschool the amazing setting it is. We are always striving for excellence and continously reflecting on our practice and how we can continue to grow and develop, ensuring the best for the children in our care.
Next step silver and gold ✨️
Happy Halloween 👻🎃

We’ve made witches 🧙♀️potions using herbs 🌿from our garden, we practiced our pouring skills!
