If you're not true to yourself, it's not only frustrating;

It's exhausting.

You'll find yourself trying to please everyone else while forgetting who you are, what truly brings you peace and happiness and how to be your authentic self.

Once you trust in your authentic self and bring this true self in your day to day life

When looking back, 2023 didn't have to be full of only
" happiness"

You are humans which means you feel and feel everything because you are alive
So feeling also.....
Fear, anxiety, sadness, regret, anger
These are equally as important to feel and are just as valid

You are like a work or art in the making, a book in writing and a puzzle in completing, you need every part to complete your journey

Without ALL parts how can you learn? what will you learn? how will you grow?

All these parts are part of you because you are human and
because you feel.....
because you live

If we want light we must have shade and if we want highs there will be lows
But this for me is better than EMPTINESS or feeling NOTHING AT ALL

Sit with sadness, give it space and time.
Look at anger, what have you learnt?
Embrace and Face fear

So go into 2024 knowing you are HUMAN you feel and go make your work of art, go write your next chapter and look for more parts in your puzzle

Hi I'm
Caroline a counselling therapist based in Essex.
Like a lot of Counsellors i found my own experience of counselling incredibly self empowering and enlightening to discover the good and not so good parts about me.
The knowledge is power and enables choice,
and for me there was no other job I wanted to do more than be a counsellor myself.

A key part to counselling is the relationship you have between you and your counsellor and each therapist will be very different.

Do you feel comfortable to be completely yourself with your therapist, say exactly what's in your mind, be totally open, be authenticly yourself when in the room?
If you are holding things back, then why?
Is this the right counsellor for you?
Could you tell your counsellor you don't feel the sessions are working, or you feel you hold back on certain things,
allowing honesty to be present in the room,
allowing the therapist to respond to this?

Only true authenticity can enable possible growth,
And a beneficial working relationship with your therapist ✨️

It may not always feel comfortable, but the comfort zone was never a place for growth and discovery

Today is the first day of mental health awareness week

For today's post I wanted to talk about emotionally unavailable parents

As a parent we are only trying our best with the skills we have, there is no instruction manual unfortunately.

Also every child can respond differently even within the same circumstances.

However if you are someone who is struggling with your emotions either to recognise them or manage them or you tend to supress them, then it maybe that as a child your worries, fears, anxiety, sadness, anger was not met with emotional support, reassurance, validation and security.

Exploring this through counselling can break these cycles and allow healing to take place.

The biggest threat to a man's life under age 50 is himself.

Su***de is the first cause of death in men under 50

Although mens mental health has come a long way from where it was it still has a very long way to go too.

For many men the signs of depression can be missed and for other the pressure to "carry on, be strong, man up" is too great to talk openly or ask for help and support

Let's all play our part in supporting men to talk openly about their worries, fears and anxiety.
Sometimes we just need to offer a space for someone to talk to not feel alone and not feel judged

Help them find the strength to reach out for support

Understanding Transactional Analysis can be incredibly beneficial for people experiencing anxiety or depression.
By gaining insite into your thinking and behaviours towards others will grow self knowledge and self empowerment to resolve challenges.

Human beings are social creatures, and comparison is common throughout our entire history.

Social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook bombard us with posts about what we lack. These apps are comparison traps that encourage us to question aspects of our own lives.

It’s easy to forget that social media is a highlight reel of other people’s lives. We see their best moments, but don’t usually witness their struggles.

We often compare our lesser qualities with a person's best qualities, skewing our judgment.

We are all so individual and that is what makes us special and unique, we need everyone in this world for it to work. Different skills, talents and personalities 🙌🤗❤️

I can hold the umbrella whilst you weather your storm .....

We all have moments in our lives when we require the assistance of others. We don’t ever know all there is to know or have the skills to do everything proficiently or successfully. We certainly don’t expect that of others, either. So it makes sense we would have occasion to ask someone for help at some point.

Asking for help doesn’t devalue you in any way. It can enable you to advance, connect you meaningfully with yourself and others, bolster your productivity and ability to do things with greater ease, and better prepare you for your next challenge.
