Didn't know Gary too well, we spoke on the rank at Leuchars a few times.
Sad day. Thinking of Gary's family at this sad time.
RIP Gary https://www.facebook.com/share/p/twbfZynTxqMtW7MN/

It is with much sadness that we would like to let all customers and friends of the business know that Gary has very sadly and suddenly passed away earlier today.

We would like to thank everyone for their valued business over the years. Gary was extremely proud of everything GMCs stood for and loved all his customers, which is part of the reason GMCs was such a success

He will be greatly missed by so many.

Just a little thought when dealing with small business. Everytime someone pays me by card it costs me a percentage of that fare.

This is worth thinking about 🤨!

Why are banks putting pressure on their customers to abandon cash payments in favor of digital payments?

YOU PAY BY CARD AND LOSE MONEY. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC WHY BANKS MAKE IT EASY FOR ATMs TO USE?

Why are digital payments getting easier and easier?

LET'S FIND IT OUT!

Why pay with cash everywhere rather than a debit card?

Let's take the following example: a 50 euro note is circulating in the economy.

- I have a 50 euro note in my pocket, I bring it to the restaurant and pay for my dinner.

- The restaurant owner uses the same 50 euros to settle the bill for his car wash.

- The car wash owner pays for a haircut at his barber.

- The hairdresser uses this 50 euros to shop at the market.

After an unlimited number of payments, the €50 note remains a €50 note, it has filled the circuit for which it was designed, it has fulfilled its function for all those who used it as a means of payment.

The bank did not intervene, therefore it did not gain anything from these transactions.

WELL SO WHAT THE FACT?

- If I go to the restaurant and pay digitally with a debit card, what happens?

- The cost of the digital payment charged by the restaurateur, including the percentage transaction fee, is on average 2.5%, which means 1.25 euros for each subsequent payment transaction.

(THIS MEANS THAT EVERY DIGITAL PAYMENT TRANSACTION COSTS €1.25).

- the same rate applies when the restaurateur pays his digital bill at the washing station,

- the same rate applies when the owner of the car wash pays the hairdresser,

- this transaction is repeated consecutively for the following payments, etc.

So after the first 36 transactions, €50 fell to €5 and the remaining €45 became bank property...

Also, the cost of a debit card on average is €2.25 per month, so €50 after a month of savings is only €47.75.

Now think of billions of people and billions of transactions.

Banks are the best example of how you can make money from nothing!

At the same time, they cause enormous damage, pull money out of circulation and fuel inflation.

Let's ALL, or as many people as possible, use decentralized wallets for our transactions in the absence of cash that will necessarily disappear.

Let's ALL change the way we pay.

Not my post, but the content is definitely bang on.

Anyone considering starting up on their own take heed. I’d like to add though, that the positive side is also enormous. The key is learning to earn your self respect.

“The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.
Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
People will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a provider, family support, friend, spouse...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!”

Sent from another taxi driver.

Something taxi drivers can related to. 😆

Using a taxi - An education piece
- ordering -
If you are only going 100 yards despite being relatively young and able bodied, have you thought of walking?
Are you intending to move furniture or move house entirely? Wrong service, you need a removal van.
Do you stink of stale urine? Go wash yourself and your clothes first.
Are you ringing a taxi from the town you are actually in? Or are you expecting someone to drive a 12 mile round trip to take you a 1/4 mile?
Do you know the address you are at? Guessing is no good to either party, go outside and check street name and door number if necessary.
Are you actually ready? The taxi will take approx 4 mins to arrive. You should not be shocked and unprepared for something you ordered! Popping out to say "5 minutes mate, she's just finishing her hair" is unacceptable. If ordering from a pub, you have not got time for another pint!
How many are in your group? Unbelievably, your children actually count as people! You cannot put seven people in a saloon car, no matter how small they are. "Go on mate, it'll be ok, we aren't going far" isn't going to pay the driver's mortgage when he loses his job. You may need to order a larger taxi/multiple taxis.
If you do order 2 taxis, they will not turn up at the exact same second. It is unnecessary to ask the driver of the first car if the second car is also coming. Why wouldn't it be? The driver also cannot answer where the other car is, he isn't driving that one.
Planning on sending your unattended 6 year old daughter to her dads in a complete strangers taxi? Recent studies suggest well over 100% of taxi drivers are rapists and murderers. (Seriously though, you need shot if you think this is an acceptable thing to do)
Are you about to vomit? Perhaps you could wait until you feel better first?
Have you got a 13 stone Bull Mastiff or a soaking wet Akita with you? Believe it or not many drivers wouldn't want this in their car, so perhaps you should mention it on the phone. Scientific opinion is also now beginning to suggest that dogs may "enjoy" walking.
Getting a taxi from a taxi rank in the town? - it is not necessary to tap on the window and ask if the driver is available, you can tell he is by the fact he is sitting in a taxi at the front of a taxi rank with a massive taxi light on the roof and a "for hire" sign lit up in the windscreen! Do you think he just goes there to read his paper at at 3am on a Saturday?
When approaching a queue of taxis all pointing the same direction on a public rank, it is quite obvious that you should get in the one at the front, not the third car out of seven.
If attempting to flag a passing taxi, putting your arm out will suffice, you do not need to star jump into the road and potentially cause an accident. Whether the driver stops is not based on your effort. That's how they make their money. They will stop if they are available (unless you are suspiciously staggering out of a remote industrial estate, covered in blood).
In a pub car park, there is no need to ask taxi drivers if they are your taxi, when they aren't even from the company you rang.
- Boarding the taxi -
On approach to the taxi, it would serve you well not to drag the metal chain strap of your handbag right up the side of the car.
You know that extra big lungful of cigarette smoke you just inhaled? Yeah, breathe that out.
Tip from a motor industry insider: cars often have doors on BOTH sides. Shuffling across: unnecessary.
Taxi drivers can be very helpful, however, asking one to lift your legs in for you is probably a step too far. You may need social services not a taxi.
Women: car doors do not need to be slammed shut with the force of a thousand suns.
As a human, you should fit in a family saloon. It is not the driver's fault if you do not.
When the driver asks you where you would like to go, "home" is not a funny answer, you are not funny, looking round at your friends, open mouthed, for approval will not change that.
- On the journey -
Yes, that beeping noise is you, put your seatbelt on.
If you have a child on your lap, putting the seatbelt round both of you is moronic, your weight will kill your child in a crash.
Tariff 2 is not "double tariff". Do not panic.
Asking the driver for discount, is basically a complete stranger asking if they want a voluntary pay cut.
Warning! - The side effects of aggressively telling the driver how much you are going to pay/telling him you won't pay, includes sore swollen face and temporary unconsciousness.
The signs that reads "no food or drink" are not just for aesthetics, the driver surprisingly doesn't want food all over his car. That includes opening packets of crisps for your horrible children. Years of experience has taught the driver that "I promise I won't drop any" means you will definitely drop some, if not all.
Do not moan about your benefits to a driver working 70 hours a week.
Try not to spray the driver's arm with saliva when speaking.
Do not confuse the driver with a DJ, he does not do requests.
