Mid Century is returning to a special place in the eyes of designers & buyers alike. The style is much loved by younger generations and the rise of minimalist styles such as japandi and warm minimalism, these properties are the perfect back drop for them. Mid Century was probably the last time mass development was done with high end materials. Often only remembered for their use of concrete but actually their designs were most commonly finished with high end materials such as marble, onyx and woods such as teak and walnut. Finishing in the 1970’s the legal size for a bedroom was much bigger than it is today and therefore these properties are also popular amongst families for space for children. My personal affection for these is very strong and it was also the period my grandfather was most active in the area as an architect.
👀 I am on the look out for mid century properties in the area that are untouched or with minimal modernisations to fulfill the desires of buyers wanting to recreate these spaces.
This is something I have personally done and can’t recommend it enough when people have asked me as a designer on these properties to lean into the simplicity of the period they were designed for.
📍 SOLIHULL RESIDENTS: if you have a mid century property for sale, or want to sell that you want to see the designers approach to marketing on to get the best price, please get in touch. THIS is how a mid century property should be advertised.

Great news for Solihull residents 🙌
Hospital is set to employ 225 new members of staff to help treat more than 11,500 extra patients a year.
The major recruitment campaign, the biggest in its recent history, will attract a range of healthcare professionals to work in a brand new surgical elective hub which opens this Summer.
The roles on offer include nurses, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiologists, and surgeons.
Following a successful bid for part of a £1.5 billion fund, Solihull Hospital was awarded £45m last year to build a new facility, including six new operating theatres, to enable an additional 11,500 procedures a year for local patients.
Construction of the hub is well underway, and due to be operational by July 2024.
The recruitment phase has now been launched to attract 225 local, regional, and national new candidates who will work in the hub and wider hospital site.
This recruitment drive comes as the hospital commits to improving waiting times for patients and further reduce the number of delayed treatments for cancer, urology, and orthopaedics.
Executive Director for Solihull Hospital, Martin Richardson said: “We are thrilled that we have received this investment which will support us to treat those patients who have waited too long as a result of COVID-19, as well as be ready for future demands. This new hub will vastly expand our capacity to treat local patients who are waiting for their procedures and create an environment for surgical innovation in Solihull.
“We have already made great progress in tackling the longest waiting lists, but we need to do more, and we will soon have the facilities to make that a reality.”
Director of Nursing for Solihull Hospital, Fiona Wyton said: “The investment and developments at Solihull Hospital are incredibly exciting and are going to firmly put it back on the map as a vital local hospital delivering much needed care and treatment for local people.
“I would like to personally encourage anyone who is interested in joining our teams, for any of the roles, to get in touch at this pivotal time.”
Director of Operations for Solihull Hospital, Andrew Clements said: “This state-of-the-art new building not only brings new capacity for treatments, but also gives a fantastic opportunity for clinicians and support staff looking for a new challenge.
“This development signals a new chapter for Solihull Hospital and is just the beginning for improvements we are planning.
“We have recently opened our ‘People Centre’ – Connected @ Solihull so anyone interested can book an appointment to learn more about our job and career opportunities. Please contact [email protected] to arrange a meeting and tour.”
I’m coming in heavy on today’s post and for good reason. There are over 400 properties in Solihull that have been on the market for over 12 weeks. The new year has brought a fresh wave of buyers and movement. If your property is one of these that hasn’t sold, I’m the person to reach out for a fresh set of quality over quantity eyes to give your property a market health check. I’ve sold everything I have listed. 85% of my properties have sold for over asking price and 100% of what I have sold in 2024 has gone for over asking.
It’s one year today since my surgery to remove my breast reconstruction & live life as a flatty!! Honestly, it was not the most traumatic thing that happened in those 24hours & life taught me a lesson in treasure the moments. Many will know about my cousin’s loss that night & I don’t feel like it’s my story to tell but life changed drastically & it had nothing at all to do with my breasts.
A year on, I feel like it’s just my normal to be flat. I don’t think anyone meets me & their train of thought is “why has that lady got no boobs”. I’ve travelled & faced fears of sitting in a bikini on holiday. I just don’t care.
It’s a stark stark difference from how I felt when I went from my natural breasts > double mastectomy > reconstruction. Then I felt like I was losing my femininity & really so very low.
The physical surgery was much harder to recover from than I expected this time so I feel every achievement I made this last year is massive.
You may have noticed a step change in my energy this year… Good… You should! I have nothing holding me back, I’ve made peace with my circumstances & shaken imposter syndrome.
In Oscar style I would like to make some thank you’s:
the husband that always supports me & makes me feel like I am a star in his eyes!
My daughter for always showing me that everything I do impacts her view of the world & to be sure I’m making a good impression of how she should see herself!
for being patient and empathetic when I said I needed time to get back to 100%, it wasn’t a linear journey and I’m grateful for you just having my back! On our first conversation ever I told Adam this surgery was on the cards & it happened 10 months earlier that expected but 2 years after I was referred for it. He didn’t even flinch & just saw me as a great agent to partner with!
Good Morning. I just wanted to offer a polite notice that if you have a booking this weekend at please be on time as we are fully booked for viewings. It might be worth bringing some shoes/ boots that you would be ok getting a bit muddy if you want to walk the full length of the garden given the rain we have had and continue to have.
Everyone will have the same time opportunity 💗
I look forward to meeting you 😃

Need a Double Garage? This house in Balsall Common had planning permission for a double garage that doesn’t impact the boundary line of the house. When doing the drive the current homeowners pulled the electrics & water through so that adding services would be seamless!
I’m really hoping the Solihull community can help me in a really passionate project I have set myself of finding some examples of my grandfathers work. His name was Alan King & he was the founding chairman of . He worked most of his career at Hasker & Hall in Knowle which later became but doesn’t appear to be active since 2020. I spoke to my dad & it would be so lovely to find some of his work still in tact. His style was very of the Mid Century Modern movement that was happening at the time & definitely a key element for my love of the architecture of this period. If you have any knowledge of your home or property being designed by Hasker & Hall or Alan King then PLEASE do get in touch.
