After months of crazy hard work, we’re over the moon to welcome the amazing Ted Thompson to The Rhubarb. Having Ted around has been a massive breath of fresh air and we’re so ready to kick back into high gear.

🥁DRUMMER NEEDED🥁

So, as many of our English fans seen when we were down south and all the folks that came to Stereo on Wednesday seen we were missing a usual face. He left the band 4 days before we were supposed to leave for tour with no intention of fulfilling the plans that we’d worked so hard on and had been in the works for nearly a year. This is unfortunately why we had to pull the Stafford and Hartlepool shows.

Luckily enough, we managed to get the mighty Richy Walsh from Ancient of Days on very short notice to get us over the line and play the Leicester, London and Stereo shows. And by f**k did he outdo himself. He absolutely killed it at all of the shows all with only a weeks worth of practice. We will forever be in debt to Richy for his dedication, enthusiasm and sheer rhythmic skill. Richy has made the decision to stick around to cover any gigs we’re offered until we get a full time drummer, yet again going above and beyond the call of duty.

So yeah, we’re needing a drummer.

We’re looking for someone that has their own kit, is able to tour regularly, is able to rehearse once a week, is financially stable and is positive and enthusiastic about up and coming opportunities.

What we have to offer; We’re signed on Milky Bomb Records, We’re backed by Reaction Management, We’ve just released our debut album featured in Metal Hammer Magazine & garnering worldwide radio play, We’ve plans to tour the UK & Ireland and much more.

Well, leaving Scotland for the first time ever was extremely successful in many ways. We got to play in 2 absolutely sick venues The Metal Monocle in Leicester & Hope and Anchor in London. We’re so happy to have made some awesome new pals too! Slump Sabres Desert Clouds This Summit Fever Halina Rice David from Civil War, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you guys and playing alongside you 🙌

We had a blast, here’s to the next time.

Due to extremely last minute unforeseen circumstances, we will not be appearing in Stafford or Hartlepool this weekend.

Leicester and London are still going ahead as planned.

We were so buzzin and so ready to play these shows with a bunch of amazing bands in some really cool venues. The shows will still go ahead, just without us. We will rebook and make it down to Stafford and Hartlepool as soon as we possibly can.

SYMPTOM OF FAILURE BY THE RHUBARB

The Rhubarb are a formidable stoner rock four piece from Glasgow who recently released their debut album “Symptom Of Failure” through Milky Bomb Records.
Since the band’s inception in 2015 they have released a number of EPs and singles which have garnered notice and praise from all quarters. They have a growing reputation throughout the UK as a force to be reckoned with within the heavy, stoner and psychedelic rock communities.
Dark, foreboding and heavy (and I mean heavy) riffs summon you to step forward and cautiously enter The Rhubarb’s ethereal realm. It sounds a bit scary and I might come out the other side forever changed, but of course I’m going in!
Listening to this album is a journey and an experience I recommend any fans of heavy rock should embark on. You will not be disappointed. The sound this band makes is overwhelming but in a really good way. It certainly pushed all of my buttons. This is a riff driven, pounding rollercoaster ride well worth the ticket price.
The overall sound this band generates is breathtaking. This is stoner rock par excellence; Slow, deep, pulsating rhythms and a beat that echoes to the Gates of Hell and back. What is there not to love about this record? Throughout the album there are nuances and flourishes that just add something extra special to the proceedings. Changing time signatures and some sterling guitar work from Michael McConville just makes this album really stand out from the crowd.
The contrasting, dueling vocals of Sean Maguire and Hannah White are a huge draw for me. They compliment the band’s sound perfectly. Both are haunting, mesmirising and mysterious as they continually riff back and forth between each other.
“Awful Dead” is one of the stand out tracks for me (so far). It literally has everything. It is one of those tracks that gives you goosebumps and even at five and three quarter minutes long, when it ends you throw your hands in the air like you have been shortchanged. You just do not want it to end.
“I Wanna Play A Game” is another exceptional track. It has various phases to keep you alert. There is a real hard, stoner groove running throughout it that I just can't get enough of.
“Symptom Of Failure” as far as I am concerned is the perfect album package. Just eight tracks but a decent run time of nearly fifty minutes, ideal for today’s music consumer.
The Rhubarb sound like a committed, well polished outfit who are not afraid of anybody when it comes to making the music they want to make and they should be commended for it. They have got me hooked and in need of checking out the rest of their back catalogue.
This band and this album have really made my day and I hope they do the same for you.

We are incredibly happy to say that SOF is available everywhere for your listening pleasure.

These 8 songs are labours of love, persistence, pain and are an accurate representation of where we all were in our lives when we were writing and recording them.
