Stockport Vikings F.C open age

Stockport vikings football club currently playing in the Stockport League division 2

08/04/2024

We welcomed Cheadle Hulme Galaxy to the bowl this morning but the pitch was deemed unplayable by the ref, so the game was moved to fog lane as we searched for another 3 points to keep the pressure on the teams above us.

Terrible windy conditions make it very difficult for both teams from the beginning as we struggled to get in any sort of rhythm as both teams struggled early on to get going

Vikings always looked the more likely and when the ball the was fired in low from
The left Joey Shingler wanted it more to put us infront, not really many chances in a univentful 1st half.

Second half was more or the same with wind killing any form of football that we were trying to play until Marcus New filling in at centre back played a long punt from the half way line which forced the keeper into a great save only for Keenan Bailey to tap in the rebound to make it 2-0,
The dominance continued for much of the 2nd half and a mixture of last ditch defending and a few good saves kept it at 2,
Until after a bit of pinball in the box the ball the ball fell to Joey again who bent one into the top corner to finish the game off and make it 3-0.

Job done in terrible conditions and another 3 points on the board to move us level with Hillgate at the top.

In what turned into a scrappy game joey stepped up with 2 important goals to push us over the line

Easter Sunday game seen us travel to Bosden Farm and a Farm is what we entered on possibly the worst pitch of the season we went searching for another 3 points.

Vikings Started fast and took control of the game early, some nice passing saw Dean Ryan with space on the right who squared it to Marcus Purvis who fired home from just inside the box for a well worked goal,
Vikings continued to dominate the game with Joey and jawz controlling the game and bags playing a deeper roll today dictating the attacking flow but a mixture of poor finishing and overplay restricting is to the 1 goal until Kaniel Henry always a threat down the left dribbled his way into the box to fire home his 1st goal for the club to make it 2-0
More goalmouth onslaught followed throughout the half and when a corner wasn’t cleared properly the ball fell to Joey Shingler who slotted home through a crowded box for deserved goal to make it 3-0 at HT

2nd half started the same with vikings dominating the possession and creating the chances in the game but a mixture of last ditch defending and a number of good saves from the Keeper kept it at 3
Another goal followed from another corner which wasn’t cleared and the ball fell to the feet of Marcus who after some tidy footwork lifted the ball into the net to make it 4
Kaniel soon grabbed his 2nd with a placed shot into the corner to make it 5 and put the game to bed.
There was still time for a few more Diggo lively off the bench got on the end of a defence splitting pass from bags to fire home the 6th quickly followed by a cameo from wh**ey now causing havoc upfront to add a 7th from the spot to make the score line look as comfortable as the game was.

Comfortable win and tougher tests to come but some nice football played and some well worked goals.

Not our best performance but we controlled game for 90 mins and looked comfortable throughout against a young and much improved Stockport Orion team.

We was in full control of the game from the 1st whistle without ever really threatening the goal but all the same playing some nice football and having majority of possession for much of the game, We finally made a breakthrough when Dean Ryan and Mottler combined down the right hand side before Mottler was clattered in the box to win us a penalty,
Bags stepped up and dispatched it to give us a 1-0 lead,
We continued to dominate the ball and peg Orion back and soon added a second Joey Shingler found space on the edge of the box and threaded an eye of the needle pass through the back 4 to bags who Cooley slotted home for his and our 2nd going into half time.
The 2nd half started with a bang as straight from kick off Dee Dylan Moloney Silence hit a shot from the half way line with rocket to lob and the keeper and complete his hattrick and give us a comfortable 3-0 lead,
The 2nd half was very uneventful with vikings mainly controlling play but the job was done early on.
3 points on the board and everyone grabbing needed game time and we move on to next week.

⚽️⚽️⚽️ Bags

MOM bags - they couldn’t handle him his movement and finishing was to much for Orion as bags ran riot.

Big Game , Big Peformace MASSIVE WIN

Big 1/4 final this morning as we travelled to Hillgate which was always going to be a cracking game.

