That wet rain 😜

Today we headed to Ellesmere in Shropshire / North Wales to cater at the Sausage and Cider Festival. Soaked was an understatement but we kept smiling and did our best to raise spirits

The conditions were challenging to say the least but as ever we showed up and did our thing and managed to bring the African sunshine vibes with our dishes and we’re grateful for the orders we received

The drive was a deluge, but it was nice to take the M54 and head toward North Wales, bringing our flavours to this scenic and picturesque part of the world 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👌

Special shout out to the organisers and reps from Ellesmere Cricket Ground who were so welcoming and supportive throughout the day! It was a washout, but everyone did their best to keep the show moving which is the mindset which we value and respect!

Already back in the kitchen preparing to cook first thing in the morning. We said it once and we’ll say it again, the rain won’t stop this train.

Extremely delighted to inform that, as of today, veafy meals can now be found at Currant Affairs in Leicester! 🌻

We’ve built a strong relationship with Sam over the past year after being involved with West Bridgford Vegan Market, and when she told me she was opening her very own bricks and mortar 100% vegan store and desired to stock our meals I was blown away

Obtaining retail listings selling frozen food is far from straightforward, so this is a big opportunity for the brand and will hopefully pave the way for more in the future. We are grateful for this opportunity and we will do everything to not only promote our brand but most importantly Currant Affairs as a store

It‘a fantastic to be able to be involved with this project, and it’s a demonstration of how business success is underpinned by collaboration, strong relationships and acts of service

Really looking forward to joining Sam on the road bringing veafy® to more locations across the Midlands, including West Bridgford, as part of her Rainbow Monkey Events market circuit

A lovely afternoon today being a part of the soft launch opening of Currant Affairs — Leicester’s first 100% vegan shop!

We brought plenty of samples for the people and I enjoyed discussing the purpose-driven message of our brand, and our intention to introduce African inspired flavours to a wider audience with our innovative selection of plant-based dishes

The city centre was unusually quiet today, as many avoiding for obvious reasons, but it was brilliant to help my good friend Sam with the launch of her fab shop and to help counter the bad by bringing something good to Leicester, my home town

Finally, it’s with great pleasure that we’re able to announce that veafy ready meals will be stocked in this shop and will be available to purchase from here before the end of the month

This will be our very first retail listing and hopefully the first of many

When you’re next in Leicester city centre, roll though and say hello to Sam who runs the shop and her lovely team, and check out some of the fantastic planet friendly products they have in store

Real progress is being made but there’s still much to do. This is only the beginning.

Tomorrow will be what we are calling a "soft launch" which basically means that it's still pretty much chaos here! BUT we have two pop up stalls outside with free samples - Bear and Bee Sweet Company and veafy - we hope that you love their products because we will be stocking them soon!

We also have FILL refills in store and lots of goodies you won't have seen before (probably!).

Please bare with us whilst we get things running here, we are all still working hard late into the night to have a functional kitchen and a lovely shop!

Remember we are dog friendly, fully accessible and everyone is very welcome.

We also have some goodie bags with fantastic treats to give away!

It was a pleasure to attend the University of Birmingham’s “AFRICANIZE” poetry workshop and collaborative research exercise at the Exchange building earlier this week

The event enabled attendees to connect with pan-African history using 20th century artifacts and art pieces from Ghana, Nigeria and the west coast of Africa

We were encouraged to use these items as inspiration to create poetry as a response to factual and our collective interpretations of what they represented

With continental Africa being a core focus of our practice with veafy it was great to attend an event which is focusing on exploring the continent by progressive means

This follows a highly competitive application process which involved over 400 applicants for 86 places for the current cohort which we joined today
