Did you know that Perennial's roots stretch back nearly two centuries? Originally known as the Gardeners’ Benevolent Institution, our journey began in 1839, thanks to the vision of George Glenny, a florist, garden journalist, and true maverick of his time. His motivation was to ensure that gardeners, like other trades, had a benevolent fund to support them in times of need.

Established as a friendly society to provide pensions for gardeners, we've since evolved to become a lifeline for countless individuals in the sector. As we commemorate our 185th birthday, we reflect on the stories of resilience and solidarity that have shaped our journey.

While times have changed, our commitment to supporting those in need remains. From then to now, Perennial continues to be a beacon of hope for all who work with plants, trees, flowers or grass. 🌸

N A T U R A L P O N D S

Towards the back of the garden was an overgrown 70’s style rockery. The clients wanted some kind of water feature as they wanted to hear the sound of moving water.

Until the old rockery was cleared it was difficult to see what was under all the existing foliage. This kind of project was what we call a ‘Design As You Go’.

All the stone in the new rockery pond was existing on site and we utilised the existing levels to create the tiers in the water feature.

Overall, both the clients and ourselves were extremely happy with the final result. 💚🏡🌱💧🪨

O U T D O O R L I V I N G

Designing a contemporary garden but still being sympathetic towards the rustic traditional farmhouse, our clients wanted a space which becomes an extension of their home, a space to entertain and relax.

Designing a bespoke stone gas fire as a main feature and focal point from their living room was a key component within the design. This was incredibly fun for our skilled team to build too.

Installing a pergola from along with their porcelain which creates a contemporary feel but has a natural stone effect housed their outdoor entertaining space.

Hosting gatherings and being able to have an outdoor kitchen was really key for our clients, so we used which can withstand our UK weather all year round and looks amazing within this contemporary setting.

Having the ability to not just design your garden but to execute the build to the highest standard gives you peace of mind that you are going to get a seamless service throughout the project.

G A T H E R I N G S

In collaboration with we have worked on creating a journey from the orangery to the beautifully design garden room.

Utilising water as a way of connecting and unifying the contemporary garden room with the rustic country house.

A soft and well thought out planting scheme will soften the landscape and allow seasonal interest whilst being manageable for the clients allowing their time to be enjoying the space.

Can’t wait to see this project come to life.
