Happy Hare
Fabric, independent patterns, notions and craft classes.
The binding will need slip stitched at home, but I think the ladies did a fab job on their first quilts!
We do still have places left on next weeks quilting class. It is suitable for beginners - you just need to be able to sew a straight line accurately :-) The sample is done as a poppy, but you're welcome to use any other colours you want.
Given the date, it's likely that we'll take a brief break in the morning to participate in the village Remembrance service, which is held very close to the workshop.
£10.00 from every place will be donated to buy fabric to make quilts for veterans.

Busy Craft Saturday
Today's sewing!
We've been having a bit of a play with Tactical Recognition Flashes, ready for our quilt making day on Sunday.
A reminder that our next making day is next Sunday (27th) from 10.00 - 16.00. It's free to attend, but please let us know if you're coming, so we can manage numbers. You don't need to be the world's best quilter; being able to sew a straight line accurately is enough. We also need help with pinning and ironing.

Day two!
Retreat!
Sewing retreat kicking off!
Just to draw your attention to a little snippet on page twelve of this month's / Royal British Legion magazine. How cute do Darren Trev Parker and Jason look with their tiny vintage tea cups?

Hi All
Just a reminder that it's our retreat next weekend, so our opening hours will be affected.
Thanks!
Too true...
Hi All
On the back of us being shortlisted for the North Sheffield Community and Volunteer Awards, we'd just like to draw your attention to the Lord Mayor's Awards to recognise contributions to Sheffield life. There is a category for "Outstanding Contribution to Local Community", which is open to groups or individuals. It looks like we can't nominate ourselves for this one, nominations have to come from people not directly involved with the group.
So, if anyone can think of someone they would like to nominate.... :-P
If you don't want to write a letter from scratch, there is a PDF form which can help by giving you some heading to start from. If you would like us to drop that over to you, just message and we can do that. We can also let you have our "who we are" document and the committee biographies. You know, if there was something you wanted to do where those things might be useful, wink wink...
As with the community awards, things like this help to raise our profile, which, makes it easier for us to get funding to make more quilts with...
We've had a fabulous weekend making the Merchant & Mills Camber Dress. Tracey was going for a Seasalt kind of look with her Liberty needlecord. We added huge patch pockets, which went round into the seams on either side. Debra went for a more vintage vibe with her Figo flowers, with in-seam pockets. Both were fully lined. Lovely job, ladies!
Today's job has been attaching the binding to this quilt we are donating to for their fundraising gala at the end of the month. They do fabulous work, so please do go and take a wee look at their page.
I am very much hoping that one of the ladies at tomorrow's social sewing session will slip stitch the back of the binding for me :-) and then we can arrange to get it collected and off to Scotty's.
Hi All
We're really excited to tell you that we have been shortlisted for the Community Project of the Year at these awards, organised by . It's such a fabulous achievement for a new project, and we hope that it will help to raise our profile.
We'll find out how we've done on 15th November - keep those fingers crossed for us and we'll let you know how we get on!
Well, it's October, so that means that Liz Brooks' raven quilt is back in its spiritual home in our workshop :-)
