Freecycle - Skipton & Craven Group

Hi Freecyclers,

Now that we are in a lockdown due to COVID-19, the Skipton & Craven Moderators want to update our advice. We have decided to keep the group active but with the following advice/guidance:

As a Freecycle member, you are responsible for your own behaviour, and it is essential that you all continue to practice the "Hands, Face, Space" rules when either collecting items or passing them on to new owners.

We would ask that you do not offer items that you would consider 'non-essential' - until the end of lockdown, when we can (hopefully) return to a more normal state of affairs.

If you are going to collect an offered item, please be prepared to explain to any person enforcing the prohibition on non-essential travel, why your journey to pick up the item is essential.

Maintain social distancing, wear face coverings, wash hands and where possible disinfect items or leave untouched for 72 hours.

Stay safe while you continue to keep stuff out of landfill.

A quick round-up of the first week of operation for this new Freecycle Skipton & Craven page:

First of all - welcome to everyone who has opted to Follow this page. Many of you will already be regular users of the Skipton & Craven Freecycle site proper. For those who are not, then I encourage you to sign up to be a member (It's completely free!). Once a member, you can add adverts ("posts") offering things you want to find a new home for, or things you want - and are sure somewhere, someone has exactly what you need, and doesn't need it any more.

The great thing about Freecycle is that's all the items are offered for free - 100%. You will never have to pay for anything offered on Freecycle.

This week, for example, we have seen people offering to give away the following:
Dressing table, sun lounger, car roof rack bars, single bed, fish tank & accessories,printer, rug, picture frames, kitchen chairs, IKEA cupboard and mattress.

We've also seen 'Wanted' posts for:
Mobile phone, weight training equipment and Reader's Digest books.

So - if you want to find a new home for something, and are happy to give it away to keep it from ending up in the landfill (or if you are in need of something you think someone might be about to throw out!).... Pop on over to the Skipton & Craven Freecycle Group:
