Apologies, this is a lengthy read…………..
Hi everyone, and a very happy new year to you all.
Mid November last year saw us bring the curtain down on the 2023 season for Ride n Slide Dayz with a fabulous, pretty much perfect day at Iwade, home of the Kent Royals. The track, the weather & the group were simply awesome and with the amazing RnS team on absolutely top form it was a great way to close the season. As always it was great to see some returning faces as well as meeting and working with some for the very first time. The level of effort put in by everyone was just off the scale and a personal highlight for me was seeing the massive progress made by British Youth Championship rider Ellis Newell since he was last with us, the time spent out in Poland clearly paying huge dividends.
The day also gave the chance for the team to take to the track and put in some well deserved laps, I also got to fulfil a lifelong ambition in the process so it was win-win-win all round. It was also really special to take to the track with Graham Wilson, my team mate in the Arena Essex Junior Hammers, Southern Junior League Champions side of 1987, truly rolling back the years !
2023 as a whole was a disappointing one, some of it you couldn’t have made up ! We lost two of our three July events to waterlogged tracks only to have one, rearranged for August lost to the rain too !! Maybe this global warming is a ‘thing’ after all.
Sadly, this was a major factor in us taking the decision to call time on Ride n Slide Dayz. We went into 2023 with lots of positivity and enthusiasm only to be hit by a triple whammy within the first few months. Firstly, Oxford, despite early signs of interest expressed no interest of hosting us at all, secondly, Mildenhall, one of our regular venues for over ten years wanted to increase the track hire cost by 50% making it our most expensive track cost ever, higher than Coventry, King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Wolverhampton, so that wasn’t happening and then the icing on the cake was the news that Wolverhampton were to be ousted from Monmore Green, just one year after our first ever events there !! Coupling this with no imminent sign of speedway returning to either Eastbourne or Rye House, and Belle Vue continuing to care more about any Tom, Dick or Harry who happens to own a speedway bike than their own fans that keep the club running, turning up week in, week out, we have simply run out of tracks to make up a varied and viable schedule, so after thirteen fabulous years, over 150 events across 12 tracks and over 2500 customers our journey has reached its conclusion.
I must say the biggest of thanks to everyone that has hosted us over the years, Gerry and the late Michael Facenna at Glasgow, Chris Van Straaten at Wolverhampton, Mark Phillips at Plymouth, Graham Arnold at Iwade and Stewart Dickson at Leicester for all hosting us last season. For previous seasons our eternal thanks to Mick Horton @ Coventry, Buster Chapman @ King’s Lynn, Torben & Ole Olsen @ Cardiff, Ged Rathbone/Laurence Rogers @ Peterborough, Len Silver/Ricky Musk @ Rye House, the late Jon Cook @ Lakeside, Ashley Taylor, previous owner @ Plymouth, Kevin Jolly, Michael Lee and Chris Louis our original hosts @ Mildenhall, Trevor Geer @ Eastbourne and all of their awesome staff who looked after us at our events, to name just a few who went over and above anything we could have wished for, Andy Hill (Leicester), Chris Adamson & Neil Carmichael (Glasgow), Gerald Richter (Lakeside & Rye House) Ken Driscoll (Rye House) and of course Terry the Track at Coventry. I must also thank Alun Rossiter & Lee Kilby for all their efforts in trying to secure dates for us at Swindon, then they went and closed the stadium and to Neil Middleditch & Matt Ford for their efforts in trying to secure dates for us at Poole, unfortunately the stadium owners just didn’t want to play ball, but just the fact that you tried on our behalf means a great deal.
Their simply are no words to say how much we have appreciated everyone’s support over the years, from the fabulous Ride n Slide team members, every single one an absolute hero, all of those who have taken to the track with us and especially those who have entrusted their loved ones to us, riding a motorcycle with no brakes in a confined space !! Often the first time ever on a motorcycle of any kind !! (I’m really not sure quite how I could have sold it to those on Dragon’s Den !!)
We are also beyond proud to have played a small part in creating five professional speedway riders, Alex Spooner, William Richardson, Kai Ward, Alec Wright and the late & very much great Danny Ayres. We very much hope that in the next few years we can add young Ellis to that list too, he definitely has the potential to go all the way.
Well the large lady is now singing so that’s me done, thank you all for your continued interest over the years, it’s been an absolute blast !!
All the very best and Take care

And so the Ride n Slide Dayz machine marched on into autumn with the most perfect day ever at the Beaumont Park Arena, Leicester. The weather gods gave us a simply breathtaking day while track curator Andy Hill gave us a track worthy of any Play-Off Final, huge thanks mate, seriously top job.
A full house of riders gave everything they had despite the abnormally warm conditions and improved with every ride. Start after start was text book while the 'friendly competition' that we round the days off with was just fabulous. As always it was awesome to have people return to us for second and even more than second days. It was great to have the Galligan family, Marcus, Will and Jack join us again, likewise father and son Colin and Richard Hammond, who have been regulars with us over the years, the latter having his best day with us by far !
The momentum continues with just a week (unlike the usual two) to turn everything around for our trip north to Glasgow, where we do it all again, roll on Saturday !! The only shame will be that with no race meeting on the Friday night for us to watch, no outlets will be open selling their amazing, no, beyond amazing Kebab Pies !!! Without doubt the eighth wonder of the world !! ;oD
Hi everyone,
Well the summer has been and gone and to that I say good riddance after we lost two of our three July events to the rain and one of them was rearranged for August and that TOO succumbed to the weather so it hasn't been the greatest of periods for us. September did however come good for us and we had great days at both Plymouth (where even the big boss, Mark Phillips put in some tidy laps at the end.........unfortunately minus his legendary 'undertakers hat') and Iwade. Huge thanks to both of our hosts and their staff for looking after us, it was very much appreciated.
And so we move into final stages of the season we head first to Leicester this Saturday the 7th, before the team goes "third time lucky" heading north for our rearranged trip to Glasgow on Saturday 14th. Spaces are still available for the Glasgow event as having to rearrange this for the second time it clashed with plans so of the participants already had in their diaries, so if you fancy taking to the shale at one of if not the most amazing race tracks in the UK then drop us a line. We then have a few weeks before we return to the county of Kent for our third event this season at Iwade. This event too still has spaces available.
As always can I pass on the biggest of thanks to our truly awesome Ride n Slide team, who work their backsides off on an event day to give those taking part the day of their lives, you are simply the best !!!
As we look forward to our first Powerslide School of the season in a couple of weeks, we take a little look back at our events so far this season. After a couple of false starts we finally kicked off our season at Iwade, the home of the kent Royals last month with an absolutely cracking day. We followed that up with the first of our two events at Monmore Green, Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago. It was great to have many returnees join us at the home of the Premiership Wolves, with Wes Cooper and Andrew Smith setting the pace and using all their experience to turn in top quality performances. Special mentions for Andrew Minton who gave it his absolute all and definitely saved his best till last while young Kian Giorgio-Taylor was the personification of confidence and control, getting better and better with every ride. Martin McDonald was treated to a surprise by his son Marc for his birthday, not knowing what he was going to be letting himself in for until they came through the gates of the stadium.........thankfully it was very well received and both guys had a great day.
Huge thanks to both of our hosts, Graham Arnold and Chris Van Straaten for having us and their support teams for giving us top quality tracks to use, we are already looking forward to returning to both these venues later in the year.
Finally huge huge thanks to our amazing Ride n Slide team for there simply awesome work on the days. We are blessed to have such amazing people working with us, and I have no doubt whatsoever we have by far the best non-racing team in the country, thank you guys and girls.
Hello everyone, thank you for your continued interest in our Ride n Slide Dayz, I hope the new year has treated you well so far.
Last year proved to be a historic one for us, we got to hold our first ever events at Premiership Wolverhampton and just for good measure, we took Ride n Slide Dayz to Iwade, the home of the Kent Kings for the first time too, a day that was particularly special for me, as it was the first track I ever rode a speedway bike on back in 1980, so it proved to be a very emotional return for me. Both tracks are looking forward to having us back this year so despite losing first Coventry, then Lakeside and more recently Rye House we are still doing our absolute best to offer a good variation of tracks for people to join us at.
The new speedway season is just around the corner which means getting events booked for our experience days. We are very much looking forward to returning to all of the venues that we utilised last year and are in talks with a couple of others regarding the possibility of visiting their tracks, more on that as the situation unfolds.
So, our dates confirmed so far are as follows:
PLYMOUTH - Saturday May 6th

FABULOUS NEWS !!!
Ride n Slide Dayz is coming to the South East very soon.
With the closure of Lakeside and Rye House over the last few years and Eastbourne not opening it's doors to speedway this year, the South East of England has been a barren landscape for us, but we are absolutely over the moon to announce that we will be taking Ride n Slide Dayz to Iwade, the home of the Kent Royals on Saturday November 12th. Huge thanks to Graham Arnold for agreeing to host us, making it a doubley great year for us having held events at Wolverhampton for the first time as well, earlier in the season.
Please email us at [email protected] for further information.
