With temperatures rising, our cherry tomatoes are ripening nicely, sweet and juicy... simply, a taste of summer!!
When planning on what to grow, we think, “what ingredients do our chefs need when planning their menus?”. Well the answer is as much as we can possibly grow, including these gherkins - Hand sown, grown (with no chemical inputs), picked, pickled in house for building our own burgers with at the Steak Barn!
Speaking of which… Great 🌞 day for a Steak Barn visit, now open till 9pm, Wednesday - Sunday.

Wishing all dads a Happy Father’s Day!!!
This week we celebrate and there’s a lot to rave about blooms, sprigs and foliage, grown in our climate, on our turf.
A lot of what is grown, up and down the country, is rarely seen in conventional florists, making them even more special, different and unique.
We are made to think about the environmental impact of what we eat and how we travel, but what about cut flowers? Ours are grown in season, without any chemical inputs, with an organic approach, as opposed to flown in from abroad , grown with pesticides etc. It’s a no brainer!
So, the team at Strathtyrum Flowers made up some lovely bunches for the weekend, available from the Garden Shed.
Big thank you to everyone who made it to this evening’s Night Market. We hope you enjoyed it and we look forward to seeing you again at the next one, Tuesday 2nd July for another great line up with plenty of sunshine in order!!!

Some of today’s activities included butchery, veg growing, cereals, farm machinery, soil health, fire lighting, BBQ, as well as meeting our dairy cows, sheep, pigs and bloodhounds!

The pressure's on at the Market Garden...
Having gone from winter to summer, in the space of a week, our plants (grown from seed) have shot up, leaving no transplanting window over the next couple of weeks. Instead, these plants, including our tomatoes, must be urgently planted - 2.5 weeks earlier than last year!!
However, we are looking forward to enjoying some of the produce Andrew has planned for us, through our kitchens and shop,
In image order we have, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Aubergines, Peppers and Courgettes, just to mention a few.
What a great start to the season - Thank you all for coming and we’ll see you back next month for another great line-up on Tuesday 4th June, 5-9pm.

Our Story
Conceived from a love of fresh, Scottish fare, Balgove has become a hub for top notch locally reared, grown, stalked, caught, handmade, and prepared foods.
In our humble opinion, Scotland is home to some of the world’s best beef, game, seafood and produce. Instead of seeing this amazing food shipped off to the far corners of the globe, our desire is to keep it right here on home turf. Everything we raise and grow on the farm travels just a few miles, at most, and ends up right here in the shop, ready for you to take home.
Come visit us. Browse, shop, meet a friend, eat, join us for an event. We’re proud of what we do and we think you’ll enjoy yourself.