We went into the game looking for some revenge after the job they done on us earlier in the season and this game did not disappoint

Was a fast start from both teams with both testing each others back 4 but with no really clear cut chances, the 1st sight of goal came when Keniel Henry found himself free after some nice play but his thunderous strike rattled off the bar, we continued to apply pressure and it finally paid off when Dee Dylan Moloney Silence pulled out wide and dribbled his way into the box and fired home low past the Hillgate keeper.
Hillgate responded soon after and levelled the game from a corner when there centre back rose highest in the box to level the game at 1-1,
As expected the game was fiery and heated and it was turning into a proper battle but the midfield 3 of Jawz KB and Joey were up for a battle as we went into half time level.

2nd half started similar but it was Hillgate who looked the more likely to score but we were still looking dangerous on the counter attack Dean , Keniel and bags were still causing problems for there back 4, it was a penalty that gave Hillgate the lead after Jeps tangled with there striker, the Hillgate skipper stepped up and tucked it away to take a 2-1 lead.

Quick response needed and we never let them rest on there morals and quickly began to regain dominance in the game and that pressure soon paid off KB’s perfectly floated ball into the box was met by Bags who headed into the top corner to level up at 2-2

The game continued to be back and forth with both teams applying pressure but our back 4 stood firm as the game was heading into penalties.
Dean Ryan Danny South Harry Mottler and bags all out there pens away but we found ourselves 4-3 down in the shootout with hillgates last taker having a chance to win it

Up step mikey white with a massive save to send it into sudden death.

Jawz the 6th taker smashed his pen into the top corner to give us a chance to win it

Wh**ey again the hero as he gets down low and saves the winning penalty to fire us into the semi final.

Great advert for Sunday league 2 very good teams going at it for 90 minutes and a draw was a fair result before the lottery of penalties.
Fair play to hillgate they are a quality team and look forward to the next league game

MOM - Harry Mottler - playing out of position at centre half doing a job for the team Harry was absolutely everywhere what a performance.

We bow out at the 1/4 final stage after a tough loss to Winston,
A game of taking chances we didn’t they did
We was always in the game 0-0 at HT we didn’t come out of the 2nd half and they capitalised on that, score line doesn’t reflect how the game went but we are humble in defeat. Good luck to Winston in the next round

Game was marred by a serious injury to the kid Connor Malone who has had a fantastic season he’ll be back stronger 💙 UTV 🛡️⚔️

Massive game at the top of the league this morning vs Railway FC both teams started the season well. Credit to them for getting the game on with most of the league called off

From the 1st whistle both teams looked up for it with some strong tackles going in from both sides but it was railway who looked the more likely to break the deadlock, things started to turn sour for vikings as we lost 2 players to injury inside 15 mins, the deadlock was finally broken from a set piece when the centre half nodded down the cross for there striker to fire home from close range 1-0 railway

Big response needed from the lads Dean Ryan direct running found himself one on one with the full back who he beat to fire home a much needed equaliser to pull us back level 1-1

Railway continued to have the better of the chances going into half time but last ditch defending aswel as big saves from Mike White ensured we went in at half time level

Much needed improvement in the 2nd half was needed and we began to take control of the game having much more of the possession but railway were still getting the clearer chances wh**ey again pulling off save after save, we finally made the breakthrough
Craig Lawlor attacking from full back sold the defender a hotdog who then brought him down in the box for a penalty ice cold lawlor stepped up to bury the pressure penalty to put us 2-1 up.
Vikings went looking for more goals and looked more likely to score but railway were still looking dangerous on the counter forcing Wh**ey into 3/4 top draw saves together with some last gasp defending we kept the lead.

Finally the game was put to bed when Keniel Henry full of energy off the bench broke down the left and clipped a ball to the back post Dean reacted quickest to square it to Joey Shingler to fire home a well deserved 3rd

The game was finally settled when Dean who was a constant threat all game was brought down in box and Lawlor stepped up again to fire home for a 4-1 win.

Massive performance today from every player the substitutes made a big impact Charlie Steers came on and took a hold of the game with big tackles and Marcus New was constant threat up top.

