Washed Up Events
A set of swimming events for all abilities in the Hamble River near Southampton
We've had lots of questions and all good things come to an end and WashedUp will be hanging up it's towel.
Mike and I have had a great ride and really enjoyed meeting and helping so many people enjoy swimming in the Hamble. We have had nearly 1000 swim entries across many events. We've dealt with Covid restrictions, storms, strong tides, thunder, night swims, the hamble beard but alas no visit from Sammy the Seal.
Mike and I would like to thank everyone who helped us put on the events on the shore and on the water, the country park, Fairthorne, medics, our families for showing extreme patience and finally and most importantly, YOU the swimmers. We've loved seeing you push your boundaries, deal with your fears and bring nothing but smiles on the day.
We hope to still see you out in the water regularly enjoying nature but in the style of Strictly, Keep Swimming!
I know a bit delayed but... a massive thank you to everyone for last Saturday's event.
Swimmers and volunteers were equally smiley and enthusiastic and we loved hosting the event - a massive thank you to all !
Finally, a bit thank you to YMCA Fairthorne Manor for letting us finish the swim at such a stunning location!
All ready for you at the Manor Farm water station. What a beautiful morning!
Coach 1 is off!
Welcomed by some deer and now a lovely sunrise! See you soon!
Tomorrows swim will close at 5pm this evening! Be there or be… in bed i guess….
Great early morning news! The Paddlers Rest at YMCA Fairthorne Manor will be open when you finish your swim if you want a coffee or an ice cream (English weather variables!). It’s about a ten meter walk

We’ve done multiple inspections of the river this morning and our rule of “if we wouldn’t swim in it we won’t ask you to” means the swim is off. The water quality is too poor with the rain that has fallen (and planned to fall).
We are speaking to all the various bodies about pushing the swim back to the 24th Sept but will come back to you with options as soon as we know more. We are really sorry but our swimmers safety is our number 1 priority.
Swim instructions have been mailed out for our Half River Swim on the 10th. Any questions drop me a line but looking forward to seeing you all there and if you fancy coming along you are always welcome, just sign up on the link below:

Our hostess with the mostess, Sandra Coffin will do the draw for the spot prizes on the day!
A massive thank you to Swim Secure

Unfortunately we've taken the hard decision to cancel this Saturday's SunRiser swim as we've just not had enough entries across the 3 events. For those entered, you will receive a full refund this evening.
Our half river swim in September already has nearly as many entries as we had last year so it just means we can focus even more on that and giving the swimmers a great experience in the Hamble. Then back to the drawing board to look at what we can do make our swims and aquathons even better!
Lots of people entering this evening for next Saturday morning's swim, junior swim and aquathlon! So, you may as well join them!

Someone way wiser than me has told me that if we get more reviews on our page it helps on searches and stuff, sooo, could we please ask you to leave a review on the page (ideally with a lot of stars) to help us push up the ratings. Pretty please and many thanks in advance!

A love of swimming outdoors
Mike and Stefan have created a series of small fun swimming events on the Hamble River to enable swimmers of all levels to enjoy this amazing location in a safe environment whilst pushing themselves as far or as little as they want.
The events are laps of 750m where swimmers can cover as many laps as they want within 90 minutes. Swim for 9 minutes, 90 minutes or somewhere in between, our events are about you swimming as much or as a little as you want with the same level of support from the event team. If you want, get out after a bit, take a break and then go back in, the 90 minutes is for you to use as much or as little as you want. Whether you're a first time open water swimmer or someone training for another event, these swims are for you and all swimmers will receive a swim hat and a finishers token for completing the event.
