🏴 🇺🇸 🎶 the finale moments of ‘Across the Water’ by Scott Gendel performed by Madison Youth Choirs in Holy Trinity, St Andrews ••• Originally commissioned in honor of MYC’s summer 2016 visit to the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, we returned to this work in anticipation of 85 MYC singers visiting our beloved Scotland again this summer. The work combines the haunting “The Water is Wide” with an upbeat and rhythmic waulking song. St Salvator’s Chapel Choir is the flagship choir of the University of St Andrews, Scotland. A mixed voice ensemble of around 30 students, its history extends back to the founding of the University in the early fifteenth century, when students were obliged to sing in the University’s chapel. These choristers were referred to as the ‘Choristi Sanctiandree’.
Today, under the direction of Claire Innes-Hopkins, the choir performs a broad repertoire spanning the six centuries of the University’s history. In addition to three sung services per week and extensive ceremonial duties, the choir enjoys a busy schedule of concerts, international tours and broadcasts on radio and TV, as well as appearances at international festivals including, most recently, the Thüringer Bachwochen (Germany)
Dunedin Consort
This Sunday, Dunedin Consort will explore music’s relationship with nature and look at how the arts can both reflect and inspire environmental concerns. 🎵🌳
Their performance will include a brand new piece 'Yince a paradise' by composer Drew Hammond, learn more about the background to the piece below and then come along and witness this unique performance with us in the Holy Trinity Church.