Roll on next month !!! ;o)
Ride n Slide Dayz headed south-west last weekend for our annual visit to the Coliseum, Plymouth and it turned out to be right up there with the best days we've ever had down in Devon.
Huge thanks to Mark Phillips and his team for looking after us and giving us a simply awesome race track to do our thing.
Our biggest thanks goes to our team members Ady Smither and Tom Waller who made the long trip down south to play their part, you were simply off the scale guys. By the same token we are absolutely indebted to our other fabulous team members on the day, David and Philip Mills, Alan Spencer, Andy Coles and my co-instructor for the day Roy Miller........the presonal highlight for me was our little 'head-to-head' at the end, definitely rolled back the years !! Thank you so so much guys, you were all totally out of this world. It was also really special to meet and chat with the legend that is Robert Doran, a real pleasure and an extremely fascinating chap to speak with.
Huge thanks also has to go to all those who took part in the event from first timer ever on a motorcycle, Ed Hammerton to recent British Ladies Championship finalist Charlotte Brooks, everyone gave their absolute all and there was plenty of sideways action !
We are already looking forward to returning to the Coliseum in the new year.....roll on 2023 !!
Next up we head back to Beaumont Park, Leicester for a sold-out event on Sunday October 2nd.
So August saw our first Powerslide Speedway School of the season at Beaumont Park, Leicester. Huge thanks to Stewart and Andy for giving us one of the best surfaces we have ever had the pleasure of using, you did us proud.
With a mix of riders right across the board from newbies to speedway like the Oldcorn family (That's Dad Graham in the yellow riding kit) through to James Chattin, who's knocking on the door of a National League place coming back from an injury. Everyone to a man (or teenager in Ellis Newell's case) gave absolutely everything they had and all made massive progress as the day went on........a terrific effort all round.
We now move into the second half of the season and head to the Colisium, Plymouth for our next event on Saturday September 17th, places are still available for this event. Other confirmed events for the rest of the season are as follows:
LEICESTER - Sunday October 2nd
LEICESTER - Saturday October 29th (This date is subject to being pushed back by 24hrs should Leicester have a meeting that night)
LEICESTER - Powerslide Speedway School - Saturday November 26th
We are hoping to secure some further events for the weekends of October 15/16 and November 12/13, news on these will be posted here once confirmed.
Should any of these events be of interest, then please email Russ at [email protected]

Wow !! What a month July turned out to be !!!
Hot on the heels of a fabulous visit to the Ashfield Stadium, Glasgow we ran three events last month, one of the busiest in Ride n Slide history.
First of all we returned to Monmore Green with our sincerest thanks to Chris Van Straaten for allowing us to return following a terrific event in June. The star of that day was 13 year old Ellis Newell, who gave absolutely everything he had and put in some top quality rides. A mention must go out to young Latham Tonks, who, after an early tumble came back to take his last ride, albeit in some discomfort only to find out later that evening that he had in fact fractured his wrist, hats off to you chap.
A week later we had our first visit to Beaumont Park, Leicester on what was supposed to be the hottest day of the year. All those taking part coped extremely well with the heat and despite several on track over-exhuberence incidents the day was seen through to a satisfactory conclusion. Returnee Dan Hackett stole the show with some awesome rides. Huge thanks to Stewart Dickson for looking after us brilliantly.
Finally on the last Saturday of the month we returned to West Row, Mildenhall. Another absolutely superb day with a full house of 24 riders taking to the track. Motorcycling first timer Kai Moxon stole the show going from never having ridden a motorbike of any kind to finishing the day on a 350cc after several brilliant rides on one of the 125s. In a real blast from the past, Huddersfield based former Rye House star Chris Chaplin rolled back the years to put in some top quality rides, showing he still has what it takes, which must have been aided by the awesome advice from RnS instructor Alan Mogridge, who Chris raced against back in the day. Our massive thanks to Greg Palmer and his team who got the safety fence and air fence up in super quick time and who gave us a great track to ride on all day.
A final mention must go to the simply amazing RnS Dayz team that run the events, from our instructors, Moggo, Mario Romano, Tim Colley, Conor Dwyer & Will William Richardson. Sally Neave on the board, Irene Romano, Rich and Phil on flags, Owen Dwyer & Mark Anderson being awesome in the pits and all the guys on bikes, you truly are absolute stars and we couldn't do what we do without you, the Ride n Slide family just gets better and better, thank you x
Following the success of our first ever event at Monmore Green, Wolverhampton we have been given the opportunity of doing it all over again, on Sunday July 10th. It was amazing to be able to take Ride n Slide Dayz to this iconic Premiership venue and we are already excited about returning in a few weeks time.