“Go and show the league what we are about”

Lovely Fresh morning down at the bowl as we welcomed Premier division Brinnington Blues for a place in the 1/4 final.

One of the performances of the season from the boys this morning and were chasing that cup scalp from the 1st whistle, both sides started even both playing nice football vikings pace causing there back 3 problems and Brinnington trying to utilise there big target man on set pieces but hardly no clear cut chances. Big games will find big players quick thinking from Dean with a short corner found bags on the edge of the box who shifted the ball onto his weaker left foot and let a rocket off into the top corner to give the boys a deserved lead at half time.
2nd half we stepped up a gear and we’re much the better team any chances were quickly shut down by our disciplined back 5,

Craig Lawlor chopped himself into the box and got a shot which the keeper could only spill! dean who was first to everything all game got infront of the keeper who brought him down in the box for a penalty, Up stepped bags once again to fire home and put us 2 up and in total control, Not settling for the we continue to press on Dean found himself with space on the right hand side and made his way into the box to fire home the 3rd and a much deserved goal for him to cement our place in the quarters.

Every player in a kit today was superb the back 5 picking up there 3rd clean sheet in a row and looking solid, the midfield full of energy and not scared to mix it up and a forward line so busy and setting the tone for a quality performance.

MOM 🥇 Bags - showing he’s more than just a Goalscorer every game, leading by example again big goals and a massive performance

Back to league action today as we travelled half way around the world to Marple.

Vikings dominated from the opening whistle
Bags found himself free down the right and cut it back to Dean who squared it to Keenan Bailey to smash home early on 1-0, we kept the pressure up and were ruthless going forward bags again causing all sorts of problems set Dean through who fired low into the corner for his 1st of the day 2-0 ,
More attacking play from vikings and Dean dribbled into the box only to be brought down by the defender for a simple penalty decision
Bags stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way 3-0 , He didn’t have to wait long for his 2nd as the keeper found himself in no man’s land and bags chipped him from outside the box for 4-0 , more good play in midfield as jawz played a through ball and Dee Dylan Moloney Silence finished it off for another bagsy hattrick 5-0 at HT

2nd half started similar to the 1st half with vikings on the front foot as more good football in the middle of the park found bags who had pulled out wide to find himself 1 on 1 and at the minute he does not miss 6-0 , not long after a perfect through ball from Dom freed
Dean in the box who drilled home his 2nd of the game 7-0 , another needless foul in the box and we had another penalty up stepped Dean Ryan to finish and complete his hattrick 8-0 , the game was wrapped up when lawlor who was outstanding all game beat 2 men dribble into the box and put the ball on a plate for Danny South to finish on his 1st game back with the lads

Back to competitive football after 5 weeks off
In the Cheshire Cup 🏆 vs Sands United Stockport F.C

Slow start from the lads today after a short time off and it showed it the opening 15 mins as Sands lively front punished us early as there striker slotted a nicely worked goal

We started to grow into the game when Dom collected the ball and played bags through in the channel who gave it him back to fire home from the edge of the box 1-1 at HT

Another sloppy start to the half with sands getting an early soft penalty to punish us again and make it 2-1 after Harry borough down there striker, we responded again though when bags met Lawlors corner with a towering header to make it 2-2,
Sands continued with the back and forth game and were unlucky not to have a goal when harry cleared a dubious one off the line to keep it level. Straight up the other end bags ran onto a great ball over the top from jeppo to Cooley slot past the keeper for his 2nd 3-2

We were firmly on top now and looked to have put the game to bed as bags completed the hat-trick to put 4-2 up. No! 5 minutes of madness we go down to 10 men and concede 2 soft goals to make it 4-4

With the game heading to penalties Dean Ryan is brought down in the box, Dee Dylan Moloney Silence steps up to smash home his 4th and the winner

Made hard work of it but we are in the hat for the next round

Harold English Memorial trophy 🏆 Round 1
Vs Stockport Cosmos F.C.

