⚽️We asked for the names of the coaches kids that help out. When we have five or six players that gave up their Saturday mornings to help the Teeny Tulips and it needs applauding.

⚽️First to training, last to leave, nearly impossible to win manager’s player awards and very hard to get player of the match. From pumping up the match balls, setting up training, to raking leaves on the pitches. From helping with the Teenys to to putting the equipment away at training. Never getting the credit when the team wins but getting some of the blame when you lose, you guessed it, it’s the coaches’s kids.

⚽️Well done all, the reason why so many of us coaches do it and the reason why we keep going when it gets tough. The true unsung heroes at the club. COYT 🌷

“The decision to cancel a Game”
It’s easy to criticise the decision to cancel a game, but before you do just take a second to think what has gone into making that decision first.

1) Is it safe for everyone and is the forecast safe?
2) Is it currently playable and what is the forecast?
3) Is there a weather warning in place now or whilst the games are on?
4) Will the pitch drain water or thaw frost in time?
5) What’s the temperature forecast now, overnight and during the game?
6) What time is KO and how far are the opposition travelling from?

Sometimes the decision to cancel is made at the last minute if a belief that the game can be playable will be made, other times an early decision will be made. All decisions are made with the available information at the time and the available upto date weather forecasts. Often the decision is right, sometimes the decision can “in hindsight” be wrong due to many factors such as drainage, temperature, wind etc but always the decision is made in good faith.

Many times we’ve personally made this decision and know it’s not an exact science at times, so a little shoutout of support from teamgrassroots to those with the decision on their shoulders and who will quite often be up late and up early doing last minute checks and obsessively checking weather forecasts. We appreciate it 🙌🏻🙌🏽🙌🏿. Thanks football.

⚽️Our way of helping the younger players in our club learn about past legend of the game.

⚽️Terence Frederick Venables (6 January 1943 – 25 November 2023), often referred to as El Tel,was an English football player and manager who played for clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers and won two caps for England.

As a manager, Venables won the Second Division championship with Crystal Palace in 1979. He reached the 1982 FA Cup Final with Queens Park Rangers and won the Second Division in 1983. With Barcelona, he won La Liga in 1985 and reached the 1986 European Cup Final. He guided Tottenham Hotspur to victory in the 1991 FA Cup Final. He also managed Middlesbrough and Leeds United.

As the England national team manager from 1994 to 1996, he reached the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championships. As England manager, his tactical style was modern and innovative, which was a contrast to the rigid tactical style that dominated English football at the time. He also had good personal relationships with the players in the squad. He managed Australia from 1996 to 1998.

⚽️U7s blues -Noah rw - Noah’s coming back from an injury but every week he’s getting stronger and fitter and was a hand full today for upwell

⚽️Under 8s - Tymon striker - 6 goals caps off a wonderful team performance away from home .Big well done to Toby who performed heroics in goal.

⚽️U9W Tyler, excellent performance in the attacking 3rd. Kept the team pushing forward. Battled for every ball.

⚽️U10 Blue - Georgie RW. A Star performance on the wing.

⚽️U10 whites - Dexter Def. In a physical game against a direct style of play, he dealt with most things in a accomplished manner and kept battling till the end. Great performance by goal keeper William Boxall as well.

⚽️U12-Billy Costello, left wing, amazing play down the left and rewarded with a cracking goal and a penalty. Good team performance to see us come back and win from a goal down. Big shout out to George Smith with a list minute penalty save.

⚽️U14W-Jacob Dani Midfield
A battling midfield performance, full of effort , great on the ball and did his best today

⚽️U15-Ryan Lee , left back, Real solid game, 1st & 2nd to every ball, covered ground, covered his team mates. Great performances also form Eric and then returning Kaiden.

We at Spalding are committed to supporting the initiative and ask that you please show your support if watching any of our teams over the coming weeks.

⚽️Players can continue to communicate and support their team both on and off the pitch
⚽️Parents/Spectators should make use of applause only to show their encouragement and positivity for both/either team

Diego Armando Maradona 30 October 1960 – 25 November 2020) was an Argentine professional football player and manager. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, he was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award.

An advanced playmaker who operated in the classic number 10 position, Maradona's vision, passing, ball control, and dribbling skills were combined with his small stature, which gave him a low centre of gravity and allowed him to manoeuvre better than most other players. His presence and leadership on the field had a great effect on his team's general performance, while he would often be singled out by the opposition. In addition to his creative abilities, he possessed an eye for goal and was known to be a free kick specialist. A precocious talent, Maradona was given the nickname El Pibe de Oro ("The Golden Boy"), a name that stuck with him throughout his career.

Maradona was the first player to set the world record transfer fee twice: in 1982 when he transferred to Barcelona for £5 million, and in 1984 when he moved to Napoli for a fee of £6.9 million. He played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla, and Newell's Old Boys during his club career, and is most famous for his time at Napoli where he won numerous accolades and led the club to Serie A title wins twice.

In his international career with Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals. Maradona played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where he captained Argentina and led them to victory over West Germany in the final, and won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player.

⚽️Well done all for coming on a cold November night. Nothing says I love football more than a cold, wet night training at Tyrell’s.

