Another one of my latest hand cut floor art pieces.

This one has been donated to The Flooring Academy @ CP Assessments Ltd in Doncaster. TFA & CP are one of the countries leading flooring industry training facilities, providing excellent training to young apprentices and experienced installer’s like myself. I have trained with them in the past and also currently sitting my LVT Master Installer test with them, so it’s great to give something back.
Archimedes will go on display in their training centre and hopefully encourage young installer’s into pushing the boundaries in LVT design and installation.

Contrary to popular belief, you’ll be surprised to know we don’t only fit herringbone floors 🤭

Occasionally we have the pleasure of fitting a stunning floor like this Harvey Maria Fumed English Oak. This contemporary marble topped kitchen cried out for a 45° central field framed by a treble pinstripe and single plank border. So we set to work and created something floornominal for our customers. 🏠🤎

Lovely bit of Brampton Chase Stones Collection, Cotswold ceramic tile effect luxury vinyl tiles.
Fitted to a kitchen and downstairs shower room in a traditional brick bond pattern with 5mm beige design strips. The subfloor had existing ceramic tiles that couldn’t be removed due to the kitchen units being on top. We degreased the tiles with a high strength degreaser and then applied a generous coat of ARDEX UK’s CL smoothing compound.

45 square meters of J2flooring’s Blonde Oak herringbone fitted to this stunning island kitchen/diner. We also surprised the customer with a little hand made custom design for the step in the cloakroom.
Needless to say they absolutely loved it 😁

Heavenly Herringbone 😍

The tradition herringbone pattern is a timeless design and very fashionable at the moment.
Whether your home and decor be traditional country kitchen or modern contemporary, this beautiful floor sits perfectly and compliments all styles.

We recently had the pleasure of installing this stunning Karndean Designflooring Art Select, Prairie Oak with a single plank border and 10mm black design strip to this newly fitted island kitchen. Subfloor was ground back to remove any contaminants and prepared with F Ball and Co Ltd’s Stopgap 1200 smoothing compound.

Diner, hallway, office, utility and conservatory in J2flooring’s Bleached Oak lvt. The customer had her heart set on this colour but it wasn’t available in small block herringbone. We ordered the large plank format and set to hand cutting them down to 3”x9” small blocks. We added a few curved borders, another treble pinstripe and a hand made Celtic knot for the centre of the conservatory.

Karndean Designflooring’s Van Gough, Aged Redwood, fitted to a kitchen/diner for a family friend. As always we added a treble pinstripe and custom corners to the borders to make the floor unique for our customers.

Subfloor prepared with FG1 flooring grade plywood for a smooth and solid base.

Another stunning kitchen/diner in Luvanto Arctic Oak luxury vinyl tiles.
When the customers first contacted us they were just wanting a simple straight plank installation. After having a chat and explaining all the possibilities we managed to talk them into a single plank border complimented by a 10mm dark grey slate design strip with a 45° central field. As a little extra we also hand made them a two tone grey nautical compass for the centre of the kitchen area. Another stunning and unique floor ☑️

Eight square meters of Harvey Maria English Oak, small block herringbone lvt, fitted to an entrance hallway. The customers chose a 5mm black design strip to complement the dark natural tones of the floor and really highlight the double block border around that stunning curved bullnose step.

Ten square metres of Luvanto Natural Oak, herringbone luxury vinyl flooring fitted to this stunning hallway. The customer wanted a statement floor for the hallway of their beautiful 1930s home, so we suggested a single plank border, complimented by a treble pinstripe and then a fanned border around the large double curved bullnose step.

Subfloor prepped with Hanson Plywood Ltd’s SP101 flooring grade plywood.

Thirty square meters of Moduleo UK’s Mustang Slate luxury vinyl tiles, fitted to a large island kitchen/diner. As a little extra for the customer, we added a white treble pinstripe around the kitchen island to complement the solid marble worktop.

Subfloor was prepared with Hanson Plywood Ltd SP101 flooring grade plywood, nailed at 100mm centres and given a generous coat of ARDEX UK’s Feather Finish for a smooth and solid base for the new flooring. Flooring bonded in place with UZIN UK’s KE49HT high temperature adhesive.

Another beautiful bespoke floor fitted for Mr & Mr’s Brown of Carlton in Lindrick.

40 square meters of Polyflor Ltd’s Camaro, Wild Amber Oak luxury vinyl tiles. Fitted to a hallway, kitchen/diner, utility and downstairs toilet.
The customers wanted us to design a bespoke floor to compliment their new fitted kitchen. After showing them different design options they went for a single plank border with penny internal and external curved corners, a hand cut treble pinstripe inlay and a 45° central field.

Subfloor prepared with Hanson Plywood Ltd’s SP101 flooring grade plywood, nailed at 100mm centres.

After over fifty hours it’s finally complete.

This one has been a real labour of love, but I couldn’t be happier with the finished result.

I am also honoured and proud to have been asked to have this on display in one of the countries leading floor training centres. It will go in display and hopefully inspire young installers to push the boundaries in floor design and installation.

We love pushing the boundaries, testing our skills and coming up with more intricate designs.
This one has took approximately thirty hours so far and still isn’t fully complete.
We are also proud and honoured to have been asked by Paddy @ MN Floor Training Ltd. In Wolverhampton to have it on display in his training centre along with other pieces of floor art by fitter’s from across the country.

Design floors are so versatile, and with endless possibilities for creating eye catching and stunning designs the only limitations are our imagination.
We love pushing the boundaries in floor design and creating unique beautiful floors for our customers.