We travelled to marple for a tough challenge in the 1st round of the cup against a team from the division above, Few sore heads after the vikings Xmas doo but we crack on.

Cosmos started the game brighter testing our back line early on but we withstood the early barage, a quick counter up the other and Dee Dylan Moloney Silence found himself with space and hit one from the edge of the box which was to hot for the keeper and it hit the back of the net,
Cosmos bounced back quickly and were soon level with a well worked move to make it 1-1

End to end game continued as we pushed forward again Keenan Bailey out on the left cut inside beat 3 players and hit a rocket in the top corner to put us back in front at HT.

2nd half was similar to the 1st End to end stuff with cosmos creating the better opportunity’s forcing Wh**ey 🧤 into 2/3 very good saves the our defence and midfield stood firm,
Big Joe seen red with 25 mins to go the most ridiculous red you’ll ever see at Sunday league

But the boys dug in and grafted hard with 10 men and seen the game out to put our name into the hat for the next round 🙌🏻

In the hat for the next round of the cup with a hard fought win away at Northenden Town FC

Quiet 1st half from both teams with limited chances at both ends, Dylan made a great clearance off the line with his head to deny a certain goal , we was denied a clear penalty when Harry Mottler was brought down in the box and we hit the bar twice, but we went in 0-0 at HT
2nd we started slow with Northenden having the best of possession and it was turning into a scrappy dog fight,
Tight games need big moments and up steps Dee Dylan Moloney Silence a quick counter attack and we found ourselves 3 on 2 bags slipped in Nate McCrohan to fire a screamer in from a narrow angle for 1-0,
The game was finally put to bed with great work from Dom in the corner found Keenan Bailey just inside the box who fired a rocket into the top corner to give us the win

All the back 4 and keeper were solid today have us the foundation to win the game
Overall solid win on a terrible pitch in a scrappy game 🙌🏻

MOM 🥇Connor Malone (the kid)
Another solid performance from the kid won all his headers and tackles and is a big figure in the back 4

Mud bath down at the bowl this morning but good to be back after 2 weeks of games called off!

Very slow start from the lads as Marple looked well up for it reacting 1st to everything and catching us on the counter and deserved there goal when they went 1 nil up, They scored again shortly after with a big long throw into the box met at the back post by there big lad 0-2,
Big Response needed and that’s what we got as we started getting into the game a scramble in the box and the ball fell to Keenan Bailey who fired home to get us back into it, another break down the right as Dean beat the full back to square it for Dee Dylan Moloney Silence who brought us level going into half time 2-2,
2nd half was all vikings as we were on the front foot from the off Bags, KB and Dean all having joy in behind on a pitch that was becoming a mud bath, Marple stayed in the game until Joey Shingler found some room outside the box and bent a screamer in the top corner from 25 yards , after that it was just how many , a nice move down the right and Dean Ryan fired Past the keeper to make it 4-2 , Bags grabbed another 2 goals to seal another Hat-Trick and wrap another 3 points up to move us top of the table

Great response from the lads after losing in the county cup last game
As we travelled to Stockport Orion

On the front foot from the 1st whistle the midfield 3 of Joey , Charlie and KB dictating everything and Bags and Dean a constant threat down the flanks it was a dominant opening 10 minutes

Breakthrough made early on with well worked goal Dylan beating the full back again drilled a cross low across the box met by Marcus Purvis with a tidy finish
For 1-0, More pressure on there back line as Dean causing havoc down the right hand side finds Bags in box and drills it bottom corner for 2-0,
It was all Viking’s as there keeper kept them in the game making 3 great saves as Charlie hit 3 rockets from the edge of the box, They got themselves back in it with long ball over the top and there striker squared it for a tap in 2-1 at half time.
2nd half started the same constantly attacking there back 4 and controlling the game and the game was put to bed when Dean dribbled into the box beat the last man and fired past the keeper to make it 3-1 , quick turnaround again with a poor clearance which fella to bags again to chipped the keeper from distance to make 4 and grab his 2nd the game was put to bed with 5 mins to go a well worked move down the finished off by purvis arriving late into the box for his 2nd.
Dominant display with some great performances all over the pitch could and should have had a few more goals but the fair play to Orion all young lads kept going

