Holbeach Meadows Care Home

Intergenerational therapy is very important to us at Holbeach Meadows, and a key part of our lifestyles provision. We love our visits from our childminder network, who hold their fortnightly get together at our home. The residents enjoy interacting with the little ones, the smiles the children bring spread through the home to us all 😊

Cooking club made some delicious jam tarts for our tea, they went down very well with everyone!

Our Armchair Travel for August saw is virtually travelling to Austria, we enjoyed a traditional menu, watched a documentary to learn about the country and did a quiz. I’m cooking club the residents made a delicious Austrian strawberry cake for our tea! 🍰 🍓🇦🇹

Be Great Fitness have now visited both of our floors and have been just as much of a hit downstairs as they were upstairs! We look forward to their weekly visits to work on our gross motor skills, hand to eye coordination and muscle strength! 💪🏻💪🏻

What amazing entertainment we had last week from the Purple Angels to celebrate Senior Citizens Day, followed by a glass of Prosecco in a toast to ‘us’ our residents! 🎤🎶🍾🥂

This week at Holbeach Meadows…!

Gardening and food prep are life skills that we promote at Holbeach Meadows, it’s great to feel useful and needed and be a part of the running of our home

We had double birthday celebrations over the weekend!! Just look at those yummy cakes 🎂!

We enjoyed a great beach day at the weekend! The day started with a DVD reminiscing about seaside holidays through the years, followed by an afternoon in the garden with sand and paddling pools, buckets and spades and beach balls, seagull and wave sounds setting the scene and summery 50’s music! Afternoon snack had to be ice cream - 99’s all round! Then a picnic style tea complete with chip cones, cockles and donuts rounded the day off!

It’s a boy! The residents gathered for a gender reveal for care assistant Ellie and were delighted to see a shower of blue confetti!! 👶🏼💙

Today is World Senior Citizens Day, so we are celebrating our residents! We are looking forward to an afternoon of entertainment from the fabulous Purple Angels with a glass of Prosecco to toast us!! 🎤🎶🍾🥂

We have sponsored Holbeach’s brand new Under 10’s football club!!

Manager Joe Read and Jay McDonald, assistant manager, brought along some of the new team, to showcase their skills and their fabulous new kits, showing off the Tanglewood logo, and to meet the residents and team! It was great to see the boys in their kits having a game in the garden, and enjoying ice lollies together, we had a lovely afternoon!

We had dominoes vs triominoes going on in the dining room the other day! Great games that never get old!!

Our puzzle club has grown and grown in popularity, finding words within a word is one of the big favourites in the club! It’s one of those activities where you start with a handful of residents and by the end of the activity you’ve got a room full, even the team members can’t walk past without having a go!!

We celebrated the closing of the Tanglewood Olympics with a fabulous party, starting with the presentation of certificates for our latest events, followed by some traditional party games including charades and pass the parcel with plenty of chocolate prizes, some great music and a lovely party buffet tea!! 🎁🍫

Residents from Sunrise Meadow are making the most of the summer weather and enjoyed a few games of dominoes in the garden yesterday evening ☀️☀️

Our air-conditioned cinema has been a welcome escape from the heat recently! Our cinema has daily showings of films, sporting events or documentaries and is available at all other times for residents and their visitors to use to watch whatever they wish!! 🍿 🎥

Residents have been out in the garden with Lifestyles Coordinator Sarah, cropping our tomatoes and planting parsnips, and with Maintenance Man Colin staining the garden furniture 😊🖌️🪴👩🏻‍🌾👨🏼‍🌾

Congratulations to our maintenance man Colin on being voted our Team Member of the Month for July! Colin was nominated for always being kind and helpful, always offering to help everyone with a smile and being kind and considerate! It was lovely to see so many of our ancillary team members being nominated this month, and a huge well done to Colin!

Did you see our reel of mini golf photos yesterday? What we didn’t tell you was that this lady, our amazing Audrey, didn’t want to play, she didn’t think she would be able to do it, but we talked her in to having a go - and she only went and got a hole in one!!! Way to go Audrey!! ⛳️🥇
