You can still achieve whatever goals you want to achieve that made you start training with me in the first place. With the instructors I have covering classes, the classes don't take what I pay the instructors. I'm going to keep it going until I'm back so that everyone who trains at the gym keeps getting better.

Just wanted to give you a quick update.
Unfortunately, I have an infection in my foot, so I won't be able to train until the antibiotics clear it up.
But don't worry, I've got some good news!
Tomorrow's No-Gi at 6pm and MMA at 8pm classes will still be happening, thanks to Bobby Warde.
Bobby is one of John Santry's instructors and a catch wrestling champion. He's going to teach you some awesome techniques that work really well in No-Gi and MMA.
If Im not back Wednesday Bobby will also do kids MMA 5PM Wednesday so kids class this week, Wednesday will definitely be on.π
On a side note, I have to cancel the boxing class tomorrow. No one came for the past 2 weeks, so it's best to take a break for now. π₯
Spread the word and see you all soon!

Yesterday at Newton Inter Club, we had an amazing day with 17 fights. Our team members showed great determination, especially when facing opponents who were bigger and more experienced. It's important to mention that fighting someone bigger and more experienced at the inter club can help you improve as a fighter more than an easier match. It pushes you to work harder, develop new techniques and strategies under pressure, . Later, when you go up against someone of the same size and experience level, you'll find that the previous fight against a tougher opponent has helped you become more confident and effective fighter.
This Sunday all the details below if you are signed up to fight or you want to come and watch.

Just a bit of information about me Shaun Lomas the main instructor at Stockport MMA. I want to take a moment to share my journey and experiences with you, so you can get to know me better and understand how my background can benefit you on your martial arts journey and help you or your child progress through a successful fight career or learn self-defense fitness and or all the other benefits of martial arts.
I started training Judo at 6 years old with George Dennis at Hazelgrove and Bramhall Judo Club. π₯ I competed in many competitions, winning gold in some club competitions, silver in a few Cheshire championships, and placing 4th in the North West. π₯π₯ I also trained in Bacup with the North West squad. At the age of 11, I was a blue belt in Judo. Back then, you had to fight for your belts.
I decided I wanted to learn some striking, and Karate was the main striking martial art at the time. I trained Karate in Disley with John Salt for a while, and then started training in Poynton with Rick Lad. I fought in lots of points fighting Karate and Kickboxing competitions, as well as light continuous tournaments. π₯ I won lots of medals and trophies in different tournaments and even reached the level of brown belt in Kickboxing.
One day, I saw a flyer for Master A's Muay Thai gym in a hairdresser's in Manchester. Intrigued, I decided to try it out. I trained with Master A for a few years and reached the level of KRU. I even started teaching Muay Thai in Poynton. I fought Muay Thai in the UK https://youtu.be/-e6JNl-9rzc?si=ACwSS8f49K_ENGHy, Thailand, and Cambodia https://youtu.be/hxwfuqFnlzU?si=7BBXw-uXuQycSjVS. π¬π§πΉππ°π I won the ISKA North area champion belt, the King of the Ring British champion belt, and the King of the Ring K1 world champion belt. My Muay Thai record was 16-6-0, although I didn't keep track of my K1 record.
Then I moved to Sheffield and opened a Muay Thai gym called Kombat Sports. π₯ I also started an event called The Carnage Continues and fought in many different K1 and Muay Thai events in the local area and beyond. I met a guy called Paul Street who offered me Β£200 for a boxing fight https://youtu.be/k78t21GpmxA?si=bKoJs8d3yf1hT2rS. At the time, I was usually fighting for free and just making money by selling tickets, so I took the offer. He then asked if I wanted to fight the next day, and I agreed. This started a trend of fighting multiple times in a weekend. I eventually quit my chef's job and focused solely on fighting for money. I had around 100 boxing fights over 2 years, while also taking fights in any other combat sports that paid money. I was willing to fight anyone, regardless of weight, style, or notice, as long as the right money was there. π°
One eventful weekend, I had a series of fights. On Friday, I defeated Tony Moran, who was a top 10 UK middleweight at the time and a former 11-0-0 professional boxer, in a stand-up war. It was a thrilling fight, and I emerged victorious on points https://youtu.be/MNQpOS08ZG8?si=GHW8kDBVtmn4-IhM. However, the following day, I faced Mike Ling and unfortunately lost to him by armbar. The challenges didn't end there, as on the Sunday of the same weekend, I fought against the formidable Jimmy Manua https://youtu.be/Fa4YEwWf-kQ?si=PLN9inHIYFrI-2KS Although I couldn't secure the victory against him, it was an honor to share the ring with such a skilled opponent. π₯π₯
Earlier that year, approximately 14 years ago, i fought boxing Friday, Saturday then the following Wednesday Friday then Saturday I fought for the Commonwealth Muay Thai Belt against Mehdi Farose. However, since I had boxing on my mind from the previous day, I ended up relying more on punches than kicks. Although I managed to knock him down with punches, he ultimately won on points because kicks score higher in Muay Thai.
The next day, I stepped into the cage for my first MMA fight, despite having no grappling training since my Judo days at the age of 6 to 11. Unfortunately, I ended up losing to an armbar. Determined to improve, I joined IFC Stockport with John Robins, who was a purple belt under Braulio Estema at the time. My main goal was to learn how to escape from armbars, and I trained with him until he became a black belt under Braulio. During that time, I also reached the level of blue belt Braulio gave me at a seminar at IFC. πͺπ.
Braulio Estima's standout achievements include multiple gold medals at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Mundials), victories at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Submission Wrestling World Championship, success in prestigious grappling tournaments like the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the European Championship, and notable wins in professional grappling events such as Metamoris and Polaris. As a respected instructor and founder of the Braulio Estima Association (BEA) and Gracie Barra Birmingham academy, he has also significantly impacted the sport's development.
I have also trained at various fight camps worldwide. Few months at different times in Thailand, I trained at Lami Beach Camp in Koh Samui, Lana Camp in Chiang Mai, Top Team, and Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket. I also trained in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and at Mejiro Gym in Amsterdam, Holland. Additionally, I spent a month training at Gracie Barra Curitiba in Brazil, under the guidance of Pimpolho, who had won gold at the Europeans and other competitions. While I was there, I trained at Killer Bees, where one of Anderson Silva's coaches, Rodrigo Vidal, taught. He also taught Juliano Costa, who was ranked 2nd in the world at BJJ black belt in his weight class. I flew them back to the UK to teach at my gym for a few months. While they were in the UK, they cornered me against Dez Parker, the arm collector, who was a BJJ brown belt near the top of the top 10 at WW. I beat him with an armbar from scarf hold https://youtu.be/U2xJjw8dGtE?si=tRudGqKBOvmJGEyh. Recently, I returned from a fight camp in Poland. Details below on the page.
I have won various national and international title belts in MMA, including the UCC light heavyweight British title, the MMA Total Combat MW British title, the Duel Fighting Championships UK vs. Poland title, and most recently, the Faroza European title belt https://youtu.be/DRCuFw7zQac?si=5D7Zg17UJ7obtOPn. In between my MMA fights, I compete in BJJ and no-gi tournaments to gain extra grappling experience https://youtu.be/knLO2XR_N9k?si=tx6ChOsz3T_0Xp7T, and I have won medals in every tournament I have participated in at white belt, blue belt, and purple belt.
I am currently a 4-stripe purple belt under Lucio Sergio who regularly wins gold medals at the world's and other international competitions in Europe and Brazil.
Looking back at my fighting career, I realize I could have made a lot more π°π° and gotten on bigger events if I had put at least 8οΈβ£ weeks between my fights and only taken fights at WW π₯ with guys I thought I could beat or only challenged people or accepted fights when I had trained to exploit their weaknesses and defend against their strengths. The money would have become even bigger πΈπΈ after the first 2οΈβ£ or 3οΈβ£ years and stayed bigger with only a few fights a year, even though fighting 1οΈβ£ to 3οΈβ£ times a weekend without missing many weekends meant more money straight away. With my fighters, I always advise them to space out their fights and participate in regular interclubs and/or no-gi competitions before they fight amateur. This helps them gain valuable experience in the cage or the ring in a competitive environment without the risks of serious injury. π₯π
I currently train Sambo with Georgi Georgiev, who has won the British Open Sambo competition multiple times and has earned gold medals on numerous occasions. He also teaches Judo and incorporates Greco-Roman wrestling techniques into his training.
I train Olympic wrestling with Omid Kalantari, who used to coach the Iranian national team and is a high-level Olympic wrestling coach.
I am all so currently training Muay Thai at All Powers with Panicus Yusuf who has won various national and international Muay Thai belts.