Bookings are now being taken, should you wish to join us then contact Russ at [email protected], via our page here or on 07976 424145.
It's time for the Ride n Slide team to head north for the annaual trip to the Ashfield Stadium, Glasgow. The event had been posted as sold-out but we have just had a couple of cancellations so should anybody be interested in joining us next Saturday, 25th then please contact me at [email protected] or 07976 424145
A few pics from our opening event of the season at Mildenhall, huge thanks to Derek Leader for his fabulous work behind the lens.
And so 2022 finally got underway at West Row, Mildenhall on Saturday. On what must have easily been the hottest day of the year so far our twenty riders kicked the season off in fine style, giving it everything they had in the tank despite the relentless heat. From complete first timers through to accomplished motorcyclists/racers with a highly regarded pedigree in their respective fields it was smiles all round as confidence and ability grew with every ride.
One of our regular attendees Nathan Abbotson (kneeling far right) took massive strides forward over the day and his last ride with Will Mallyon (kneeling second from left) and Morgan Ellis (standing seventh from left) was nothing short of breathtaking, the trust of all three in each other really did sum up a fabulous day.
Ashton Boughen, (standing far right) also deserved massive credit as the newcomer to the shale made the transition from moto-cross seem totally seamless. Another star of the day was Dan Osborne (standing third from right), he put in some impressive rides despite his limited motorcycle experience previously, without doubt a natural !!
Our thanks go to Greg and Neil who looked after us on the day, much appreciated guys and the biggest thanks to the simply amazing Ride n Slide team, who also had to battle with heat and keep bikes coming for the riders and the riders organised (fabulous job Sal). Despite being a few down in numbers the team worked their socks off, so huge thanks Sal and Rich Neave, Steve Bundy, my co-instructor Mario Romano, Ady Smither, Roger Butcher, Paul Burman, Neil, William and Pen Richardson, Paul Anderson and despite the traffic's best efforts to stop him getting to us Phil Hill, massive massive thanks guys and girls.
We turn our attentions now to our next event which takes place on Sunday May 29th at Leicester, there are still some places available so if you would like to join us don't hesitate to get in touch.
Photos from Saturday's event to follow in the next few days courtesy of Derek Leader, our considerable thanks to him for joining the team for the day.

Speedway Ride ‘n’ Slide Dayz 2022
Hello Ladies and Gents, my sincerest apologies for the long time no speak, between one thing and several others, everything seems to have conspired against us this pre-season but at last I finally have some dates that have been confirmed (and some still to be confirmed) to tell you about.
As always, first out of the traps with their much-appreciated confirmation was Glasgow, where we will be visiting on Saturday June 25th. Next up, and for the first time ever we will be holding a Ride n Slide Day at Monmore Green, Wolverhampton. We are extremely grateful to the Promoter, Chris Van Straaten for his help in getting this sorted and we also have a provisional second date which we will confirm if/once both parties are happy with the success of the Sunday June 12th event.
We have also been lucky enough to secure two dates at Mildenhall, Saturday May 14th and Saturday July 30th. We hope to add a third date to that list later in the season.
I have sent a request for dates to both Plymouth and Leicester but I am waiting to hear back from both promotions respectively, I fully appreciate how busy people are now the season is up and running. As soon as I hear back from either of the above and indeed from any of the other promoters we are in discussion with I will be posting again.
We have had our annual discussion with Poole, who have always been really keen to host us but unfortunately the cost of running an event there would prove prohibitive, so with much disappointment that will be a no-go for this year. Other discussions are going on elsewhere as I type, and with the situation at Rye House still not yet done and dusted we very much hope that our friend Steve Ribbons, head of the Rye House Action Group will be successful in reinstating speedway to the Hoddesdon circuit. Despite some encouraging signs coming out of Eastbourne at the end of last year, things have unfortunately gone quiet, so I am really not sure if there will be anything taking place there this year, we can only keep everything crossed that it doesn’t turn out to be yet another venue lost to speedway.
Dates confirmed so far:
MILDENHALL Saturday May 14th
WOLVERHAMPTON Sunday June 12th
GLASGOW Saturday June 25th
MILDENHALL Saturday July 30th
Regarding pricing for our events we have managed to keep our cost the same for the last four seasons but with regret we have had no choice but to increase this slightly for the 2022 season, with medical cover and insurance costs rising quite substantially, along with the fuel price hike that everyone is experiencing. Places at any of our events can be secured with a £60 deposit with the balance payment of £185 falling due two weeks before the event, the total event cost now being £245. We are really sorry to have to implement this but in order for us to maintain the level of what we offer we really don’t have any option.
