'Shoeless' Joe Jackson

In 1919, the Chicago White Sox famously 'threw' the World Series in their defeat to the Cincinnati Reds. Often described as the greatest team in baseball, eight players were eventually banned for life.

The eight were Arnold 'Chick' Gandil, Eddie Cocotte, Oscar 'Happy' Felsch, Fred McMullin, Charles 'Swede' Risberg, George 'Buck' Weaver, Claude 'Lefty' Williams and 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson.

The eight were later represented as ghosts in the 1989 film, Field of Dreams.

The largest living land carnivores on earth, it is predicted that unless action is taken to mitigate man made climate change - these magnificent animals may be extinct by the end of this century.

The Saki Monkey is one of the smallest in the world and can be found in South America, although not currently endangered - loss of habitat is a growing concern.

From a distance these cute little animals could be mistaken for bear Cubs. However these Bush Dogs are resident carnivores found in South America and are one of the smallest wild pack hunting dogs on the planet.

The African lion is the second largest of the big cats with the tiger being the largest.

Sadly their numbers have declined and it is estimated that in the 1940’s there was a wild population of around 450,000 - estimates are now closer to 20,000 and these magnificent animals are vulnerable due to hunting.

Creating a bit of colourisation in portrait photography is a bit of a new skill for me that allows for some creative interpretation.