Malachy and Chase fought at Newtown Inter club today. Malachy was dominating the stand-up, so I said, "Next round, take him down." If it were an amateur fight, I would probably have told him to finish it standing, but Inter clubs emphasize controlled power striking. He got a few takedowns, but his opponent managed to get back up. However, after Malachy kicked his opponent's leg, there was a clash of knees. Malachy's opponent couldn't get up, and Malachy's knee was injured as well, so he couldn't do his second fight. Chase ended up doing low-kick kickboxing with a kickboxing lad because we couldn't match him in MMA. They had a good competitive match, evenly matched good experience for them both.
We will be putting adults and kids in interclubs, no-gi competitions, and fights whenever they are ready, if that's what they want to do. Here is a list of all the interclubs we are doing in Newtown that are booked. We will also be going to other people's interclubs and competition shows, etc. π₯π
Less than 2 weeks until are next inter club maybe sqeeze a few more fighters on talk to Jonathan Santry. There will be 3 more after that all listed at the bottom of the poster.
I'm off to Krakow, Poland, tomorrow for an MMA training camp sorted by Artur Break. We've got a top-notch lineup of coaches, like Artur Kornik Sowinski, who's boss at striking, Marcin Held, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with loads of UFC and Bellator experience, Karol Siwonia from Klub Klinch Kielce, doing the biz with clinch work and conditioning, and RafaΕ Maciaszek, the big shot coach of the Polish Muay Thai national team, showing us how to fine-tune our striking game.
This intense camp's gonna sort me right out for the upcoming fight, giving me fresh moves and tactics to smash it in the cage. Plus, I'll be back at the gym with loads of new know-how to share with the squad.
While I'm away, Omid Kalantari, known for his wrestling skills, will be taking the Stockport MMA classes. Omid's high level wrestling coach will keep the team on point with takedowns, control, and covering classes while I'm gone and Jake's stepping up to cover Monday's kids class, focusing on striking. I'll be back in a week, buzzing to show you some new techniques and workouts in the classes.