For booking/payment details please email us at [email protected]
Thank you for your continued interest and best regards
Russ
And so the curtain came down on our Ride n Slide/Powerslide events for 2021 on Saturday at Leicester. Firstly I'd like to say a massive thanks to Andy Hill and Sam Gutteridge for all their hard work in the week leading up to the weekend, at times it must have felt like they were fighting a losing battle and indeed we came very close to losing that battle on Friday evening, but the weather forecast for Friday night and all day Saturday gave us a fighting chance so we took the gamble and we were chuffed to bits that it paid off, in fact come the end of the day parts of the track were actually dusty !! Thanks again guys, you really are something else. With the Covid restrictions still lurking early doors and things not really getting back to any sort of normality until half way through the year we were pleased to get seven events run successfully. Our trips to Glasgow and Plymouth were memorable as always and it was fabulous to get back to holding events at Mildenhall, our thanks to Phil Kirk & Greg Palmer for all their help in making that happen.
On behalf of Claire and myself can we say huge thanks to everyone that came and took part in in of our events this year, it was great working with you and the biggest thanks of all to the most amazing, non-racing team in British speedway, our Ride n Slide team. Your support this year and in previous years never fails to blow us away, we simply couldn't be more grateful. Regulars like Steve Cook, who has been with us since day one back in 2011 through to our new recruits this year Roger Knibbs, Mark Anderson, and Neil Richardson & William Richardson along with everyone in between, words simply don't do justice to the effort the lads and ladies have put in that make our days so popular and enjoyable. Can I also say a couple of special mentions, to Steve Bundy, Tim Colley, Adam Lowe and Alan Mogridge. Firstly a huge thanks to Steve for travelling with me to every event this year and for taking over the driving duties of the RnS lorry after I broke my arm in September, and to Tim , Adam and Moggo for taking over the demo duties while I've been in plaster, all of you did me proud and I can't thank you enough.
Thanks to all of the tracks and Promotions that have hosted us this year, we very much appreciate you having us and we are already looking forward to returning in 2022 along with some new venues being added to the calendar.
To everyone in the Ride n Slide family (and if you've joined us at any point you are now part of that family !!) we wish you a fabulous Christmas and look forward to doing it all over again in the New Year, here's to 2022 !! :o)
After missing out last year we were over the moon to return to the Plymouth Coliseum at the weekend. A huge thanks to Mark Philips and his team for giving us the opportunity and for giving us a superb track to use. The day itself was simply off the scales, it's very rare indeed to put someone on a speedway bike for the first time and watch them progress through the day ending up not only doing full corners but actually sliding the bike into the corners for good measure............a rarity as I said, but even rarer to have two guys do it, they simply blew everyone present away !! Top job Bradley and Radford The biggest thanks for the day goes out to the amazing RnS Dayz team, travelling from as far afield as Derby, Nottingham, Cambridge and Birmingham. We are truly blessed to have such an awesome team working with us at our events, thank you Ian and Tim Colley, Steve Bundy, Mario Romano, Rich & Sally Neave, John Preston, Steve Ball, Andy Hall, Trudi Windley, Tom Waller, Philip Hill, David and Phillip Mills, Andy Coles, Alan Spencer and Roy Miller.........one seriously fabulous team, massive thanks again, we really do go from strength to strength with your support and a day that started with the alarm going off at 1.45am finally drew to a close with a huge smile just before 2am Sunday morning.
Hello again everyone,
Well we finally got 2021 under way at Leicester last weekend with a fabulous event, our thanks to Stewart Dickson and Andy Hill for looking after us and to all of those who took to the track, a quality day all round.
Going forwards we have some news regarding further confirmed dates for events, with a lot of stuff going on at Plymouth this year we have had to snap up the date of Saturday June 5th for our visit to the Coliseum, bookings now being taken for that one and we have also been lucky enough to secure a date of Saturday August 7th for our visit to Glasgow. The Club have been following the guidance of the first minister regarding opening up and will take to the track tonight behind closed-doors unfortunately, although anyone wishing to watch the meeting can do so via a live stream at tv.glasgowtigers.co.uk
Conversations have continued with Belle Vue but much to our huge disappointment we have been told that this will be a no-go there this year as they wish to concentrate their efforts on running their own Belle Vue experience days, leaving my five year quest to secure an event there coming to nothing, really sorry to everyone that had hoped to join us there.
We are closing in on some dates for events at Eastbourne, but nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing this and likewise it’s a similar situation regarding events at Poole, where we are keeping everything crossed for a successful outcome.
Thank you to everyone for their continued interest and I hope to have some further news very soon.