⚽️Huge thanks to Ruby Quinn and Ruby Forsyth for helping and coming all this way before going to train in Peterborough themselves, huge respect.

⚽️We started with the classic, good old game of bulldog, I’m sure many still have playground tarmac scars from this. We do this as one big squad because some of the girls have trained with the boys since they were 3 and they have all said they miss each other at training.

⚽️The teams are developing. The girls are now split and we will get two teams from the boys in the next few weeks. A lot missing tonight so seems unfair to split and take photos tonight.

⚽️The boys were superb and full of energy and loved the game based excercises. They have all started to look up rather than down hence the amount of goals scored tonight rather than endless throw ins 🤣

⚽️The girls took a different approach and the two Rubys (the two young female coaches) worked with them on individual skills and balance and it was great to see them develop in an hour.

⚽️Great session and something we are all proud off. We are still short on year 1 girls and even year 2 so please spread the word and get them talking on the playgrounds about what a great team they have joined and how they are on the pitch before the first team on a Saturday as Mascots.

⚽️What do you enjoy most/ least about youth football- I really love watching how the work on the training pitch translates to the games. Seeing our team grow in confidence and ability is just brilliant.

⚽️Coaching qualifications. - Not much at present as pretty new to it. Just the mandatory safeguarding and first aid. Hoping to do some more in the off season.

⚽️Best Moment from your team. ( Spalding youth) - Hard to pick one tbh. The smile on my sons face when he was beaming with pride to be a Spalding player was my personal high but the win TODAY was an amazing team performance and also a major highlight. Tbh the best moment is usually the next one you look forward to and hope for.

⚽️Who did you play for - Not much. I spent my youth doing motorsport. I did play power league In Peterborough and a bit at University but nothing major. You don’t need to be a massive ex player to be a grass roots coach.

⚽️Biggest game you have coached or played in-
Coaching or playing - I’d say there’s no game I played in that’s half as important to me as the U10 games.

⚽️U7 B- Amro RW mate plenty of passing and his assists out scored his goals today he’s a real team player

⚽️U8- Frankie - forward - 2 goals and a good battling performance

⚽️U9-B- Taylon - complete performance, goals tackling and assists.
Good solid group stage win , nice professional job by the boys

⚽️U9 W- George. Box to box performance. Won his tackles, made his passes and was close with a goal, denied bybthe post, never stopped running. Excellent team performance as well.

⚽️U10W-Harrison - LW scored 2 great goals including a volley from a corner. Really good passing display with plenty of hard work, resulting in a win and scoring with the last kick of the game!!

⚽️U10 B- Frankie DEF . Battled like trooper today . Won every header and dual against a very very Physical Eye Pumas side.

⚽️SUNDAYS FIXTURES⚽️

⚽️U12- Jake harris, CDM, controlled the centre of the park and finished a fine effort from outside the box. Contributed to the u12 getting back to winning ways after a tough few weeks

⚽️U13 B- A scrappy game due to the pitch and the weather saw us show enough quality to run out 4-1 winners against an athletic Hampton side.
Player of the match - the creative display from Harry Earth - 3 assists from a holding midfield role but a huge team effort with so many injuries and sickness!

⚽️U13W-Harry boulton Gk, Mason Thurlow CBHarry had his best game for us today picking the ball out of the air with no effort.
Mason is mr Cool at the back some big clearances. Great all round performance from the boys today came away with a 1-1 draw but should have been more for us but sitting a good 5th place in a very tough division.

⚽️U14B- A heavy 13-0 cup loss, but we go again. Will never be a team thats only proud when winning, battled against one of the best teams in Scunny with only one outfield sub and a two hour journey. Tough day but one more to learn and grow from. Might not have got the win but did gain a McDonald’s tray ( see photos 🤣)

⚽️U14 W- Jake Brickles Good individual performance in what was a difficult physical game resulting in a 6 2 loss. Some brilliant passes. Scored 2 penalties with the post stopping him getting the Hattrick.

⚽️U15- Charlie P, Was outstanding in midfield, the progression his made over the last few months is amazing to see and one of few highlights in a tough season

⚽️Ellen Toni Convery MBE (née White; born 9 May 1989), commonly known as Ellen White, is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward. White is the record goalscorer for the England women's national team. With England, she has competed at three FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments: in the 2011, 2015 and 2019, reaching the semi-finals in 2015 and 2019 and finishing third in 2015. White earned the Bronze Boot award at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France. She represented Great Britain team at the 2012 and 2020 Summer Olympics.

Having progressed through Arsenal academy, White returned to the Gunners in 2010 after spells with Chelsea and Leeds United. She has also played for Notts County and Birmingham City. White earned the WSL's Golden Boot Award for most goals scored during the 2017–18 season. With Arsenal, she won the league in 2011 and 2012; the FA Women's Cup in 2011 and 2013 and the FA WSL Cup in 2011, 2012, and 2013. With Birmingham City, she was the league's top scorer in 2018. With Manchester City, she won the Women's FA Cup in 2020.

White has been named England's International Player of the Year three times, in 2011, 2018 and 2021.
