While researching blackletter typefaces, I discovered Jake Rainis, a Calligraphy Artist from Boston. on their website they showcase their work that spans brand identity and calligraffiti pieces. They also showcase other interesting calligraphy artists and write articles on the history and styles of blackletter with guides on how to create in the resources page at https://jakerainis.com/blog/
A fantastic resources from designers, I love it when I see big international bands advertised in a way that evokes local 'flyer' posters, it's a departure from the mainstream, but each designer seems to evoke the nature of the band because they 'get it'...

I thought I'd seen this logo everywhere...turns out it wasn't widespread until 90's! (Mandela effect? A re-boot of the Matrix?)

The bizarre story behind The Beatles logo The design's road to fame was long (and winding).
Growing up in the 70's, logos fascinated me and I was always copying them, drawn to their simplicity of style and complexity of meaning. These all look dated now, but perhaps it's time for a comeback for the 'chunky American corporate' style?
"Favre’s use of color plays a big role in what she achieves with light and shadow. Early in her career, her work was likened to optical art for her oft-used repeating patterns that generate optical illusions. Colors were added to make the images pop. Today, she studies how colors work together to represent perspective."

So, having looked at the 'published guidance' (the TFL advertising policy, available on-line)...I think the advertiser could successfully demonstrate that the "advertisement is not promoting HFSS products". It is an advert for a play, not cake.
West End play poster banned by TfL over 'unhealthy' cake Transport for London said the poster promoted "foods high in fat, salt and sugar".
A two part interview with graphic designer Clint Schultz, who has worked on movies such as Top Gun: Maverick, the Mission Impossible series and others. A great insight into the movie making process and the design for context process. I particularly liked hearing him describe showing bad ideas to studio execs, allowing him to develop different ones. Gently lead the client into what you think they need, not what they think they need!

Where does graphic design become graphic art? I like patterns and pleasing shapes but I do become a bit confused as to how images can represent a business or concept in advertising.
Wolfgang Bäumer, Singular Graphic Composition, the advertisements of the Klöckner-Werke AG - Design Reviewed Bäumer gave the company a unique brand image amplifying its graphical image after a time of post-war economic recovery. This style of advertising composition can be seen across many 1960s campaigns, especially from other German designers such as Anton Stankowski.
I grew up in the 80's when lurid video covers promised thrills and scares undreamed of by a young boy. These re-imaginings of later films in the video box cover style are spot on.

Behold, the dreadful new Twitter Blue logo It's almost as chaotic as Twitter itself.
I don't like the colour green, and I don't like serif fonts, but as a designer I have to accept they exist and might be appropriate for a design.https://the-brandidentity.com/resource/serifs-styles-scotch-romans-8-versatile-serif-type-families-that-are-both-pretty-and-practical?fbclid=IwAR3UxtFhNy1WPG4DbnLTE1Id8PKGiKJAjypiLqfaBp8RVGcJnbBhS8wBcRI
The Brand Identity Despite somewhat of a resurgence in the 2020s, serif typefaces still find themselves regularly playing second fiddle in identity systems to their sans serif counterparts; which are often deemed friendlier and more versatile. This doesn’t always have to be the case, however, with more and more cont...
A great example of brand awareness - colours and curves, I knew what this was as soon as I saw it.

Okay, so this is a ca. 1750 remix of blackletter, New Model Army and death metal logos. All apparently done by quill, in candlelight, by a skeleton wearing a hooded robe.
