Millbrook residents enjoyed their Christmas party with entertainment from Little Angels Stalybridge, Funtasia Kids Club and singer 🎶

We enjoyed playing and with the children before having a buffet tea.

It was such a fantastic day!

Last week, we received a lovely hamper containing gifts from the year eight pupils at The Blue Coat School Oldham. They had donated some beautiful items and visited to chat with residents. A huge thank you to them for such a generous donation.

We would also like to express a huge 'Thank You' to for sending us some selection boxes and Dunns garden and pet centre for gifting us a Christmas tree 🎄🍫

Christmas Day celebrations at Millbrook were full of festivities! We had lots of visits from family and friends, as well as some delicious food, games and dressing up! 🎄🎅🎁

We've been feeling musical this week at Millbrook! 🎶

On Monday, we welcomed entertainer to our home to sing a mixture of Christmas songs and 'golden oldies'. The following day, we had a visit from the choir at .

It's been a fantastic week so far, and we are very much enjoying the festivities

The festivities have come to Millbrook! 🎄

Last week, we created some elf-themed gift bags for , with colleagues and residents dressing up in elf outfits. It was such a fun day!

We had a wonderful week of Remembrance-themed activities and events.

In the run-up to the weekend, we decorated these beautiful . Then, on Saturday, we had a reading from Kate Booth, who read 'Tommy's Alphabet', a book often used to teach people about the bravery of soldiers.

After observing a two-minute silence, we laid a wreath in memory of the local village men who had lost their lives. This was a poignant moment for us, as Millbrook Care Home was the local school at the time, and some of our residents have memories of studying here.

The Remembrance weekend was finished with a visit from the local children of , who brought poppy biscuits they had made and gave them out to all of our residents.

Wishing our colleagues, residents and their loved ones a blessed, healthy and prosperous Diwali!

On Remembrance Sunday we take a moment to remember the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who served in the armed forces.

We would like to honour this day as a time to remember and reflect, and to also give thanks to the many residents in our care homes, past and present, who bravely served their country.

HC-One care homes across the UK will be observing a 2-minute silence at 11am today as we pay our respects and remember the courageous fallen.

Residents recently enjoyed a visit from ZooLab animal therapy, who brought with them various animals to interact with.

We got up close and personal with a snail, centipede, snake and rat! 🐌🐍

Our residents loved handling the animals and commented on how heavy the snail was!

We had a fantastic evening at our party at Millbrook this week with a special display for residents, relatives and colleagues to watch.

Our fantastic chef whipped some delicious meat and potato pie with black peas, which we enjoyed while watching our fireworks display!

Our Halloween party at Millbrook yesterday was a blast! We had a fancy dress competition as well as , a and lots of cake!

We also celebrated one of our residents, Bessie's 102nd birthday, which made the day extra special!

We've been preparing for Halloween at Millbrook by carving pumpkins ready for our party tomorrow 🎃

Bernard, Jacqueline and Margaret certainly enjoyed getting creative with theirs!

Today is World Stroke Day.

According to the World Stroke Organization, strokes are the leading cause of disability worldwide, with over 12 million people a year being affected.

But did you know….up to 90% of strokes are preventable, and with some quick thinking, we can recognise the symptoms quickly and make a difference in the outcome!

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

World Mental Health Day is recognised across the globe to highlight how important it is to reflect on our own mental health and wellbeing, how we can support others, and that it’s ok to ask for help.

This October, we’re celebrating and supporting International Black History Month - a time to honour the culture, history and achievements of black individuals across the globe.

This year, we’re recognising the 75th anniversary of Windrush by taking the time to explore and listen to the lives and stories of the Black Britons who were living in the UK before or during the arrival of Empire Windrush in 1948.

We’re also honouring the accomplishments of Black Women who are often forgotten heroines, as part of the Black History Month UK theme ‘Celebrating our Sisters’.

Throughout October, HC-One is looking forward to coming together as a community to honour and celebrate the incredible contributions of Black individuals to British society, both throughout history and within our HC-One family.

Residents went armchair travelling in the morning and shared their memories of holidays in Italy

In the afternoon, we went all out and made pizzas to eat for tea, which were absolutely delicious!🍕

We've been trying our hand at a new craft recently...

Jacqueline and Beryl both had a go at weaving on a small hand loom. They had never done it before and really enjoyed trying something new! 🧶

We had a baking afternoon last week at Millbrook, and residents had fun making chocolate crispy cakes, which they had for their afternoon snack 🍫

Is anyone up for some deep-sea diving? 🌊

Millbrook residents took part in a deep sea diving experience last week, and what an experience it was! We had great fun with the new technology and were fascinated with how realistic it felt.
