In loving memory of our friend Alan Rankine, who sadly left us one year ago.

Alan was the creative genius behind The Associates, before forging a solo career and inspiring the next generation of bands at Stow College in Glasgow. Our name is a tribute to his biggest hit from 1982 (and used with kind permission).

We miss you and will be raising a glass tonight.

It's one month today since Party Fears Two - Electronic Eighties. Would there be interest in us doing another one?

A little bit of background information on how we chose our name.

Party Fears Two is the 1982 hit by Scottish band the Associates. This event is named in honour of one half of the band's founding duo, Alan Rankine, who sadly passed away at the beginning of this year. Alan was an incredibly talented musician, tutor, mentor - and very dear friend to us.

After the Associates, Alan forged a career as a solo artist before inspiring the next generation of Scottish musicians at Stow College in Glasgow. There he mentored and was basically responsible for the early successes of Belle and Sebastian, Biffy Clyro and Snow Patrol. As if that wasn't staggering enough he went on to write/co-write a string of hits for other artists - even channeling his inner boy band with 911. Despite this, he was seemingly oblivious - not just of his talent but also to just how much people thought of him.

The music lives on, and we look forward to welcoming you to our party.

Party Fears Two is a new alternative 80s night featuring the best synthpop, New Romantic and alternative mixes of the era. The pilot event takes place in Southport on July 1st. It's not a late event to allow easier travel for people afterwards.