Good to have him back after injury brings so much to the team 🙌🏻

Big Response was needed after last weeks embarrassment ✅
6-1 win vs Northenden Town

Fast start from the lads today putting pressure on northenden from the start both KB and Dean on the wings testing the full backs from the 1st minute, plenty of pressure from us and plenty of chances but we could not find that goal, late on in the half Northenden kept going and caught us on the counter the winger collected ball cut inside and found bottom corner against the run of play,
Quick response needed more good play in midfield and KB found himself free in the box 1 touch and he found the bottom corner vital goal just before half time.
2nd half started similar to the 1st both teams creating chances both keepers making good saves but nobody could find the breakthrough

Up step Dee Dylan Moloney Silence for his 1st appearance of the season not long off the bench as he ran on to nates througball to curl a Beauty in the top corner from the edge of the box l, from them on it was all Viking’s, KB again causing them all sorts of issues skipped past there full back who brought him down in the box Bags tucked the pen away to make it 3-1 , Another mix up at the back found Joey Shingler free in the box and the cheekiest flick gave KB a well deserved 2nd to make it 4 Bags wrapped up his 15 minute hat trick with another screamer from outside the box for 5

Someone’s 0 had to go!! Both teams with 100% records going into this mornings game

Both teams started fast and was evenly matched, us having joy down the wings and Edgeley looking dangerous on the counter,

20 minutes in big turning point, the striker broke the offside trap and clean through Wh**ey quick off his line brings him down for a straight red (harsh) and Edgeley score from the resulting free kick to lead at the half.

2nd half 1 down and down to 10 we were up against it! Time to step up and we did fully on top from the whistle pe***ng them back in, the rewards for the hard work came just after the hour when a floating corner was met by Marcus Roberts to power home a well deserved equaliser, Viking’s now on top looking for the 2nd but Edgeley looking dangerous from the long throw and set pieces
The game could of gone either way!! 15 mins to go we were further up against when we went down to 9 with a sin bin (harsh)
When the game needed a spark someone needed to step up Dom Ali looked the most likely jinking into the box past 3 players fast feet and fired past there keeper for a well deserved goal, Craig Lawler added a 3rd after a well worked move down the right to seal victory.
Some character shown today from the lads the back 3 2nd half were solid and the midfield grafted and covered every blade every single player stood up and counted for a massive win!!
MOM 🏅 Dom Ali - always dangerous going forward and came up with the important goal

Game of 2 halves this evening away at Reddish Phoenix,
Unusual sloppy start from the lads tonight in the early midweek fixture couldn’t really get going and the football was not the way we have Been playing and we were fortunate to go in front when Danny South pounced on a rebound with a tidy finish, Reddish quickly pegged us back with a quick counter attack good cross and finish.
2nd half we were a different team and we were on top from the off and were dominant without threatening there keeper to much until a QuickFire double from Craig Lawler and 2nd from Southey quickly put the game to bed, 10 mins before the end Montana off the bench grabbed the 5th and his 1st for the vikings.

Back at the Bowl this morning and it shown with our very fast start,
Dom , crazy Nate and Joey Shingler dictating the play from midfield from the start
But it was a moment of brilliance to break the deadlock From Dean Ryan with a bergkamp-esc turn in the box only to be brought down
Danny South tucked the penalty away,
Moments later good play down the left and Craig Lawler found himself free in the box to hammer home the 2nd
The 3rd came soon after Dom freeing Dean down the right who cut the ball back to the in form Lawlor again for his 2nd
Poynton pulled one back just before half time to keep them in the game
2nd started a bit slower with no clear cut chances until a floated corner into the box was met by big Marcus Roberts who headed home Poynton pulled a goal back before the end for the game to finish 4-2
Excellent performance from the lads controlled the game from start to finish

MOM 🥇 Dom Ali - Ran the show today made everything tick in midfield
