Week 5 - Oil Pastels - King Charles Caricature
To celebrate the first year of King Charles's reign, the students used the art of exaggeration to draw charming caricatures of him. Very regal work everyone!
Week 4 - Oil pastels - Jellyfish
Using a palette of rich colours, our students produced these fantastic pictures of jellyfish swimming in the ocean.
Week 3 - Drawing - Creating characters inspired by Quentin Blake. Our returners channeled their inner storytelling to create their own whimsical characters. What fabulous work!
Figures and Faces
This week our lesson focused on teaching the new students the correct dimensions and proportions to draw figures and faces.
Week 2 - Drawing - Boardwalks
This week our returning students used their perspective skills to draw these captivating boardwalk pictures.
- Perspective work and enlarging a picture
Our new students were taught 'formal one-point perspective' methods to draw the inside of a simple room with windows, doors and furniture.
They were then shown how to enlarge a picture using the grid method to produce these fabulous horse pictures.
Week 1 - Drawing - Coconuts - Our returning students produced a "lovely bunch of coconuts" to start our summer course. Well done everyone!
Teacups - After practising ellipses, our new students drew these wonderful teacups. A great start, I'm sure you'll agree!
Weeks 11-12 - Acrylics
African violets and spring woodland sunrises.
The students used deep, rich hues of colour to paint woodland and domestic flora.
What great pictures to end the course!
Week 9-10 - Acrylics
Chocolates and impasto birds.
Our returners and new students produced these fantastic pictures showing off their artistic acrylics skills.
Week 8 - Watercolours - Cockerels
This week our students used black fine liner pens as well as watercolour paints to produce these colourful cockerel pictures.
Week 7 - Watercolours - Fashion illustration - tutti fruity hats.
Inspired by the headpieces of Carmen Miranda, all our students created these fabulous fruit-laden hats.
Week 6 - Watercolours - English Blue Cheese
Our returning students also produced monochrome paintings. The theme for this lesson was English blue cheese. Tasty pictures!
Week 6 - Watercolours - Misty Mountains
After learning all about the colour wheel, mixing paints etc., our new students produced these wonderful monochrome misty mountain pictures. A great start using a new medium!
Week 5 - Oil Pastels - Fluffy Bunnies/March Hares
Our returning and new students used their previous animal portraiture skills to draw cute fluffy bunnies and March hares.
Week 4 - Oil Pastels - Avocados
All our students produced vibrant avocado pictures using a variety of oil pastel shades.
They look delicious!
Week 3 - Drawing
Dogs holding a rose.
Our returners drew cute pictures of dogs holding a rose, using pencils and coloured pencils. They were shown how to create realistic eyes, nose and fur textures.

Portraiture and figurative drawing
Our new students drew figures and faces using very similar methods to those of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Week 2 - Drawing - Heart balloons
Our returning students used coloured pencils again to draw foil balloons, just in time for Valentine's day.

Our new students were taught how to draw a simple room using one-point perspective. They were then shown how to enlarge a picture of a horse using the grid method.

Spring Course 2024
Welcome to our new students.
Week 1 - A wonderful array of teacups drawn by our new students, using the pencil techniques learnt in class.
Weeks 9-12 - Acrylics
Square Lemons, Fox Portraits, Pop Art Soda Bottles and Ruby Slippers
Fantastic artwork!
Week 8 - Watercolours - Tarte aux pommes (apple pies).
Our students created delightful pieces, painted in the style of "journaling" giving them a charming appearance rather than a realistic one.
Week 7 - Watercolours - Our students painted tabby kittens and dogs, showing off their great watercolour skills.
Week 6 - Watercolours - Our returners have painted migrating birds at sunset. What perfect sunset backdrops and beautiful colours!
Week 6 - Watercolours - Our new students painted a simple monochrome misty mountain picture. What fantastic pieces!
Week 5 - Oil Pastels - Partridge in a pear tree.
Vibrant birds drawn with oil pastels.
The students were shown the technique of "feathering" to create these super bird pictures.
Week 4 - Oil Pastels - Figs.
Figs; drawn from still life or from visual aids by all our students. They look good enough to eat!
Week 3 - Drawing (new students).
Our students were taught how to draw faces using similar methods to those of Leonardo Da Vinci. Well done everyone!
